I'm up.

Woke up at 3:30 with a start! OMG... I forgot to put the trash out. Gotta clean the cat box, empty the kitchen trash... OMG The truck comes at 5:30!!!

Got to the loo for the bladder run, and realized

Stupid brain. It's still Sunday. Trash truck doesn't show up until Monday. We're not down in Oz. Go back to bed.
Wait 'till you wake up late for work, throw clothes on, run out the door, and be halfway to work before you realize the same thing...

Good morning. 32 degrees and sunny this morning. I was discharged from the hospital at 1745 last night. I had to hang out until they read the latest Echo, and EKG. My procedure went well. I quickly healed, although I'm restricted for two weeks. I have removed / or had removed all fo the bandagesfrom my arms, neck and groin...The procedure was painless, the after effect is I feel like I was run over by a truck. That will all get better. I return to the hospital for a check one month from tomorrow, then again a year later. (and I imagine, every year after that). Going up for a shower, and will chat later. Thanks again for all the prayers and good wishes.

Good Morning All. Clear here and a cool 40° to start the day; going up to 67°or so later today. Another beautiful day in the neighborhood. It looks like a typical spring weather forecast for the next ten days, highs around 60±, lows around 42±; with the only exception of cold next Friday.
Another outdoor day yesterday. I took the push mower and grass catcher over to the edge of the hayfield where piles of tree leaves were collected from the wind. I shredded close to 2 yards of them to till into the garden. Shredded leaves are a valuable addition to the soil. Not only do they help loosen up my heavy black clay soil, they release all kinds of nutrients as they decompose; and provide food for earthworms who aerate the soil. Tree roots go deep into the ground to bring up trace nutrients that are then available for my vegetable plants.
Still splitting some wood from the 40 year old ash tree that I had to have taken down 15 months ago. I'm currently down to the 16"-32" diameter hunks that won't fit through the door of the heater. Probably don't need them for this season's heating, but they need to be dealt with at some point.

Short day in the train shed yesterday due to the outdoor activity. It's expected this time of year. I started on some more walls for the Ethanol refinery, mostly just wall sections with no depth to line the backdrop to give the impression of a large facility. I have a few other "irons in the fire" that I will be posting about this month. No pictures of any of my stuff today.
Here's a few additional pictures taken at the Texas Northern Model Railroad Club layout that I visited two weeks ago.

That's it for these guys.

Troy - I wish that I could make wood-fired Pizza, it puts everything else to shame. There's no place anywhere near me that makes it. I can't justify the time and money needed to build my own oven, especially since I am trying to limit carb intake anyway.
Trash pick up: I have my own dumpster so it's not important to be on time. They normally pick up on Thursday afternoon but this week they didn't come because of the ice. However they did come on Friday just as I got an E-Mail from the company stating that this week's service was cancelled. I guess that they forgot to tell the driver.
Jaz - I like a lot about the layout that I have posted, but it isn't mine.

It looks like a severe fog has developed here since I started this post about an hour ago. Visibility is now less than 200' as I can't see either road that borders the south and east sides, and the train shed is beginning to be shrouded from view. OK though; I can still find my way out there and there's always a clear path!
Everybody have a great Sunday.

Great news Joe.

I saw one gent use a lattice of Bacon for the "crust"

And, my Kamado Joe grill has a Dough-joe attachment available (that I haven't purchased yet) that turns the grill into a wood fired pizza oven.

But, a 7-minute drive is WF Pizza place #1. OR, 15 minutes and $5 to park, and I'm at place #2. So, I'm not itching to purchase the Dough-Joe

Good morning from Wisconsin. Low 30’s for the high temperature today.

The balloon is popped. I wonder how long the Chinese would have waited to take a balloon 🎈 down crossing their Covid infested country?

No cough medicine so far this morning. Slept from 12:30 to 6:50 this morning when the visiting granddaughter decided I should be up! So the trend, health wise is up. I would like to get to the hobby room today, it has been a few days now.

The grandson and parents are about 2 hours away. His hockey team is ranked #1 in the region for the State youth hockey championship. This is a play in game that they have to win to advance. They got 2 byes yesterday as the other teams battled to meet his team. I am not a fan of ranking youth hockey teams at any age but for 9&10 year olds it’s even in my book more ridiculous. But hockey parents, (both my kids played) are a different breed. Funny though the #10 team has already taken down #2 and #6 yesterday. My SIL tracks all that crap.

enjoy the day

Glad you are feeling better! Now you can get big stuff done!

Good Morning All!
31F @ 86% - weather guessers say 45F later today and above 40F for the whole week!

Balloon - Geesh - should have been popped when it was 12 miles off of Alaska - Thanks Brandon.

So maybe one ( or more ) of you Physics guys can help? Why in the world did they separate the balloon from the payload and not just put holes in the balloon? To me, they would have a flag going down to make it easier to follow to splash down and it would have helped slow the fall a bit. Well, that is if the balloon part stayed together. Sure, would have taken a little longer to splash as a whole unit, but we had all day. With the whole thing coming down and the atmosphere is getting thicker during the fall would it not start slowing to it's terminal velocity faster and maybe splash at about 100Mph? Since the payload was by itself, it was moving right along until enough friction started to slow it so I suspect it hit at a pretty fast rate not at terminal velocity. Now I would guess the payload only is pretty much spread in quite an area on the bottom of the sea; after they find the thing.

So happy the event was uneventful for you. Relax, listen to the doctors and you will be fine again

I'm still puzzled about not bringing it down over Montana. Just how dense is the population there? Hell, Sherrel lost an entire jet engine over Montana during his piloting career that was never found!

Willie: Keep in mind Montana's population is not much over 1M. There would have been tons of area that are Big Sky only. Wyoming is about like Montana, Kansas has a higher population. It all boils down to the powers that be and the [lack of] decisions that they make.

Lucky that everybody figured out that the WinMag's would not reach 5 Miles up and didn't just start shooting! Heck, I am not even sure if a 50MM AAA round would get that far up!

Oh, had a thought. Maybe the powers that be wondered: Since China gave us Covid using her people, what could be inside the balloon besides the lighter than air stuff and decided to wait until it was outside the USofA cuz the jet stream was moving East. That balloon was huge!
