Good morning guys,

Confession - I only read up on one page of the coffee shop.

Flo - I would like some French toast, bacon, and coffee. Thank you!

Willie - great time tour of your Industrial District

TomO - the box car weathering turned out really nice

I took a snow day from work so had 4 big days to work on the layout!!!! We did get over a foot of snow with lots of wind, so also snowblowed the driveway 4 times, throughout the storm. It looked pretty darn good at 6 AM when I left for work.

I energized the track yesterday, put on a locomotive, and got action. Don't you love it when things work like that!

the NEW layout as of last evening

On - off switches used on sidings, so I can park trains and still power the A-D track

Will be checking in today, Dave LASM

Good Morning Model Railroaders...sunny and cold after yesterday's rain, sleet, freezing rain and then snow. Drive is ice covered and with a thin layer of new snow. Sunny. Two to four inches of snow due Thursday night. This winter has been relatively snow free!

Plans are for a trip to the train room after lunch. My trip up the stairs is a real chore, but I'll make it up.

First order of business is to run a GP-9 with a Masonite track cleaning car and then CenterLine cars with Track Magic cleaner.

I'll run some track cleaning and then the new Rapido SW1200 for a break-cruise.

The room is a mess with two years of modeling supplies, rolling stock and engines everywhere and need to be put in them in their correct places.

Lots of single sentences. Well, I sure like the cab ride on the PSMRE model railroad on the West Coast. So realistic and the cab ride shows a lot of the layout's details.

That's about all...back to check the markets.

Greg

So I guess I no longer work for Vocera Communications and now work for Stryker. The acquisition of Vocera by Stryker closed yesterday at midnight or something. It will be a few months for things to get merged on the business / employee level (pay, benefits, etc. -- still all being figured out).

Our (unvested) restricted stock units and any other Vocera shares (ESPP or vested RSU) we had in our (company stock program) e-trade account disappeared this morning. Eventually it should all be put back as the cash from the buyout price as they accelerated the vesting on it all.

Wife agreed I could get a few train things from Japan this summer (pre-order right now). While they are from KATO, they are actually models for the Swiss narrow gauge railway Rhätische Bahn... A few locomotives in different liveries are either being re-released or new plus an 8 car set of flat cars and containers that run on this railway...

OK gang...

I'm in that phase where I need to create some characters for the next book. And I need names. Who wants to volunteer to be a character.

I write in a magical universe with pixies, trolls, gnomes (make sure you pronounce the G, it wouldn't be there if it weren't important) ect.

This one is set in my SoCal coastal town and centers around a beach BBQ contest (think real pitmasters).

Warning... if you volunteer, your first name and basics of how I interpret your character might be reflected in the book. Your character namesake might also be the perp or the victim. They might have a pretty shady past.

Either quote the post (hit reply) or message me.

If I use your name intentionally, I'll send you a free E-book copy to read on your tablet/phone/device.
You can use me, as it’s not my real name I’m not worried if I ‘die’ and won’t freak out if my death is traumatic, but I would be happy to have a funny death or character, my sense of fun would happily enjoy this aspect, senselessly tripping over one’s own undone shoes laces and falling onto something silly like a rake - garden variety not male. or being accidentally munched or part munched by a little red dragon - welsh. Under some silly happenstance, I could end up on a crutch with bandages wrapped around it, and any a n other variant there of.

Afternoon All,

Spent most the morning finishing up programming. After lunch I ran a train but when I tried running a train through the reverse loop on the right pier it kept shorting out. This RL is a balloon track with isolation on both ends and controlled by a PSX-AR and wired to a RL specific buss. I've checked the wiring and it appears correct. One thing that is additional is that there is a track lead in between the two balloon ends that goes to 6 stub tracks that are also wired into the RL. I wonder if it would be considered a second reverse loop? The thing that irritates the hell out of me is that I didn't have this problem when I initially laid the track and testing.

The second issue I'm having is my DT402D throttle is constantly losing connection to whatever I'm doing with it. The rechargeable battery is fine, and it works fine either plugged into an UP-5 or UR92. When the throttle loses connection the middle white light on the top edge is constantly on. I'm not very happy needless to say.

TomO- Very nice weathering.

Gary- Very cool.

Alan- Nice find.

Steve- It looks like you're doing precise work. It looks great so far.

Justin- Good luck with the GP7. Could it be the motor?

Smudge- Nice lighting job.

Willie- Nice before and after photos. Stay safe in the sleet and ice.

Dave- Your progress looks great.

Chad- Congrats on the official go ahead. :)

I hope everyone has a good night.

Today I decided it was time to go and visit my local American Model shop Mech Models just south of me, before leaving checked wallet Cash ? Check, Credit and Debit card's on the bedside table, Check, great off I go, I'm so glad I left those cards behind, I could easily have spent literally thousands of £'s there, and I mean thousands.

Instead I bought a few items I was running short of, and one I heard about, but never seen, ended up being my one "big" purchase.

We spent the day just north of Washington DC. Silver Spring, Beltsville and Burtonsville to be exact. Lots of Industry and usually deep pockets in those areas. The entire DC market has deep pockets, for the most part. We charge the same rates, regardless of the area. Most Baltimore based businesses charge 25% extra or even higher to DC customers.

According to an All State report of the 200 cities ranked Baltimore had the worst drivers. Followed closely by DC. The two cities flip flopped since the last report I saw. Just my luck!
I have not had an accident since 2013, I think it was. An old fellow back into my Malibu in a bank parking lot. He apologized and told me how he was in a hurry because it was his wedding day. I told him, I hope you have better luck on your wedding night.

Jaz, here is a photo I promised. Its my favorite Hungarian food, Fasirt, fried Hungarian meatballs. I think its best with tomato salad, my grandson prefers mashed potatoes. We got home from work at 3:02pm (I keep a log) by 4:15 I was fat and happy on the couch after my feast! Did I tell you my wife is amazing?
Sorry about the paper plate, that was my idea. My wife does to much. The trash is easier than loading and unloading the dishwasher.

I'm on a diet man!!!! how dare you 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

Good afternoon, almost evening to all! It has been a blah, overcast day with off and on rain showers. Gassed up the truck since I found a station at $2.92. Everywhere around here is $3. 06 and up. I'm not sure, but I think I last filled up sometime in Dec. We don't use my truck to much as the wife has a problem climbing in.

My American Model Builder showed up a few minutes ago, so hopefully I'll get started on that soon.

Louis: Well now, that's interesting, because the ranking I saw, showed NYC as the Worst, follower by Essex County, (Newark), Central Jersey , (Edison), and the rest of Jersey. Shows how easily data is manipulated to justify rate cases nationwide.

Greg: That reminds me I have a Rapido SW 1200 on the shelf waiting on a decoder, (which I also have).

While searching the shelves looking for something else, I found an assembled Walthers 75 Ft. TTX Flat, with a large expansion tank load, just waiting to be finished. Forgot I had it. The rail car needs to be weathered, the load itself painted, the bracing and dunnage needs to be stained. Today was warm enough to paint outside, but I wasn't far enough along. Meanwhile, I'm moving right along with the road bed for the final modules Spent a good part of the day, napping, although I do not feel sick...or show any unusual symptoms of anything.

Good Evening All. Still cloudy but there has been no more precipitation since just after dawn this morning. Of course at 20° currently, nothing from this morning has melted. The sleet on top of the freezing rain has actually made walking easier as it is providing a "gravel-like" surface. Another benefit right now is that I can leave my beer on the back porch and it stays plenty cold!:D

You're the same temp we are. We had snow last night and earlier in the day (with scattered flakes). No freezing rain or sleet. Snow was that thin light dry crystal spear type snow.

We were 55F-60F last Sunday. By Monday we were 32F and it was supposed to snow all day (though not heavy -- like 50% chance per hour). Got about an inch Sunday night/Monday morning but nothing Monday. Tuesday it got up to mid 30s and had some sun a few hours. But then got overcast and snowed in the night an inch or two and as I mentioned, today. Tomorrow even colder more sun and less clouds and starting to warm up to mid to upper 40s by Monday or something like that. Crazy weather.

Unfortunately, there is already a character in the sister series named Jaz/Jazzy/Jasmine who tools around in this part of the world. I'm planning a crossover book where she'll come back into play, and probably not die. But I might be able to work something in. You never know...
