And Wally of the week goes to...............ME!!!!!!

Why ?

Simple, after yesterday's fiasco I was so tired my brain went into neutral (nothing unusual there really).

So, 0430 this morning, up and off to work, got a few strange looks from my work colleagues, eventually one came up and ask's me what I'm doing, my job say's I, thinking this guy's losing it.

But your down as HOLIDAY this week say's he ??????

Ooop's Yep I am, meant to work yesterday, rest of the week I'm off.

Wally !!!!!! 🤣 🤣 🤣 🤣

Good morning Everybody!

I had appointments in the north west suburbs of Washington DC early yesterday morning. I was surprised by the light traffic. Even at 4am DC traffic can be crazy. Finally I realized, "it's a Federal holiday". No delays what so ever on my way from DC to our next appointment in Bear Delaware. Coming home was a different story. I was all finished and home before 1pm. My wife needs no help generating the reports and proposals from our work. I headed for the couch with my beagles.
I miss my Chevy city express. Our little Chevy Sonic is saving us lots of fuel and I no longer need a cargo van.
The Sonic is more than big enough even when I occasionally deliver for Amazon. I only do priority packages for Amazon. Much smaller loads for us and higher pay.
Our Equinox mostly stays in the driveway now. Except when we need the all wheel drive. Living in the great state of Maryland, when don't need all wheel drive very much.

Today is an easy day. I have the privilege of taking my grandson to school.

Have a great day Everybody!

Morning all,

15° and show flurries this morning. Not predicted to snow until Wednesday night into Thursday. High of 28° in Doo-Dah.

Well, I hate Tuesday Mondays. You know, the first day back from a Monday holiday...not to mention taking Thursday and Friday off as well....
Got in early and took nearly 45 minutes to catch up to where I can even do the crap I need to do on a daily basis. Now on to the new crap for the day.

<edit> Forgot to add Happy 2's day (2/22/22)

Sherrel: Get better soon man. Try to relax and take naps if you can. I know it's hard when you're thinking about what's going on.

Terry: Sounds about right. Problem comes in when the kids read a code and replace parts that are indicated, but still can't fix a basic mechanical issue.

PMW: Welcome to the funny farm coffee shop. Have Flo or Francine get you one of those big Pecan rolls on my tab.

Willie: Sounds like some excitement in Texas...

Well howdy there internet MRR people, and those who want to fall asleep to their favorite TV shows (mine is Mythbusters)

Sitting here waiting on the Notary

Seems we're refinancing the condo. Lower interest rate, shorter term, etc. Goal is to pay off the 15 year loan in about 8 years. Wife's employer connected with a mortgage company that does everything online... great!

So today's the closing day... and we have no idea what's going on... Video conference? (They're in Illinois, we're in Indiana - good 3 hour drive or more between us).

Nope. They're sending a notary. And, according to Mort Co we need an adult witness... OK, line up someone who can be here without taking off work.

6 am today I got an email... E-sign all the paperwork, or the Notary has to print and bring every doc for you to sign....

I login and do so... wife - who also needs to sign - will be up soon, right?

Nope... I go shower and make a bunch of noise... she finally peers out from under the covers at 7:15... So I tell her to get up an sign on the computer....

So, she hops in the shower first... 🤪

OK... I finally get to tell her what the process appears to be...

She comes down, and can't find the docs to e-sign....

Then the notary calls to confirm.... she's already printed out the 100+ pages for us to manually sign. She's coming from an hour away...

No video conference...

Don't need the witness, since Indiana doesn't require one... Just the notary.

Oy... 🤪

Process was super easy and fast up until this point. The What to Expect at Closing email was lost in translation and non-existant....

So, here I sit, waiting... staring at the gate... doing finger exercises. Don't want to cramp the wrist with all 144 pages to sign and initial.

Wow, no witness! That up is a surprise to me. Witnesses are easy though, grab a neighbor.

We only closed on Christmas and Easter. What better time to call someone about there debt then on a day you know they should be home. All legal in the USA.

Until retirement I really never thought about “government” days off

Good Morning All!
6F now, 30F later - should stay under 10F at night for the next few days.

Sherrel:
This might sound really st00pid - You can force sleep although it takes some time to learn. Tell your Brain to think about NOTHING. I did this by thinking of an empty chalk board; wipe it clean. Brain will be quiet for a few seconds then probably will stray. Tell it again. Pretty soon it will do as you ask and within 30 to 60 seconds you will be sleeping. As time goes on, you only need to tell Brain once.

I have found that good sleep is all about a quiet mind, position, comfort and temperature. I learned about the temperature thingie only a few years back. I deal with it using a heavy comforter for the body along with a cool pillow. If head gets to warm, tossing and turning happen to try for temperature regulation. Wife bought one of those new 'heavy blankets' - Ima still on the fence with it as it seems to help for sleep inducement, although sometime after sleep throwing the thing off because body gets too hot is an issue. I usually try to throw most of the thing off, then turn the pillow over to the cool side and drift right off again. Wife does not have hot flashes anymore so the automatic temperature reduction does not happen with the blankets flying in the air every couple of hours. Now if I only did not have to pee every 3 hours or so?

Good morning.
It’s raining and 56.

Good morning from a ICED OVER So. Central Wisconsin. Every school is shut today due to the overnight ice storm which was predicted but was 9 hours later then they said. It is still misting out there right now, so this event is not over. The weather guy is begging folks not to travel.

Finished up weathering a car yesterday afternoon. 4 fricking times to get this done to my satisfaction. Stripped it 3 times. It is posted here in the Weathering Forum. I figured the home for this one would be on the layout but put it out there anyway and it sold and will be off to Canada when the ICE event starts melting. I started working on the 4 CN WaltersMainline gondolas I purchased this weekend. 3 will be sold and 1 kept. If I can find 1 CN Walthers Proto line gondola then I will sell the 4th Mainline one.

Went yesterday to my 1st PT appointment. The healthcare system’s therapist (Rekacca) is the sister to my trainer (Meghan) that I have used over the years. I have 3 daily exercises to work on the next 2 weeks. She said they can’t cure arthritis but can loosen my hips and back. I meet with my trainer at 9 this morning. I am now allowed back into the pool to swim not just exercise in the lower end of the water. It will hurt for a few days getting back into the program, I did miss the daily swimming.

Have a great one, be safe

Exactly right!

Some mid-sized and smaller companies self-insure as well. If they have deep enough pockets or they are willing to take the risk.
We self insured for 10 of the 31 years we were in business. The 1st few years with under 25 employees was pretty simple. Once we went over the 25th employee the costs and the bond we had to post went up significantly. Finally the time Terry had to spend on the care of the self insured program wasn‘t worth it. The savings was not enough. We stopped it and moved to a regular funded healthcare program for all employees, more expensive for us but easier.
