Super Bowl SUNDAY !

I hope you all have a great day, sunny with clouds here this morning, snowstorm on its way here again….lol.
I am ready for spring for sure! Bacon and egg croissant please Flo, then some chores, trains and super bowl wings today !
Go Cincinnati Go ! 🐅 🐅 🐅 🐅

Good morning all,

Up and prepping for the Sunday gig. The Re-Work went well yesterday. In fact, I think it may have come out even better than the first go. This time, I glued down the foam bit BEFORE cutting the circle profile. Now I can determine the exact radius I need using the ME flex track curved to the 22R. I do like ME flex track. Now I am using the unweathered Code 83 and it bends nicely. GARY: you got to try this stuff (if you can get it, that is), I am a rank amateur, even more so than you, and I can do this flex track thing. I did buy some ribbon rail curve gauges in 15R, 18R and 22R, both 5 inch and 10 inch varieties. Those help A LOT!!

This afternoon, after naps, I will clean off the table-top and lay out those southern curves. Cut the curve into the foam, spackle the joints and maybe even get one coat of paint down. And hopefully run some wires and power up the straight I laid the other day. "Let's Run Some Trains!!"

No Super Bowl here - - - I gave up on NFL years ago. Sometimes I wish I had started watching again so that I could say I quit because of the knee-thing, but alas, that is not the case. If I want to watch that much pageantry, I'll watch re-runs of Miss America/Miss USA/Miss World or that old Tyra Banks runway show. Can't stand all the hoopla: Just play the damn game, eh?! Run one play - watch six replays of it - go to commercial. Shoot, half of a hockey period can go by whilst these pretty boys run one set of downs!

Wife wants to make her chicken wings - I'll not complain (except for the clean-up). Maybe we'll watch "The Replacements." To me, one of the funniest, most enjoyable movies ever made!

Blessings to all, however yo choose to spend your day,

Steve J

Good Morning all. 17 degrees in the Ozark Foothills. Thanks for the complements and likes yesterday I appreciate that. Here’s some pics of my Trucks I have on the layout once in awhile. Hope everyone gets better who are sick and that have been down. Enjoy your day.

Alan-I have everything from polyester models to Williams plastic kits to metal Jordan kits to ready made Classic Metal and Oxford Models.
I owned a '81 Corvette, so I have several Corvette models in various sizes and styles as well as other modern vehicles I like.
You are 100% correct that vehicles are fun!
I feel ya! I have an Alloy Forms kit or two, several of the Williams kits, a sh*t ton of Sylvan scale models kits, and a small stash of Jordan Miniatures which I bought not so much for cars on the layout as for this scene on my "Quincy Salvage" kit:

Got any "Greg's Garage"? I picked up the below many years ago at an NMRA regional, In Cincinatti when I went with Larry Smith. They don't stand up to the modern stuff as far as detail level goes, but are still quite nice. He did stuff nobody else bothered with, like the '47 Tucker, the Henry J, the Nash, some Studebakers, and that awesome Flxible Clipper bus. He had a table at their show and was selling them for five bucks a pop. After this I'll stop with the vehicles for a while! 😂

Awseome looking stuff! I know I just said I'd leave the vehicles alone for a while but now I'm tempted to go dig out the trucks and post a bunch of photos of them. 🤔🚚;)😜

Good morning. It's cloudy and 40.
In this state, gas stations may or may not put a sign on the pump about putting a hold on a card. Some do, some don't, none list a dollar amount.
It may be a state regulation, or our state's gas stations may think their customers don't need to be told about it. At any rate, I've never seen anybody here have a meltdown over it.
Not for nothing, I don't ever recall having a hold of more than $1 applied to a gas purchase at the pump...In Jersey, where we are legally considered too dumb to pump our own gas or handle any portion of the transaction ourselves, the hold has never been more than $1. My guess is that the amount held, is determined by the card issuer. I have seen limits on the amount that can be purchased in a single transaction, normally $75 after which the pump stops pumping. I believe that amount is set by the vendor.

Good morning Crew. It is still Winter in Wisconsin even though Mother Nature gave us 40 degree temperatures on Friday. Maybe 14 today.

The game, take it or leave it. I have also seen most of the commercials so what else is left? I am not a hip hop enjoyer and definitely will not be watching 1/2 time.

Looks like this weekend is about vehicles on the layout. I have a few trucks and a couple ambulances. Modeling 2015 there just isn’t a lot out there. Even thinking of going back to 2005 or 1998, same thing. Not much for that period either. Right now though 2015 is fine, the other years are just thoughts. Too much rolling stock for use in 2015 to get rid of. Everything pictured today and yesterday are very nice.

enjoy your day, even the the “GAME” if you want

Stickers at gas pumps. I know in Wisconsin by law if there is a hold on a payment it must be explained at the point of service. That means every pump has the information but I have never seen a hold of more then $75.00. It also must be displayed at the inside cash register. Same thing goes for those stores that use a Check Recovery system. All the recovery fees must be shown on the stickers at the point of sale, meaning at the pump and registers again at a gas station. Bad checks are a real profit eater and most stations in Central and Northern Wisconsin have gone to refusing checks.

We have a casual feast to help us enjoy the Super Bowl.
Sliced Ham, chilli dogs (my grandson favorite), polish sausages, nachos, salsa, onion dip, more chips and pretzels than any man could or should ever eat!
I'm looking forward to a nap, a board game or two with my grandson and my wife before we kick off the party.

I just finished five hours of work in under three and half hours.
Now I'm going to rest on the couch and fall asleep watching John Wayne in "Angel and I the Badman".

Thank God I was born in the USA!

Good Morning!
31F this morning with the moon just setting in the west. It will be a clear, sunny day, though, there will be wind.

I'm enjoying the vehicle collection photos that are being posted. This is great!
I'm enjoying it so much, that I set up and took a quick photo of my small collection:
87th Vehicles_02-13-2022.jpg

I expect to increase that humble collection by 4x vehicles within a couple of weeks. Plus, I have a few Sylvan tractor/trailer kits to build, that will put a few trucks in the mix. I'm trying to keep it all within reach of 1965.

Can't be in here too long; I'll be working on the wife's plant grow station project, instead of wasting time on the super-bowl. I'll have to tear apart some of the basement ceiling, so I can get some electric wiring directed up to the main floor level. Today is a good day to fish in some wires. - I need to get this out of the way, so I can get back to hobby work.

Again, wonderful photos folks! I hope this keeps up over time.

Time to go. Have a great day!!

GARY: you got to try this stuff
Thanks Steve,
Wish you a great day of course! As for flex, I am using it on straights to replace 4 old brass or steel 9” pieces, and in my yards. It was $60 for 4 packs of curves, and $45 for 5 straights (cdn dollars) $10 per 4 section vs $9. No kinks, no soldering here, it just worked for me and is easiest in this scenario.

I know a guy in Stafford County, VA who makes a living on collecting on bad checks from the local businesses.
He makes his rounds of the stores about once a week to buy the rights to the bad checks. He then contacts the check writers and informs them of his intent to collect and cites the Virginia law concerning bad checks.
Most will pay up right away while some won't respond. The non-responders get a certified letter of his intention with a court order to appear for the bad check charge. Most will respond to that with payment.
There will only be one maybe two who will actually go to court to try to prove their righteousness to writing the bad check. Nobody has ever won their case, especially when the check was written to buy beer, cigarettes or some other fast food/convenience store item.

Cars I don't have much of. Most of my scenes are some sort of trucking. I detail them with chrome wheels with the planetary hubs, paint the marker lights and tank straps and add fenders (lowboy tractor)

Detailed trucks need custom trailers. The dump trailers I added tag axles, I did two with the axle up and two down. The lowboy with the excavator I had to look a few to find one that folded up all the way, most don't for transport. The 3 axle intermodal trailers are scratch built. They are the old 20' Athearn kits. Put 2 together to haul one 40', 2 20', or one single 20'.
