Thanks for the feedback gents! I ordered an inexpensive laser level. Hopefully not too inexpensive.

Garbage disposal went kaput. Makes a loud humming sound, but the grinding wheel does not spin. Used the wrench to free it but it spins very easy and free. Nothing jamming it. Badger 500 unit. I'm thinking the coupling between the motor and the shaft of the grinding wheel broke. Now to research if it is reparable or if it would be easier and almost as inexpensive just to replace it. Always something.

Wifeykins gets the booster today at 11:00. We're both hoping for no ill effects, but mine took me out for almost 36 hours after it hit me at about the H-Hour +8.

Dave L&S-man - - hope you recover soon. We 'sotans gotta stick together.

Good Morning all. 11 degrees in the Ozark Foothills. Yesterday evening I got the old Allis Chalmers out and made a path way to get out. This was the best $700 dollars I spent rebuilding this tractor. Early last spring I started with putting a new Carburetor on it I finally found a guy in Ohio who knew his stuff on parts for this tractor and took off from there. I really enjoyed working on this tractor last year and getting her running after 7 years of sitting now she purr’s like a kitten. I’ll finish plowing this up today when it gets warmer. Thanks for all the likes and complements yesterday. Stay warm and safe.

Steve: It will be cheaper to replace said garbage disposer. Badger (InSinkErator) is made by Emerson which makes a ton of different names. Cost about $110 to replace yourself if your handy. It's only a 1/2Hp unit. Probably cost you more to get someone out to fix the old one.

When using the laser system like I have and posted previously. What is important is that when you set it up, mark that location of the laser point/set-up. What I did with mine since it was mounted on the cheap tripod I had. I marked the floor on all three points of the tripod. (as I pulled up my carpet in the train room, I am replacing the flooring later) Anyways you want to use the same set-up point when you are using a laser like I have. The floor may not be level so if you move it around you will not get the same results around the room.

Could ya come over and do my driveway too? 😂🤣🤣

So last night in the weeeee hours of the early morn.....while I was watching the storm radar and seeing layers of freezing rain and layers of snow stack up like a giant swath cut of a white 8 layer forest cake....

I went on Evil bay and browsed about lurking into the far dark corners of the web. I found a UP heritage number 5 of 6......the Katy #1988! Wow! New in the box. Turns out the gentleman that was selling this has 3 of them and many others. He has like 3 of each locomotives crazy! He may have #6 the D&RGW which would be fantastic! I will know by tomorrow. It turns out his father in-law passed away and well he was a serious modeler of UP and SP. He apparently has a lot of stuff to sell. We exchanged phone numbers etc. so that was cool and we will be talking about his inventory. Looking forward to see what else he has....hoping for some steam locos.

I realize Athearn has the 2.0 release coming out for the SD70Ace in June but that will have upgraded sound but also changes to the paint schemes from the repaints UP did etc. I will stick with the original version. I can later look at replacing the incandescent bulbs to LEDs. Not a big deal or concern to me at the moment.

I will update more later!

As for the stupid weather we are having....the drive to work was slow and comical. I need to invest in a dual dash camera for recording the bloopers and stupidity of how some people drive in this weather. I could do a YouTube channel and make some coin lmao!

A guy did a "Dukes of Hazzard" over an embankment down into a ravine holy man what a ride. The drop was a good 200 feet. They had all kinds of responders there for that.

I counted like 17 cars between 4 exits in the ditches, trees and going the wrong direction. Crazyness....my drive consist of 50 miles so I got to see a lot this morning. ;)

Well back at it.... ya'll be safe ya hear!

Good morning, -5 headed for +10,

THANKS for all the concern over my health, that is a comfort!

Still not well, however some night sweats and chills is the worst part of it. Afraid I will use up all my vacation time on sick leave.

Lee: I love the WD 45. My uncle farmed with one of them, then later went up to a D-15 Allis.

I spend a lot of time here:

This is our new house, moved in about 10 months ago.

This is the other place I spend time:

I will be working in the hospital again today. I used JB weld kwick to attach the smokestack to the boiler. Glued on a few boards.

Jazz Alley - thanks for the call out on the green/weathered tool shop part of sawmill. Sometimes I think it is partly accidental when something turns out well.

Have a great day all, Dave LASM

Good Morning All. Cloudy and 19°, not as low as the forecast of 9°, but cold nonetheless. The north wind is still with us until early afternoon and then a gradual warmup to between 55° and 65° for at least a week starting Monday. Yesterday was one of the very very few days of the year when the temperature did not get above freezing. NWS is predicting 36° for the high today.

I did something last night that I hadn't done in years, more years than I can remember. I slept 8 hours, albeit with two bathroom breaks. The doctor Wednesday, prescribed something to assist. I am just hoping to use it to get back into a healthy pattern. I don't really want to add another prescription to the ever-growing list.

Thanks for the comments and reactions to the mini-scenes posted yesterday; George, OB Ken, Mike, Steve J, Chad, Jaz, Lee, Karl, Rick, Hughie, James, Louis, Tom O, Joe, Gary, Curt, Tom, IB Ken, Smudge, Patrick.

No train shed yesterday, I made no attempt at trudging through the snow and ice to reach it. I ordered another electric heater from Amazon that will arrive next week. Probably won't need it until next winter!
Let's make a tour of some of my various bars and speakeasies.
Archie's Place is part of a Downtown Deco block in my town of Rycon Township.
IMG_6275.JPG

In Gainesville is the Coco Club, also a Downtown Deco structure. It's a little less classy than most.
IMG_6605.JPG

Derry's Pub is a Walther's structure called Village Pizza that I am using as an Irish Pub in the town of Charlottesville. Looks like Adele knocked off her husband outside the hobby shop next door after he spent the SS check on trains.

The Green Door Lounge is a laser-cut wood structure from Blair Line that graces the town of Maultown.

I'll pick up with the rest of the alphabet tomorrow.

Tom O -
I never knew about the feral pig problem Texas has until the son moved to Austin. They sure can cause crop and land damage
Yes they can be quite destructive. This herd that frequents our neighborhood is relatively docile. They are rather isolated from any others so they have a lot more space for themselves. The destruction is spread out. The main problem is when they root around in dams and spillways. They can also devastate wheat fields in my area. While their favorite food is acorns, they are omnivorous and will eat rabbits, cats, squirrels and other small mammals that they catch by surrounding and overwhelming them. They are actually quite quick. Besides humans and vehicles, the young can be killed by bobcats who feed and then leave the remains for vultures and buzzards.
Yes, despite gasoline going above $3/gal here, it is still less than a year ago but it will not last much longer.

Jaz -
Plus not likely to mow you down if you try to turn them into breakfast, Some of the big ones tend to have a nasty glint in their eye.
They are actually quite vicious and a 300 lb. mama pig can mow you down quickly and start jabbing with her tusks.
Regarding the young ladies in tight pants and shorts; that is normal attire here in Texas and many other parts of the southern and coastal US. Tight fitting pants is acceptable at many non professional work locations.
George -
I notice you have a large police force on that layout. They always seem to be giving out tickets. I have not seen one of them bother any of those girls in tight pants though.
Thankfully! ;)
Ken (D&J) - Hope that you're feeling better soon.
Joe - Back in December I wasn't believing the Goldman Sachs prediction regarding oil prices. I am now.
Dave - Get well soon, although you appear to have two very nice comfortable rest areas.

Everybody have a great day.

I love logandsawman's cluttered free rec room. He's my type of person unlike the UP train thieves who want to turn the country into a garbage dump. Here's our rec room which I'm going to further clean up after winter's over. I want to sell some of those telescopic camera lenes on the shelving at flea markets prices if anyone's interested. I built the bookcase because I couldn't find an all wood one at a fair price.

Good Morning Everyone.....cloudy and seasonal cold here in this part of Wisconsin.

Finally my order from Model Scenes arrived from the Czech Republic. I was a little worried about my first time order from Model Scenes since I never received a order confirmation, nor did they answer my emails. PayPal wanted me to wait until February 20th before contacting Model Scenes. The order was shipped on January 20th and it arrived on February 2nd. It looks like the box was opened going through US Customs.

I discovered Model Scenes from watching Stephen Bennett's videos on how he constructed his basement sized layout. I always liked his scenery since it looked different than the "Tried and True" Woodland Scenic route. He used some Woodland's along with Heki and Model Scenes (Model Scenes.com) and others. I checked the web site for Model Scenes and found their assortment of scenery material to be different than the usual ones available from the normal suppliers. Their prices seemed higher than Woodland's or Heki, but I ordered three items from Model Scenes that included two landscape mats and flowering bushes. When they arrived they were package nice for the over-seas trip and I'm happy for doing the order with Model Scenes and will do more business in the future.

While a bit more expensive, Model Scene's items will make for excellent foreground landscapes for model railroad layouts. All the items can be torn apart for their use on the layout.

I have several foreground areas that I have Puff-ball trees as the main landscape and the new materials will be part of the new landscape.

I received confirmation from Kalmbach about a car I ordered with the MR&T logo. I know I ordered a reefer, but the confirmation says it's a gondola. Could of ordered that one also???

That's about all for now.

You must get a brilliant turning circle with the front wheels so close

My apologies, my rec room isn’t near as tidy and organized as yours George, I tip my hat to you…..I am too busy drinking my coffee while setting up my old atlas over and under bridge to work on the water wings/ granite gorge configuration.

and PS, I like that Gander set up on your shelf !

Christian would faint!

Disranno like liquid ammeretto biscuits, scrumptious. The orange flavour at the same time? I would need to investigate that.I. Mix Cointreau or grand mariner with loads of things, but the disranno is either straight or in an Italian coffee although I use pure cream and the other half often adds have a chocolate flake.
