Hughie: It's actually a cool way to build a yard in a congested triangular space. GF was built between the MainLine, and a diverting Branchline on one side, a river on another side and congested urban industrial and residential on the third side. Not to mention another railroad (the B&O) crossing overhead and a city street (Grays Ferry Avenue), also crossing overhead. It's like a prototype bowl of spaghetti.
I know him personally. I checked in with him 2 days ago. He hasn't called me back yet. I am sure he got busy with work or other. He will be along at some point.

Afternoon All,
Nothing from the train room today. Just didn't feel like doing anything today. Grandkids spending the night then lawn camp tomorrow (weather permitting). It's been rainy and overcast today and currently 75 F. More of the same tomorrow.
Greg- Neat tower and scene. I "cheated" on the skunks by putting them in Blacken It and let them get really dark. After rinsing them I just added thin white stripes.
Jesse- Nice progress.
Guy- That's cold! I almost can't imagine +24 never mind the -24

Joe- Congrats on the new cars. Great photos.

Good afternoon from So Central Wisconsin where the white gifts from above were supposed to stop at 10am this morning. We are at about 4” that now is supposed to stop around 6pm. The weather guessers have the temperatures correct, +2 and wind chills of -18. Yes, the winds are howling today.
I didn’t check in this morning and 1 3/4 pages to read before I was able to write.
texasJim, so sad to read about the officers losing their lives in the line of duty. A few bad apples have yes spoiled the barrel but where would we be without those brave and wonderful men and women. RIP.
It always amazes mean reading or seeing ice road covered accidents. Yes, I have driven in this crap since 16 in the winters but for the most part we slow down. That Fed Ex guy barreling into the pileup looked like he was at full speed and should have known better. Just tragic the big Fort Worth and later in the day the Austin accidents.
My son texted, I don’t believe he knows you can call on phones, and was driving around Austin. Dry and 30 but no one working at the Tesla site. I check in daily there on YouTube as there are 5 different guys who fly drones there almost daily, none now for 2 days not including today because of the icy roads. The son went home to his place on the westside of Austin to turn off his water as he basically has been staying with his g/f on the east side of Austin about a mile from the Tesla build.
I have the g/d from 1 already to about 7 depending on road conditions. Her little brother has hockey games on the road today and no siblings allowed under the rinks and local youth hockey groups rules, 2 adults per player. The state is lessening the group gathering rules but it doesn’t affect the hockey. No matter the weather, hockey parents travel as very few games ever get cancelled.
I have not worked on the Paper Mill since Xmas, I have been thinking about it, but the grain buildings HAVE to get painted.
My jab is still on for Tuesday.

The Lady Em is spotting a barge at the coal dock.

Skimmed the days posts and lots of nice pics Boris I am a sucker for the old shots so the Grays Ferry takes the cake, however Lee has some beautiful shots of his layout and Stumpy showed off a nice winch on his flatcar.
Hughie snuck in there with a couple nice shots, too.
Many nice photos all around and I will not mention the cold today. I live in St. Paul Minnesota so there are some on the forum on both sides of me.
I shared this photo a couple years ago but with all the weather talk, here is a photo of the Wyoming depot area around 1917.

OOOPS! Good Afternoon One and All. Forgot that I said that I would return, here I am. It made it up to freezing a little while ago. We decided to stick it out here due to potential traffic issues over the next few days. No frozen pipes yet, drains are all working as designed mostly. That "S-trap" under the shower freezes up, but a bucket of hot water before use takes care of that. Sunday and Monday are going to be our critical days here, but it won't be as bad as the winter of '89 when it was below 10° for ten days and below 32° for three weeks straight. Of course I was thirty years younger back then.
The case of beer that I left in the car from grocery shopping yesterday is nice and cold. Unfortunately the neighborhood birds are having to drink the soapy water from bathing and washing the cloths that comes out of my "greywater" drain in the field, since my pond and the water on top of the pool cover both froze over.
Yesterday at the grocery, it was very crowded. I usually go on Thursdays so I don't know if Friday was the reason or if it was people getting ready to hunker down. I purchased four lobster tails to fix for my wife's birthday, since we never go out on Fridays anyway. Cooked them a whole new way for me, steamed them (with lemon, bay leaves and garlic in the steamer water), without splitting the shell. It worked and they were delicious.

And my wife thanks each and everyone of you for the birthday well wishes. Too bad that she thinks that all of you are like Sherrel, who she has actually met! lol Just kidding Sherrel!
Still too chilly for modeling in the train shed, but I can report that trains out there still run well. I operated for about 45 minutes.
So back to the archives for some random shots.
I have a lot of motorcycles scattered about, here are some completed and two incomplete ones.
These all came in kits from JL Innovative designs. I added the kick stands.

And something a little different to get me out of my winter doldrums. Part of my tomato harvest in June 2017.

James - That's a lot of ties just for scenery. I haven't even made a dent into the bag of 500 that I purchased a few years ago.
Alan - I love the cast metal details in this kit. It took a while to paint them all, but I enjoyed it. I do believe that 70% of the cost of nice kits can be in the details. Bar Mills doesn't usually include as many as were in this kit, plus I added a few from the stash.
That tractor repair shed looks like a real fun kit to do.
The Tony Thompson link this morning brought back the memory of reading his most interesting article on MRH a few years ago. Even though his era predates mine by a decade or two, I garnered a lot of knowledge from it.
Hughie - My vote is still leave "Waterfront Willie's" in the river scene.
Chad - Yes that was sad news about Chick Corea. Unfortunately I never got to see him in concert. My very favorite album by him is 'My Spanish Heart'. Armando's Rhumba being my favorite track.
Karl - An advanced Happy Birthday to your wife. Good news on the surgery follow-up.
Joe - At least you're on the list. I like how counties are doing the vaccine here, a very large sports venue with drive through vaccines and only those with appointments are allowed in line.
Tom O - It is sinful how most Texas drivers drive on ice. And so many of them think that 4WD will protect them. How mistaken they are.
Time to go and pop a top. Everybody have a great rest of the day. Keep warm.

Well fellas, the news from Nathan's Crossroads is that a massive hurricane (Cat 5) ripped thought this evening. The only casualty appears to be the freight depot, thankfully still closed during renovations. When crews return to work on Monday, they will have their hands full with demo and building the new depot.
My boy got a little rowdy and stepped on it. My wife was using the workbench (aka the kitchen table) for a jigsaw puzzle, so I was working on the roadbed on the living room floor.
Man I need a train room.

Evening all,
Today is the 30th anniversary of 30th birthday and it's colder than hell. Winter storm advisory through Monday. Churches already closing for tomorrow.
Spent 4 hours working on the boy's house. Floor refinished are coming in on Thursday, so that will stop me until they are done.

Going with the Summer theme of the day, SWMBO has already placed her order for another planter box, but twice this sized (this one is 8 ft!) Also son #3's fiancé wants one, So I know I will have help building it.
