There are Belgians with fruit extract added in. There's no telling what sort of weird stuff you'll find in a Belgian beer or ale. However, along with the Czechs, they make some of the best beer on the planet.

The original Budweiser was originally Czech and I think they still make it. You can bet it doesn't taste like St. Louis swill though. There was a legal proceeding a long time ago about Anheuser using that name for their beer. I'm not sure what the outcome of the case was.
IIRC, it was because Bud used rice as one of the grains.

We have several micro-breweries that haven't closed down yet that still produce both Czech and German pilsners. I just dont' get the love for the race to the bitterest IPA out here.

And I'm sorry, but Sam Adams just produced the Old English 800 of the year.🤮

The dispute between Anheuser‑Busch and the Czech brewery Budweiser Budvar began in 1907 and has involved more than 100 court cases worldwide.

They’re still using the name, so I guess we know how at least part f the legal stuff turned out.

Good Morning All. Clear and 27°, not as cold as the 23° predicted but cold enough. Mother Nature has had enough of this nonsense and the warmup starts today. While today will only be in the mid-50's, we're looking at upper-60's to mid-70's for the next ten days. The mysterious rain towards the end of the 10 day forecast published yesterday has disappeared, so the drought continues. As far as my records indicate, we had 0.25" back on October 16, which has been our only rain since September 22!

Too cold and windy to do anything significant outside yesterday besides bringing in firewood. That will change this morning as the burn barrel is full and needs to be ignited. I'll resume cutting some firewood now that I have been cleared for semi-heavy lifting. There are a few branches down in the yard from the recent winds. Wintertime tree pruning will start soon, but I won't need to start the mower anytime soon. Don't know if there is anything on the honey-do list that I didn't get to yesterday.

Positive visit with the NP at the electrocardiologist office yesterday. Cleared for 20# lifting and a return to mostly normal activities. EKG, while just providing an instant snapshot showed all things normal. And the bruises still on one thigh are not unusual. Other side has almost completely cleared. Another visit with the PCP this Friday will be the last physician visit until mid-February, so everyone expects me to live that long!
EDIT: Plans changed since my wife seems to have a bladder infection, so we're making our combined PCP visit this afternoon instead of Friday. Guess that I won't have time to shovel snow today!

Out in the train shed yesterday, I piddled with a few different things. I added 14¢ to a 40' container to provide weight for the Athearn well car that I assembled last week.

Took a look at the pipe load that I have spent a day or so assembling.

I decided that it could use another row, so I made another dunnage set.

That's as far as I got with it. I already have the soda straws cut to length because I originally planned 5 rows high.
I also turned my attention to the upcoming ongoing quarterly layout cleanup project. Nothing yet except looking, as the first step in the section that I am going to start, is to empty the east wall staging yard, (north on the layout). Twelve tracks between 16' and 19' long must be emptied. I'll run all of these trains out into the lower level passing sidings, the other end staging yard and along the main line while I clean and vacuum the whole thing. I don't take anything off the layout when doing this.

Just 10 of the 12 tracks have any occupants, so that makes it easier(?).

Tom O - Another alternative to the bridge kit issue, if you are willing to do it, is to take a hammer to it and send him the pieces. That is unless you can either sell it elsewhere or use it yourself.
Mike - That Old Style beer was a cheap alternative to the Old Milwaukee when OM wasn't available. Just as bad, but it was beer.
David (Marlin) - I have always had great service from Bar Mills, although not as good as what you related. They're quite "down home" on the phone and they actually answer it.

Today is National Bacon Day. That's a holiday I can really sink my teeth into.
Everyone have a great Tuesday.

I'm always interested in hearing about beer. It's like a hobby with me.
That makes two of us!

I am 25% German. My grandfather's family comes from Lower Saxony.

Growing up in Baltimore without really knowing my grandfather and being too young to drink when he passed away, I developed a taste for American lagers.

I love beer! In the past, I’ve had it for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Diabetes has taken away the ability to drink much, but reading and talking about it won’t raise my glucose.

I wish I had the real estate for yards that long!

I'm 50% German and 50% Scots Irish. Every now and then I get the uncontrollable urge for a Guinness Stout...but I try to keep it in check. 🤣🍻

Bud used rice as one of the grains.
The two beers are completely different.

Budweiser Budvar (Czech Budweiser) is a Czech lager brewed with traditional barley malt and Saaz hops, with no rice. “The Beer of Kings” as it was known. Czech Budweiser (Budvar) is a richer, hoppier, more flavorful, classic European lager.

Budweiser (Anheuser‑Busch) is an American‑style pale lager brewed with up to 30% rice. “The King of Beers” An American adaptation. American Budweiser is a light, crisp, mild, rice‑based, beer designed for the American market.

The two beers are distinct in brewing process, ingredients, and flavor. Even though they share the name, they are completely different beers. They don’t taste alike at all. They share a name because of the historic Budweis brewing region, not because the beers are similar. Budweiser originally meant beer from Budweis.

Adolphus Busch was directly involved in creating the American Budweiser after visiting the Austro-Hungarian Empire. He wanted to create a Bohemian-style beer for the American Market. Working with Carl Conrad, they developed a lighter, Bohemian‑style lager and called it Budweiser inspired by the Bohemian city of Budweis.

"Adolphus Busch was directly involved in creating the American Budweiser after visiting the Austro-Hungarian Empire. He wanted to create a Bohemian-style beer for the American Market."

He failed.
From a business standpoint I would say Budweiser was a tremendous success.

Beginning in the late 1970s Budweiser was the #1 selling beer in the US. Bud Light surpassed Budweiser in 2001, ending Bud’s long run at the top in the US.

Budweiser has consistently ranked #2 globally only behind massive Chinese brands which are largely unknown outside of China.

I should really spend the time moving the data over to the playground. I'd have to retrain the AI in the playground, because it doesn't talk to the official Chat App. they exist in separate universes. Dr Doom vs Iron Man or something.
You should be able to ask the current session to give a summary of everything sufficient to transfer to another session / GPT.
