Good morning all!

Wife said last night she wants to start taking some of the Christmas decorations down. It will mean several trips for me hauling
up totes and then carrying them back down. Im not sure how much she intends to take down but my guess is once she gets
started it all may come down. We are not ones to keep it up too long after Christmas is over. There have been a few years we
have taken it down the day after.

Not much else going on here at the moment.

Have a safe day everyone!

The one advantage of not decorating for Christmas is not having to pack it all up until next year.

It’s not over until Jan 7, today being the 4th day of Christmas and epiphany being Jan 6.
Amen.

When my wife ran convivence stores one of her managers put up her Christmas tree and decorations at home the day after Halloween and took them all down on December 26th. I never could wrap my head around that.

I used to take down the Christmas Tree the weekend after the super bowl, but it was still in January back then.
Not that you should argue with your wife).
Excellent advice!

Morning all,

I have indeed complained about the fence. I approximately 250' of fence that is slowly getting replaced. I had a bid las spring to replace the whole fence at about $35000, yes 35 thousand.
$140 per linear foot?!?!? I paid $55/ft, back in April, for the section I had done with galvanized posts and a metal framed gate. They nalso had to carry all the old up 32 stairs and the new down 32 stairs. We did just get a basic, nothing fancy, cedar fence though.

We had 3 bids. Two were within $100 of each other and the other was $105/ft. The expensive quote needs to pay for all its radio and tv advertising

I've decided to leave the Christmas Tree, trains and decorations set up in the family room. I never did finish it this year. God willing I will have it finished for next year! As I get older and slower I need to find ways to accomplish the things that are important to me. We haven't needed the space in the family room since we stopped having big gatherings.

You never commented about my Budweiser Clydesdale image. 😁 I thought you would like that. ;)

Good morning all!

A wet and foggy Sunday morning. Currently its raining fairly heavy. Good thing is sits too warm so non of it will fall as snow.
The temp is 48F and it probably wont get too much warmer. The cold front will come thru later and drop the temps like a rock.
Low teens for lows tonight.

That inside Christmas removal usually will start here the 1st full weekend of the new year. There are rumblings it may happen on the 1st this season. 23 bins will come out of storage and the shuffle will begin. Typically done in less than 24 hours. Before retirement it took days to set up and take down. I sure don’t miss that

I love the Budweiser Clydesdale draft horses. One of my favorite horse breeds. I hate what they have on their wagon.

Well, just because I'm in a small house, I packed up the Christmas stuff at the end of Christmas day. It wasn't much, the ceramic tree, a needlepoint of Mrs Claus, and two strings of lights. Basically, enough to let the neighbors know I knew what holiday it was.

We have throttled back over the years as well. We used to go all out and do the outside of the house too. The only reason we went a little more wild this year is we hosted 2 of the 3 events we usually have, so more got put out this year. Next year should be a little tamer as we should be off the hook for hosting next year.

Yes, they did. That was the airline that our beloved Sherrel flew for. He switched to cargo 747's after that.
My mother hung up on the White House. It was 1965, my father was Area Manager for Pan Am Airways. He oversaw all food and drink for the entire East coast as well as Europe. At the time Pan Am did catering for Air Force One. My father would clear a section of kitchen area at JFK of the Pan Am folks, and then a dedicated crew came in, prepared what meals were needed. Everything was loaded to secured carts and guards were posted. The only civilian allowed was my father. One early morning, 2 AM ish, the phone rang, my mother answered, "Mrs. Fxxxxxx, this is Captain Hxxxx from the White House, I need to speak with Mr. Fxxxxxxx". Mom, "sure you are" and hung up the phone. It immediately rang again, "Really Mrs. Fxxxxxx, this is the White House and I need to speak with Mr. Fxxxxxxx" Mom elbowed Dad, "Here it's White House for you". It turned out that Air Force One would be landing at JFK and would need meals and booze supplied at 6:00 AM.

Added another inexpensively purchased structure for the swap meet. I've found that "good enough" sells. Large, intricate, highly detailed models (wood or plastic) draws interest, but no buyers. Too fragile, space considerations, & cost is my theory.

If this was going on my layout it would have been done a lot differntly. I tried the Walthers decals again and just gave up.
