Here's some of the "pets" that come through the yard:

Tanuki - referred as a racoon dog. The ones that pass through look nice and plump, so probably someone feeding them as they are kinda revered in Japan.

Chinese civet - nice padded feet and can climb fences. In the pic, one is coming down the fence on the right. First time I saw one, I though it was a big, furry cat. The anti-cat mat has no effect on them with their pads. View attachment 252809

And a bonafide racoon. I don't think they are indigenous.

You have very large trash bandits.

It would be fine if they just pass through, but they usually leave "gifts".

Forgot this furry animal leaving a gift in front of the neighbor's house.

I look dead right now and I am only 73!
Did you see the photo I posted from Christmas? I'm only 62!
Yeah, but how old is it? 😂
What are we to do with you? 🤪

Just to reassure you, it is less than two months old.

When it comes to beer I buy something different every time. I saw the Busch in the store and thought of my late friend Charlie. When we drove to Ocean City Maryland as teenagers, we each bought a case of beer for the road. He bought Busch, I bought Colt 45.

Public Service Announcement:
See Dick drink; see Dick drive.
See Dick die; don't be a Dick.
Don't drink and drive.

What up coffee friends!

i survived the christmas fest! and now back at work at the airport.
also the airport survived no major issues detected, should be at least IT wise a quiet week.
but two days ago a swiss aircraft did run over the end of the runway in finnland. slippery track, the finns can handle this condition easy, but it looks like not the swiss guys :D because as you all know we dont know the condition "snow" hahaha. Well no one got hurt so all good, just a plane after the end of the runway :D

wish you all a great week.

cheers
Marco

It isn't Milwaukee's finest, PBR, Black Label beer or whatever cheap stuff that we had back in the mid 80's. We had a guy that was retiring while I was stationed in Key West. He was in charge of the command picnic and bought the beer that the stores were basically giving away. Yeah, there was a lot of left overs that he probably took home.

I just looked up the pay charts of 1986. He was making 1450/mo as an E6 @ 20 years. I was making 850/mo as an E5 under 2 years. I remember only having bread and mayo a few days away from the next pay day, but I still wouldn't drink that stuff! 🤢

During high school in the mid to late-60's, it was Old Milwaukee, 3 quarts for $1.

Which beer was "artesian Spring water" and wasn't their a commercial about fish peeing in those artisian pools? Something about you want good filtered water, not fish pee?

Anyway, It's Troy Again, still not drinking beer. But I do vaguely remember the commercials (Less Filling!)

So far this morning I redesigned one of my book covers that I just redesigned. the new version wasn't quite right, so I had to sleep on it for a few days to figure it out. Got new images this morning and did this:

05 French press 2026 FLAT.jpg

Old one I was too concentrated on an early event, and not the one that sets the theme for the magical menhir. The girl is the same style as the other 10 books now. She had short hair in the last iteration, but the book don't mention her getting her hair bobbed. So we needed to go back to longer hair.

I know I've mentioned this glitch on our favorite auction site before. When browsing listings, the listing description, text, and captions for photos will appear in other languages than English, which is my language setting. Generally, but not always, the other language is Spanish. I can usually figure out what is being stated, but sometimes I need to copy into a translation program, with mixed results. Ebay has been blaming my ISP for using a dynamic IP address, and my web browser for anonymizing my location. However, I've changed providers to one with a static IP address, and changed browsers, as well. The problem persists, though now with another twist thrown in. I am now getting suggested items on their home page, and when I open them, they are sales or auctions with local pickup only, from several thousand miles away, or even in other countries. Ebay is still insisting the problem is on my end, even when I use different browsers with no preferences saved, and browse Ebay logged out.
Things came to a head when I logged in and performed a search for an item within 25 miles of my zip code, and still got hundreds of listings from as far away as Los Angeles.

Has anybody else experienced this, or is this another Terry/Murphy thing?

Morning all,

22° and clear this morning with a windchill of 9°. Supposed to get back to a balmy 33° and a warming trend the rest of the week. We will once again be above the average of 44° for the new year.

Terry: I quit using eBay for the same reasons. Asking it for a certain mileage around, and get listings from further out, including Canada and Great Britain. I hate using the internet on my cell as AT&T's hub is in the Chicago metro area, so if I'm looking for something at say at Lowe's it directs me to a Chicago area Lowe's. Work cell on Verizon, has Dallas as it's base.

And this weather update:

Screenshot 2025-12-29 at 8.15.01 AM.png

With the 20mph winds and feels like a bone chilling 4 F-degrees (at least we have F-degrees - it's minus 10 C degrees!)

Wife had a haircut scheduled for today. Her girl texted to move it to tomorrow. Sounds like the stylist decided staying home was the better part of being warm. But the forecast is almost the same for tomorrow. Windy (slightly less), less snow chance, but still bitter cold.

Edited to add this meme. Our end of the state got up to high 50s/low 60s yesterday.

Terry: Good job on getting a static. Does your ISP do a 'reverse' on it; in-addr.arpa? If so, bet your banking is better. Years ago, we had Hughes Net and all thought I lived in Virginia. eBay has changed over the years, duh, and they don't seem to get anything right anymore. Craigslist is another as is FaceBook Market Place; there are probably more.

A balmy 18°F/-17°FWC this cloudy morning after a high of 72°F yesterday. Good morning all!

An antenna check this morning revealed that all were still standing straight and tall after last night's blowing wind. There were many wind gusts that made me think I way not going to be on the radio for several days, but everyone survived.

Have a good week folks!

Servus!
