Good evening all.
David - Interesting family history regarding your mother and the RAF planes that you've mentioned a couple of times. Your family deserves to be proud of her.
Can you send your granddaughter across the pond to do some scenery for me?

Dawn and I make sure our family are proud of my mother. She packed such a lot into her short life.

Being around aircraft was not a life for me. Road haulage and ships was my destiny.

Our son wanted to join the RAF and was a Cadet before he enlisted.

Will our younger granddaughter be the same? She loves being around aircraft and Military Hardware, plus 1-1 railways.

Willie Older granddaughter is the 'Arty Type'. She may be living 'over the pond' quicker than we think. Daughter and SiL are looking to emigrate to Canada. (Just talking about it at present.)

Still morning in Wisconsin.

We are up to 18f degrees but it feels like 10 and seems damp!

About 20 minutes ago I applied the last matte clear coat on the swing bridge. I could play with that bridge for the next week every day and add a touch of rust, dirt, a streak there, one over there… But I’m calling it done. If John wants any adjustments I will do them at the river scene

Both approach bridges should be done but I guess I used 2 different bridge shoes and never noticed it! Different shoes but different size and heights also. The chief inspector caught it. I love the one 66’ girder bridge but not thrilled with the 42’ bridge. I should build another but he wants to install them on Wednesday. He’s thinking once the bridges are in that’s it. I told him not to solder all the track but in a picture he sent me they look soldered for 48”. I need to weather the track going on the bridge but if he glues the track to the bridges I’m not sure I can reach. This is one of those projects you can always make an adjustment to

The grandson invited me to race him and his crew plus their granddads tonight. One of the granddads texted me this morning asking how many 1/24th scale cars do the kids have, r there enough for the eight of us tonight? We normally run 1/32 but the kids just crush us and he thinks the 1/24th cars take more skill than just full speed into the turn, touch the brake and barrel through. There’s the kids 4 and I have 2…

Enjoy the afternoon

Good afternoon folks, 44 here and sunny in Central MO. Supposed to get to 57 tomorrow. We went to Outback yesterday afternoon and had one of the loooooooooooongest waits for food ever. Took almost 2 hours to go in, we got seated right away and from then on it was long stretches of waiting for our drinks, order our meal and then wait........... It was really ridiculous and then they got the order wrong! And we had two drunk women behind us who were loud and obnoxious. Then they had the bill wrong...
We were glad to escape.
Today was just the opposite, we went to Panera's and the soup was great, service fast and even got an extra discount.
Got some new seat covers for the van. And found some old railroad books on fleabay and ordered them last night.

Evening folks, the sun decided to come out today, but as of now its 42. This Monday was kinda boring but I guess that's a good thing in a way. Did finish off on a high note with meatballs and spaghetti with green beans for supper! :)

I stopped drinking beer several years back, just never developed a taste for it. Rum and coke (or whatever-liquor with whatever-soda) suites me fine.

Seems like Outback has been on the downward slide for a while, we rarely go to the local. Much better places to eat at. I always found it funny that my mom and dad watched OJ's police chase while eating there.😁

Good evening to all......

9 pm here in west Texas. 65 with sunshine today and wind very light. Good day to be out so I went to town to hit the bank, post office, drop off garbage and stop at the grocery store. Got a free 2026 calendar at the bank. They take great care of me and both of my dollars there. Supposed to 70 tomorrow, 65 Wed and back to 70 Thur.

One thing for sure, I won't be going to Benihanas' anytime soon. Truth is I have never gone there ever, just not my "thing". However back in 1990s and early 2000s, I ate at Outback Steakhouse about once every two months. The "Queens Filet" was my favorite. I am a creature of habit and I always ate at the Outback in Irving Texas as the food was always done right and the service was very good.

My ABBA set of Santa Fe , F3 freight locos came today and the AB set of GM, F3 demonstrator units arrived Saturday. They all look great. Now I'll have to spend both of those dollars I have at bank for DCC decoders and speakers. However there is no rush for that as I still have some layout work to be finished. If Willie lived a bit closer, I could let him run the Sant Fe locos on his layout until I installed the decoders. I'm looking forward to seeing the ABBA set running together.

Worked a bit on the 2-8-0 loco rebuild I have and I have started to re-assemble the loco. I have replaced the cracked gear, pressed on a replacement gear and re-installed the flywheel. But there is a plastic piece that holds the front steam cylinders and cowcatcher in place and it is cracked. So, I'll have to make another as Bachmann does not offer this piece in their parts store. It is always something.

So much about I, me and my stuff.

Have a peaceful night..........John
