Troy - It seems to me that defendant chatting with a potential juror is grounds for a mistrial? I'm surprised that that didn't come up! RE the metal detector: We had to go through one the first time we entered the courtroom. But we were sent back out into the hallway several times after that, and we did not go through the detector again??? Any juror could have easily gone to their vehicle during those breaks and gotten a bomb or firearm and brought it back in.
BTW The judge in the case we went in for was a spittin' image of Senator Marsha Blackburn of Tennessee.
I believe that only kicks into mistrial if a jury has been seated. All of this was before the Voir Dir (jury selection) actually began.

We were all down in the holding pen, waiting to go to the courtroom. Two hours of pacing, reading, watching the red hat guy carry his huge Bible around... None of us saw the inside of the courtroom.

Good morning all!

Happy Hump day!

A cloudy, hazy, damp morning out there. Currently 27F with an expected high of only 31. They say maybe a light rain/snow mix later before
the bottom falls out on the temps. Low tonight is supposed to dip to 0F.

Not much going on around here. Just the usual laundry, some light vacuuming, and dishwasher. Dog is at the groomers to get scrubbed
up and not smell like a dog again. i have to run out later to CVS and get key FOB batteries. The wife's Pacifica flashed low FOB battery on
the way to drop my daughter off at school this morning. Also my Jeep has a low tire light that has been on since Sundays wintery weather.
its easier running to the gas station and filling it then firing up my little pancake compressor which is still in the basement with the air line
way back from using it to install backdrops.

Always something!

Have a safe day everyone!

Good morning all. 31 here and cloudy, might hit 40 today.
On the subject of a defendant talking to someone in the Courthouse can be interpreted bu intent. If he didn't know the person was in the Jury Pool, probably no charge. However, if he suspected or knew the person was in the Jury Pool, that is considered Jury Tampering and is an additional felony.
On Fleabay, I did find a newly listed HO Roundhouse steam locomotive kit for $45 BiN, so it is on it's way here to be painted up for the GD. It's a Vanderbilt Tender 2-8-0.
Hope you all have a good day, Merry Christmas!

Fleabay - I am surprised by how much people are willing to spend on stuff. Items that cost 800 yen (~$5) are being sold for $90 and up. Even the jungle site is starting to do stuff like that. I always have to remind myself that the jungle site includes venders and personal sellers.

Personally if you’re looking to buy train equipment on Amazon for the most part you are looking to get ripped off. I have yet to find something on Amazon that is cheaper then buying direct from Hiawatha Hobby, Spring Creek Model RR, Midwest Model RR or Lombard Hobby. In most cases buying direct and including shipping is still cheaper than Amazon.

eBay. It’s mixed! IF you know what your doing, know model railroad pricing you can do well. If not well again IMONyounare begging to get taken to the cleaners. The nice thing about eBay, it doesn’t match the descriptions they almost always will get you a refund

Of course your mileage and opinions may vary

Yeah, gotta do the research first on either site nowadays

Amazon, for me, has been good most of the time for train stuff. Shipping is free and most of the time, next day. If the price is higher than retail, then I check who the seller is and go elsewhere.

I got taken at ebay one time. Saw a speaker switch and put in a bid before researching it. Ended up paying a little bit more than retail.

Stimpy, you eeeediotttt! haha

I have actually been surprised a couple of times on Amazon. I picked up 2 of the Walthers add-on silo kits for a little cheaper that I could get it anywhere else and it was on my door in 2 days. Not many hobby shops could of done that.

My Powercab DCC system came from Amazon as well. It was the same price as any of the big E0tailers were selling it at and with free shipping and no tax (tells you how long ago that was) It probably came out cheaper and I got it faster.

As for EBay, shipping has gotten so ridiculous that it I barely look there anymore. With having hundreds of pieces of rolling stock I don't need anymore sitting under the layout never to seen anyway.

Yeah that’s mostly been the way I see it as well though I’ve occasionally been surprised. Some vendors sell at the same price on Amazon for items and I get my kickback from my Amazon visa.

I did buy a KATO Rhätische Bahn Starter Set from Japan on U.S. Amazon. The price was reasonable for one already in the U.S. (I checked). The Amazon.jp price less but by the time the shipping was added it it was as expensive. This was pre tariff. Normally Amazon.jp had reasonable shipping costs when buying a bookcase twin or two or a bunch of individual locomotive and rail cars but the starter set size and weight pushed it way up.

I’ve checked US and foreign trains on US Amazon and it’s generally not a great deal but it’s worth checking as sometimes you do find a good deal.

I’m with my son up on top of the Shonuya Sky building. On the roof observation deck. It’s the 46th floor. It’s sunny and kind of breezy. Big 8-9’ tall glass walls but I still don’t like getting up close to the edge. I do it slowly.

Here is a shot from where we’re sitting on some couches looking East. I’ll upload more from my laptop later as most of the ones I tried to insert have been rotated.
