After 3.5 hours, the platform lights are once again in service. Looks a lot better too.

The jist of it was, I had to drill new holes in not only the platform, but the sub-roadbed too so the wiring could pass through. Then there's all the soldering. I used suitcase taps to wire them into the main 16VAC power supply though. Just easier than working above my shoulders.

But, yeah, the platform in the middle of the tracks is not in the dark anymore. The end platform on the other side of the tracks is lit up too. I plan to eventually install lighting in that short platform at the end. I have the clear roof just resting on the pillars so I could tend to this task later on.

Good Evening All. Just dropping in to say hello because I must rise and shine early due to being called for jury duty tomorrow morning at our county courthouse 22 miles away. They're asking for "business casual" dress which I don't really own any of! But business casual in Texas can include a golf shirt and blue jeans, which is what I wore to work for 40+ years. It works for church, so why not a courthouse?
Maybe I'll be disqualified if the defendant happens to be my incarcerated neighbor.
See you whenever. Good Night.
A friend of mine some years back did not like doing jury duty. When they interviewed each prospective juror, he said they usually ask if you have any preconceived notions on innocence or guilt in a case. His answer was always, " well he must be guilty because he was arrested by the police and they don't arrest innocent people". He always was dismissed as a juror.

At least they had a sign. Many I’ve seen, don’t.

But I think you’re right. That sort of thing is not common in the western world. It’s a good idea though.

Japanese public bathrooms are interesting. I’ll see if I can sneak a few pics.
We had them installed in our bathrooms at the office during the great global pandemic everybody get your shots period. At first, they put a big foot pump jug of alcohol outside the bathrooms. I used that to clean the toilet seat until they installed the ones in the stalls. I don't know if they still have them or not.

Good morning gang!

They WERE predicting a little snow, then changing to sleet then rain. We got a few dozen flakes, a little sleet, then buckets of rain!
Local schools, 2 hours late because of more ice in the northern part of the county. Just a cold nasty day.

2 years, 1 month and 28 days til I can stay in bed on days like this! I can't wait!!!
Strong suggestion from a retiree! Dont count your days. You’ll go nuts as the days will really drag. Embrace and prepared but don’t count.

Took a two hour nap today, since I didn't sleep well last night. Stress about jury duty got my tinnitus flaring. It's now mostly in check.

Wife and I went to Pizza King for supper. She passed up getting a free bumper sticker that said: I ❤️ Pizza King. Oh well. Guess she doesn't want to advertise her love for Indiana pizza.

Right now it's Yessongs on the earbud, and a bourbon Manhattan in a chilled coupe glass to unwind.

the nice judge lady told us she'd ask the jury office to mark us all as "showed and waited" or whatever so we go to the bottom of the list for the next two years. Since we weren't seated as a jury, there is no "Get out of Jury Duty" card for us. But, she says we should be last ones called for the next two years.
That’s interesting. I’ve not been in a long while but I was called for federal duty a while back. Went down and sat in a room with a bunch of other folks and hour or two. Judge comes in and says a deal was reached and we could all go home and that this counted so we wouldn’t be called again for however many years you our good for after serving. He said it applied to state courts as well so if we got called by the state system he told us what to say. They may have given us a slip of paper with the details that showed we’d been called up.

I like this scene, looks like a good candidate for a backdrop. So I plugged it into Google Gemini, here’s what it returned

This scene strongly suggests a modern, high-density, waterside city, likely based on a Japanese or highly modern Asian metropolis (like Tokyo, Yokohama, or a similar port city) due to the architectural styles and the visible elevated rail lines.

It went on for another page suggesting ways I could use it for a model railroad backdrop.
