Good Morning All. Here it is clear and 37°, although around the corner about a mile away, the Weather Underground station is showing 43°. I don't think his equipment has updated yet. Sunny and upper 60's is the forecast with no wind. Another perfect fall day.
Yesterday, I cut and stacked another 5 days worth of firewood for next winter. One pile diminishes while the other pile grows. I also did some mowing with the push mower.
I almost feel that I am cheating the medical profession right now. Happily, it's been two months since my last medical appointment, and another month to go before my next one. I probably just jinxed it.
Today looks like another good day for attacking that pile of trees over in the SW corner of the yard. I have no aches from yesterday. One of the neighbors who has to drive by on the easement road actually stopped yesterday and commented that he saw some progress. I wonder if that's a subtle hint that it might be an eyesore to them??? I told him how much fun it was and did he want to assist! He said that he needed to go home and give the dog some water.
Out in the train shed yesterday, I finished the filing and trimming of flash on the remaining white metal castings. This figure was the hardest one to do, although it didn't take as much time as the larger stone gate abutments took. Just harder to do.
That pile of filings in the corner will be made into a scrap pile for the scrap yard already on the layout.
Here it is on a piece of scrap styrene with a few drops of "wet glue" mixed in.
I'll be adding a tiny bit of rust colored weathering powder to it before adding it to it's scene.
All of the castings are in the paint booth getting a primer coat right now; gray for most, white for the door and figure castings.
Meanwhile I moved on to the small building. It is a wooden structure, but it is not laser-cut, thus making it harder to cut out without splitting the wood anywhere.
It was a successful procedure.
There was no bracing provided, but I am adding some anyway, even though it may not be needed. I cut 4 pieces from a stock piece of .080"x.080" piece of stripwood, pictured above.
Here it is in place.
In addition to bracing, it gives me a little more gluing surface to work with. Next step is priming these parts and making the roof.
Hughie - You probably posted it somewhere already, but what AI software are you using for those pictures?
Interesting mix of holidays and birthdays today. Of course the most important is National Repeal Day, where the 22nd amendment to the Constitution nullified the 18th, thus ending Prohibition.
If he were still alive, today would have been Walt Disney's 122nd birthday; Little Richard would likewise have been 90. Both memorable in different ways.
Everyone have a great day.
