When my late cat, Noel was a kitten she bit into an electrical cord as we ate dinner. I heard the commotion and grabbed Noel before unplugging the cord! I felt the power!

Thankfully I was still able to unplug the cord and Noel was ok.
Our first lab chewed on a cord and got zapped. Cured that in a hurry, she was very careful from then on not to chew them after that.

Good morning to the animal lovers and those that have felt the power of the bitten power cord!

Another 1/2” of the white stuff fell overnight but should be gone around 3pm when the temperature hits its high for the day of 38f degrees. It’s 32 now and the app says it’s foggy but not at least outside my windows.

Today is a run to the post office when it opens the lobby at 8 and then back home. The walk is back on that machine that goes nowhere and is a 3 miler. After the shower I plan to be at the bench and run some trains today. There is no building of frame work, yards or industrial areas going on currently. The wife and I are in disagreement as to the length of stay in this house. I should have built out in the stables…

enjoy your day

WOW What can I say. Weather guessers' estimate for next 14 days. Edmonton area.

Good Morning All. Here it is clear and 37°, although around the corner about a mile away, the Weather Underground station is showing 43°. I don't think his equipment has updated yet. Sunny and upper 60's is the forecast with no wind. Another perfect fall day.

Yesterday, I cut and stacked another 5 days worth of firewood for next winter. One pile diminishes while the other pile grows. I also did some mowing with the push mower.
I almost feel that I am cheating the medical profession right now. Happily, it's been two months since my last medical appointment, and another month to go before my next one. I probably just jinxed it.

Today looks like another good day for attacking that pile of trees over in the SW corner of the yard. I have no aches from yesterday. One of the neighbors who has to drive by on the easement road actually stopped yesterday and commented that he saw some progress. I wonder if that's a subtle hint that it might be an eyesore to them??? I told him how much fun it was and did he want to assist! He said that he needed to go home and give the dog some water.

Out in the train shed yesterday, I finished the filing and trimming of flash on the remaining white metal castings. This figure was the hardest one to do, although it didn't take as much time as the larger stone gate abutments took. Just harder to do.

That pile of filings in the corner will be made into a scrap pile for the scrap yard already on the layout.
Here it is on a piece of scrap styrene with a few drops of "wet glue" mixed in.
IMG_1042.JPG

I'll be adding a tiny bit of rust colored weathering powder to it before adding it to it's scene.
All of the castings are in the paint booth getting a primer coat right now; gray for most, white for the door and figure castings.
Meanwhile I moved on to the small building. It is a wooden structure, but it is not laser-cut, thus making it harder to cut out without splitting the wood anywhere.
IMG_1023.JPG

It was a successful procedure.

There was no bracing provided, but I am adding some anyway, even though it may not be needed. I cut 4 pieces from a stock piece of .080"x.080" piece of stripwood, pictured above.
Here it is in place.

In addition to bracing, it gives me a little more gluing surface to work with. Next step is priming these parts and making the roof.

Hughie - You probably posted it somewhere already, but what AI software are you using for those pictures?

Interesting mix of holidays and birthdays today. Of course the most important is National Repeal Day, where the 22nd amendment to the Constitution nullified the 18th, thus ending Prohibition.
If he were still alive, today would have been Walt Disney's 122nd birthday; Little Richard would likewise have been 90. Both memorable in different ways.

Everyone have a great day.

Morning all,

36° and clear going for a high later of 51° due to a cool front that came through yesterday.

We've been trying to upgrade the licensing on our wifi equipment. Vendor said we need an admin user to authorize the licensing, but the only admin user was the former boss who retired a couple of years ago...and me. I knew nothing about being an admin nor have I ever done anything with the equipment, nor setup some sort of portal access. So now I'm involved. Waiting on the vendor working the ticket to get in the office.

Not much else going on yet. Still haven't been able to get to the train stuff in a while. Master bedroom still not painted as I had a corner needing about 4 1/2 feet of new tape. Once I can get that sanded and the second coat done and sanded, I should be ready to finally paint the room.

A sound of the season:

Morning folks

45 degrees and forecast to hit someplace in the 50's. Although it makes my body hurt to even think about it, today and tomorrow (with the caveat I can still move tomorrow) are going to be spent jockeying the Stihl MS 460. We heat almost entirely with wood, all cut from our own place. Most is aspen, but also douglas fir and mountain maple. I use the Bobcat Toolcat 5600 to retrieve the stuff. That machine is without the slightest doubt, the most useful piece of equipment I ever purchased.

That thing looks like it will flat out move some snow!

Bet it's a lot of fun to operate!

Good morning, all! Awoke to a cloudy 53 degrees. The sun is trying to fight it's way out. I was supposed to go to a breakfast with a bunch of old work mates. We met once a month, but I overslept. On one hand it is great to see the people you worked shoulder to shoulder with. On the other hand, it is sad to see men once strong as all get out, now using walkers, some shaking, and unfortunately some no longer with us.
The grinchess is hinting at a trip to Costco today.

Willie - It's Microsoft's Co-Pilot. If you have Edge it should be there.

Create a realistic image of an abandoned train station.
Add an old passenger train.
Add some abandoned railroad track.
Make the scene in Autumn.
Add some old automobiles.

One thing I haven't figured out is, once you get a image you really like, how to keep that image and then add to that particular image.

Yes, this AI created.

STAY SAFE
LATER

Evening All,

Started out with a walk at 58F this morning. It was really hard to get motivated because of the restless night I had. After getting cleaned up and having breakfast I ran several errands. By this time, I was dragging so I took a nap. I felt better after that but just vegged.

Yesterday I received my Tichy order and what was supposed to be the diesel that turned out to be a moonshine still. I messaged the seller and supposedly he mailed it to me today.

Tomorrow MOH wants to go to Sam's Club.:( I hope to start working on the Tichy details also.

Mikey- Nice job on the trailer.

Joe- S24 of Midsomer Murders started last night on Acorn.

Troy- Nice job on the Orcs.

Bigfoot13- Nice job on the bulkhead flat and load.

Bill- Neat photo.

Willie- Good job with the wall cutting and smart to do the bracing.

David- Nice story about you and Dawn.

Grizzled- That is quite the machine!

Karl- The jury summons?

I hope everyone has a good night.

Good evening, it's 55 and cloudy.
After a couple of conversations on the phone with my health insurance company and the doctor's office, I owe $138 for non-covered-by-preventive services, and the insurance is paying the rest. And the doctor's office is accepting that.I'm still less than thrilled I had to go through all the additional hassle. I think the doctor's office saw an old guy that wouldn't know the difference, and just pay the bill. Imagine their surprise...

Good evening gang!

Jury summons is for the 2nd week in January. We will see how it turns out this time. I did get a summons about 4 years ago. Sent in a notification that I would be out of town for the indicated dates and could not attend as I was getting married in Arizona. Believe it or not, they called me the morning of the wedding and asked if I was available for duty! I asked if the had received my letter and after a bit of paper shuffling the replied yes they did, but was I still available? The Morons!! Yeah like I was gonna teleport myself there in an hour from the south rim of the Grand Canyon!

This is yet another reason why I consider the area I live in as Absurdistan! 1 hour North West from the center of Baltimore, 1 hour north of D.C.

The Rapido box arrived a day before I predicted. Inside was the following.
IMG_1466.jpg

A U.P. U25B high hood with sound/DCC, a Railcrew switch machine with rotating target, a Santa Fe mechanical reefer, a Chevy Caprice Police Car, a Union X3 tank car a bar of chocolate and (not pictured) a Rapido Christmas tree ornament . The engine runs great and sounds amazing! Merry Christmas to me!!

Oh, Sharon insisted I also include a picture of the blue Christmas ball.
IMG_1470a.jpg

She was wondering how many of the other forum members would get blue balls for Christmas. Honestly I don't understand her sometimes!
