The pipe load is made of Plastruct 1/8" pipe. I have another load in progress made of 3/32" pipe as well.
I'll add a touch of rust to the loads for weathering.
Pearl Harbour Day.
My mother's first husband had already joined the Army when the Day of Infamy occurred. He went on to join the 29th Inf Reg and crossed over the beaches of Normandy almost a month after the initial assault. He was killed in action in Sept 44 on the last day of battle at Brest, France. He was buried in The Brittany American Cemetery, Saint-James, France. Never to see home again. My mother only received a Telegram and visit from the Army in 1944. In 2001 I was able to get a picture of his headstone. She cried.
Thanks Ken. I am always looking for removal loads for flats, bulkhead and gondolas. Those look great

I will have to shorten my walks now for sure !
just be careful you don’t go over the edge

Good morning from Wisconsin. The weather channel says the White Gifts from Above are falling but I can’t see it. The temperature is at 11f/-11.6c heading to 21f/-6c if the calculator is correct.

If politicians would read and understand history, war would not occur.

Remember Pearl Harbor.

Good Morning All. Clear and 31° this morning, second freeze of the season. Maybe another one on Saturday, but otherwise fair weather for the next ten days. Should be above 80° again Thursday and Friday, typical roller coaster weather for us at this time of year.

Nothing special today except get the Christmas stuff out of the attic. Wife changed her mind about putting up the tree this year. so that's on tap this week. I will put it up earlier than our usual 12/15 date to allow her more time to decorate, as it will be just be a bit every day. I do the tree and lights and she doesn't trust me with anything else.

Her recovery is obviously going better than expected in just a week. Yesterday, she did not take any of the narcotic pain relievers, relying solely on Acetaminophen. That allowed her to have a glass of wine with supper. An aside here: She regularly asks me to get her Advil, Tylenol or Aleve, however we don't have any of those items on the medicine shelf. I never learned what the generics were for all of them and she expects me to just know them; we have them all but it is frustrating to have to ask again which generic she means! Let's see, is that ibuprofen, acetaminophen or naproxen??? End of rant. Lucky me, when I take a single ibuprofen, it lasts 24 hours+, and thankfully I only need it 10-12 times a year.

Pearl Harbor, 80 years ago today, is a notable day of remembrance. I am too young to have been around, but I remember older relatives talking about it in the mid-50's.

Man! The overnight traffic in here is getting pretty heavy, to me that's anything past 8:30 pm. I understand those across the pond, but Tom O seems to still be on Hawaii time, and Louis - who knows what world he is in? ;)

Give me a Mexican omelet today Flo. As usual, spicy salsa and OJ to go with it.

Thank you as always for the comments and reactions on yesterday's post; Patrick, Karl, Tom O, Jaz, Christian, Chad, Rick, Sherrel, Gary, Tom, IB Ken, Joe, Louis, OB Ken, Jesse.

Out in the train shed yesterday, I guess that I broke my Canon Power Shot camera. The lens no longer retracts and the error message appears that says to restart the camera. Except there is no restart button! Looking up solutions on the internet yielded a lot of solutions that didn't work, however I was still able to download the pictures that I took yesterday to the computer.
Meanwhile since I have no major projects in mind right now, and I am not ready to start that street corner for the Coffee Shop, I referred to my lengthy list of small projects to do. One stood out because it was the first one that I saw, name and upgrade a structure in downtown Vernon facing the RR tracks.

Needs a name and a purpose. It's a Smalltown USA kit called Cab Co. It is now known as Wholesale Electrical Supply. I added signs, yellow bollards and a lamp over the garage door.

Still looks naked so I added four pedestrians, one customer and three passer-bys.

Lady in the red dress is in front of the adjacent business.

Patrick - I have had no issues setting up wifi in the past, but about two years ago when the phone company came out to hook up the fiber optic with a new router, they did it for me in a whole lot shorter time. Why not, as there was no service call charges as the internet provider had a government grant to hook up our rural area. I can't really tell any difference since I rarely download stuff, but my wife's Roku works a lot better she says.
Thank you for the clarification regarding Dell, I reread my source and it indicated that he got many employees from Silicon Valley, but he himself was from Texas.
Ken (D&J) - The two op sessions sound like a real fun time. You are probably correct about folks here clicking on the Christmas songs.
Nice pipe load.
Christian - Others have answered and I agree that adding Kadee couplers and metal wheels would be an improvement to Bachmann cars. But to actually answer your original question regarding whether they will run well, yes as long as you just go forward and don't do any switching. Note that those horn-hook couplers will not couple with a Kadee coupler, so if you run a mix of cars, you will need some "transition" cars with one of each coupler on either end.
Tom O - I mainly vote for policies not personalities. Right now, I believe that someone else is actually running the show.
I like the debris on the pulpwood cars. The shots that I looked at of the HS were on Bing.
Joe - Best wishes on a speedy recovery.

Tomorrow evening our DIL goes into the hospital for labor inducement for grandson #3, who should be born Thursday. It will be grandchild #4 for us. His name will be Liam, shortened from my name of William. William is also his other grandfather's name, his uncle's name and my son's middle name.

Everybody have a great day. Be safe.

Good Morning!
Wow! Miss a day of coming in, and find yourself 5 pages behind!

What does one say about today? - Happy Pearl Day! - Duck - There seems to b a little nip in the air!? - I'm not sure if Pearl day is celebrated like Remembrance Day, but, I'll bet it's an extremely important day to our American friends. - I don't think it hits us as hard, because we were already heavily engaged in the war for a few years when Pearl took place. Many of us and our allies had already died fighting, including direct family members on my parents side. - My own parents had been made guest's in a German concentration camp by the time Pearl happened, both having been radio operators for the Dutch.
I suppose we are all tied to that war in some way, even though we were mostly born after the event.

Joe - so sorry to hear you are ill. God's speed in recovery!

Willie - You need to replace that Canon PowerShot right away, less it takes away from your ability to post photos. Luckily, you can get an almost new, top caliber digital on the Bay. They often go for cheap, because people don't seem to be using real cameras anymore. They seem to be trusting their phones, like they've got some kind of instamatic in the 1950's.

Yesterday, in-between the wife's 'go on a date' harassment, I was able to get the front signage placed into my Cafe':
CoffeeShop_12-06-2021 (1).jpg

I'm happy about that, as I can now finally start putting things together. About time; it's only been about a year!
I'd like to start putting walls up today, but, the wife is still off work. So anything can happen. - We'll see by days end.

Have a great day!

I was just looking for something over on Model Railroader....errrr... Trains.com

I had subscribed to their MRR Video plus service

Then Trains.com video stuff came along.

This summer I kept paying for Vid+ even though I didn't watch anything on it... MRR is a winter activity for me. I'll get back to it.

I'm not finding videos there I want to watch. And the series that I did find on MRR V+ (Gary Leone and Steve Brown - both with content they don't put on their own Utubes) aren't on MRRV+... looks like it's over on the trains.com service.

Blah... I don't want to spend another $5 a month to get what I used to have before.

Afternoon All,

Made a speed run to the LHS this morning picking up 5 pieces of flex track and another bag of static grass. After getting home I "cut in" a turnout and laid down the main section of cork roadbed. I discovered that I need about 21" of track past the Turnouts to fit an ABA consist. This means that the black water tank and the MMW water pumping station have to be moved.

Thank you all for the likes yesterday for my photos. It really blew me away.

Mikey- Thank you.

Tom- That was really loud.

Terry- I wish you the best.

D&J- Nice looking load.

IB Ken- Thank you. You have to remember I'm retired and have lots of free time (don't tell my wife). :)

Joe- Thank you. I hope you get better quickly. I had never heard of a flange oiler! I actually had to research it. Should be easy enough to model though.

TomO- Thank you and thanks for the gluing tip.

James- I may have to invest in one of those.

Jesse- That photo is funny. I really like Tamiya paint. Strangely it smells like bananas to me in the jar.

Willie- Nice scenes.

Guy- Nice looking cafe signs.

Jaz- Excellent rust effects.

Willie, congrats on another grandchild arriving soon.

Posting time, my sleep patterns are so messed up. No sleep on any plane is normal for me but no sleep for me in 36 hours messes me up. It is getting better but I hit the pillow and after a few minutes I get almost like an anxiety attack but it’s not. I think maybe 5 hours total including naps for Dec. 6th.. This has happened three times before and all were after cancer surgeries. After the 2nd one, my doctor at the time figured I can’t handle any pain killer with oxycodin in it. No drugs in me the last week since being home.

TomO

Finished setting the empire up for the op session. I've been avoiding putting this pulp wood car in a train because it's so light. Trucks turn very easy and wheel spin with very little resistance. Just no place to hide weight on it. It's made of bass wood with wire detailing. The deck has a bulkhead half way down the car. Decided to gather some dead brances off the trees outside and cut them to fit. Seems to be working just fine. Gonna take a lot of twigs to finish this. Maybe I can get it into a train by Saturday.

Christmas, Christ mass was actually taken over from the pagans, they had a feast in the middle. Of winter, the reason was food, they had to store food through the winter, and not all could make It,so mid winter when life was harshest they would check them food and see what could last and what was spoiling and chomp the food that was not going to last, this also helped them get a calorie boost through the tough season,so they had a party to celebrate with the food, the church saw this as a good steal as people liked this pagan feast the mistletoe and holly derive from this time also, especially as they were few of the plants still in green at that time. Church traditional have yew and holly in the churchyards again as they took over the pagan sites which appear to have had the same advantages. I too love Xmas, and would happily learn more,
Churchs were built as a tower,to see if raiders were in coming and people had the bell to call them to prayers breakfast break the fast, and churches often had gargoyles that you could poor hot water out oil and set fire to against raiders the mouths often being spouts, you had to be careful not to burn the wood doors though.
Jaz, many "pagan" customs and traditions have been incorporated into Christianity. One in particular was the Roman celebration of Saturnalia, that influenced our Christmas as well as influence from pre-christian Nordic, Germanic and other customs.
Christmas celebrations in Medieval times rather closely resembled the Roman celebration of Saturnalia.

There is a lot of truth to the old saying "there is nothing new under the sun"

Had to be pretty oblivious to stand under a gargoyle when attacking a church. Really, attacking a church?
You had to break down the door and directly over the door were the "murder holes".

The Holy island of Lindisfarne, raided by Vikings in 793 is considered to be the dawn of the Viking age.

Churches were where the most wealth could be found in one place and were seen to be soft targets.
