Good evening.
The new company presented their pay structure for the sales department this morning. After much calculating and analyzing, it was determined the salespeople will be getting a 70% pay cut, along with the minimal salaries they had collected are being removed. Another salesman quit on the spot, we are now down to three total, and they are expected to double sales.
I have an appointment tomorrow morning at a local garage to see about relocating my career there.
I guess that's an alternate way of saying "We don't want you any more".

Good morning y'all. Currently 45 with a high of 51 today. Tomorrow's high is 47, with a 70 percent chance of rain.

Flo- Coffee and The Usual, please.

I am going to attempt to catch up.

Willie- Yes, lawyers and politicians definitely rate below pond scum. We get some Left Coast people, but not as many. Floridians are just weird. It's something about the combination of sun and salt in the air down there. It seems to fry people's brains and they just do generally dumb things. Nice work on the kit bash.

Sherrel- Very good point. And the only way to truly change the government involves bullets. See: George Washington for reference.

Jaz- Sounds like you might have been a handful back in the day. 🤣

Terry- I feel your pain. I love my manual transmissions, but I had to give them up as daily drivers years ago. For exactly the reason you mentioned.
Everyone else- My time was short this morning so I didn't get to read every post, but the pics are great. Keep up the good work and keep the pics coming.

Modeling Update:
Painted the exterior walls of the service station with Tamiya Acrylic Buff. I plan to go back and add some weathering eventually.

Hopefully, I will be able to glue the window frames in later and make a little progress toward assembly.

Breaking News:
PROOF HAS BEEN FOUND!

Y'all have a blessed day.

Well, howdy there, internet cafe coffee guzzlers.

It's troy again

Brought in my own jug of Xmas blend aged Sumatra roast from that Watery Tart's coffee shop. Mel's coffee seems good only when it's fresh brewed, and Flo isn't saying how long ago that was.

I had hoped to get to Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day by working on some planes for a wargame on the battle of Midway. I've got Wildcats and Zeros waiting in the wings. Unfortunately, my Romans are still on the paint table.

They are fleshing out though.

And, I got mail call yesterday.

A new book from Tony Koester and the folks at Kalmbach showed up.

I decided to get this one prior to doing the full redesign on my abbreviated layout. I'm playing with the idea of either a full sceniced deck under the current one, or at least a staging yard. Figured this would be a good investment BEFORE making those plans.

This is a revised version of an earlier book Tony wrote back in the naughties. I'm happy to let other people make the mistakes and learn from them, and Tony promises in the intro to discuss the wouldas and shouldas others have found along the way.

Good morning shop dwellers! A frigid 22 degrees this morning heading for 31 degrees with a slight chance of snow showers. Guess it's time to be spending my lunch break in the work break room again instead of driving to the park and eating in my truck. Just a little chilly to be sitting at the park. I'm going to miss it though. It's so nice getting out of the building and going somewhere quiet for my lunch break. Can't wait for warmer weather to return so I can start doing that again.

Troy: You can never go wrong with any book by Tony Koester. He's definitely one of my favorite model railroaders of all time. Great writer and modeler. I recently bought his latest book, but haven't had time to start reading it yet.

Nothing much to report here, so I'll just keep drinking my coffee before heading off to work. Hope you all have a great day!

Morning all,

Not much going this morning. Coffee is made and I've already had the first cup. Almost time for a second one.

You can tell the city I work for is really growing by the number of one-call tickets. For those not in the area, One-Call is the number you call before you dig on your property to have utilities marked. It's a good thing to do as if you hit an unmarked or mismarked line, it's on them, whereas if you don't call them and hit a utility line it's on you. When I first started 20 tickets a day was considered a busy day, now anything under 50 is a slow day.

Terry: Hope all goes well on your work situation. I had to give up manual transmissions for the same reason. Right knee so bad that I overused the left one. After the knee replacements on the right, I still have issues with the left, but not yet bad enough for major surgery. Besides, ibuprofen keeps it very manageable.

Karl: I have to take ibuprofen daily (2-4 pills every 8 hours) just to keep from getting stiff in the joints. It also depend what I either did the day before or am going to be doing later. Takes about 1-11/2 hours for them to kick in if I forget.

The pipe load is made of Plastruct 1/8" pipe. I have another load in progress made of 3/32" pipe as well.
I'll add a touch of rust to the loads for weathering.
Pearl Harbour Day.
My mother's first husband had already joined the Army when the Day of Infamy occurred. He went on to join the 29th Inf Reg and crossed over the beaches of Normandy almost a month after the initial assault. He was killed in action in Sept 44 on the last day of battle at Brest, France. He was buried in The Brittany American Cemetery, Saint-James, France. Never to see home again. My mother only received a Telegram and visit from the Army in 1944. In 2001 I was able to get a picture of his headstone. She cried.

Jaz, one of my favorite topics is Christmas! I would love to have a lengthy conversation about this with you. But my time is extremely short at the present.

For me Santa represents the spirit of Christmas in some ways. I believe Jesus is the reason for the season. But Santa can bring great joy, excitement and wonder to children and old people who are young at heart, like me 😁

When I was a young father I was determined to always be truthful with my children. I told them the true history of Santa, as I understood it. Basically I ruined it for them. I believe that was a mistake.

As a grandfather I tell my boys the history as well as the myth of Santa. I answer questions with questions and skirt the truth without telling out right lies. My boys are older now 12 & 13 and I'm certain they have heard the truth, but in my house the myth of Santa lives and we like it that way.

I would greatly enjoy going further, but I'll leave it at this for now.

If you are interested I would be very happy to continue this when I have more time. Santa is a very interesting aspect of Christmas.

Enjoy the Holidays!
Christmas, Christ mass was actually taken over from the pagans, they had a feast in the middle. Of winter, the reason was food, they had to store food through the winter, and not all could make It,so mid winter when life was harshest they would check them food and see what could last and what was spoiling and chomp the food that was not going to last, this also helped them get a calorie boost through the tough season,so they had a party to celebrate with the food, the church saw this as a good steal as people liked this pagan feast the mistletoe and holly derive from this time also, especially as they were few of the plants still in green at that time. Church traditional have yew and holly in the churchyards again as they took over the pagan sites which appear to have had the same advantages. I too love Xmas, and would happily learn more,
Churchs were built as a tower,to see if raiders were in coming and people had the bell to call them to prayers breakfast break the fast, and churches often had gargoyles that you could poor hot water out oil and set fire to against raiders the mouths often being spouts, you had to be careful not to burn the wood doors though.

Avoided sacking them cunning bxxxxxxds, although I wonder is a lawyer could call it forced sacking…because they dies not seem reasonable….I wonder if one would do a ‘class’ action for them,I would love to see the new owners topple,I wonder if they just want the land……because they seriously seem to not want the staff.

I am sure you know but you take ibuprofen with food otherwise it can lead to ulcers

Had to be pretty oblivious to stand under a gargoyle when attacking a church. Really, attacking a church?

Well, I certainly cannot forget December 7 th ... being sort of a War history buff, and the fact that it is the day that I proposed to my present Spousal Unit!
The first reference is a sad one for all those families who lost loved ones (KEN - thats sad about your Mom) -- the second reference still makes me smile - she said YES! (do I think the 2.5 ct solitaire had anything to do with it - maybe?)
