Good evening.
The new company presented their pay structure for the sales department this morning. After much calculating and analyzing, it was determined the salespeople will be getting a 70% pay cut, along with the minimal salaries they had collected are being removed. Another salesman quit on the spot, we are now down to three total, and they are expected to double sales.
I have an appointment tomorrow morning at a local garage to see about relocating my career there.

No way!!!!. Someone in a high office said everybody was earning higher wages now which in turn is being spent on goods which in turn is causing the supply chain problems.

This time, this is one of those “seemed like a good idea at the time” things. Most of y’all probably remember I sold my large pickup, and got a small SUV to replace it. The SUV still is great, runs good, gets good fuel mileage, rides reasonably well, and is roomy for its size. I have made the unpleasant discovery I have begun to develop a case of osteoarthritis in my left knee. This was painfully brought to my attention the last three days of the work week last week, when I was stuck in traffic for “a while” every night on the way home. We’d move ahead about fIve feet, stop, move 3 feet, stop, move 5 feet, stop, etc. By Friday night when I got home, my left knee felt like somebody was stabbing it with a red-hot ice pick.
It looks like I am going to have to sell the SUV with the manual transmission, and find something with an automatic.

Good evening Shop Dwellers, it's windy as hell in my region and we lost power briefly at one point; hopefully no more of that before I'm done typing this post.

BTW - thank you everybody for the friendly responses to my Sunday post.

Curt - your loco terminal looks fantastic, amazing to think that just a year or two ago your layout didn't exist. I've had mine since I rebuilt the layout in 2012, but it's been stagnating due to my being focused on other areas. Someday...[?]

Terry - I'll double-down on my prayers for you to escape that hellhole that you're in, and that your interview at the garage leads to an offer.

Karl - sorry your weekend Christmas plans turned out to be a bust! ☹️

I don't have time to post very much tonight, partly because I spent an hour on the phone pep-talking my daughter in New York who had an unusually rough day at her teaching job, then I spent another hour watching all the various Youtube videos at the links that you guys posted. At least I did squeeze-in a little bit of mrr time the afternoon: I unwrapped the package that contained that Walthers switcher that I received on Friday, I'm really pleased with it. I snapped a few photos which I posted in James' RPO thread.

Good Night - and have a Pleasant Tomorrow!

Good evening y'all, Official temperature at Swampside, along the Banks of the Mighty Manasquan River, is 50°...was 63° until about an hour ago. 0.27" of rain measured today. Today is St. Nicholas of Myra feast.

I am amazed at how many people post between my postings, each day.

OK, as I related previously, My health was fine, until around the Tuesday before Thanksgiving...then I started sliding down hill. Overnight, last nich was brutal...I was either cold enough to shiver, or felt like I was being barbecued, I was so hot. My body temperature which usually hangs between 97.4 to 97.7 came in at 98.8. Plus the coughing, gagging and wheezing, was relentless portions of the night, and quite docile at other times. I had a scheduled visit with my Primary Care doctor for this afternoon, and went into great detail. Needless to say, I'm now quarantined under Covid Protocol... :(. The quick test found me Negative, for Covid and Negative for the flue. Now I'm waiting on the results of the long test. Should be back by Wednesday. Meanwhile, I don't have to go to the heart doctor tomorrow. and I got the Prednisone and Anti-biotic to chase the Bronchitis and I got some of the prescription mess straightened out. Also the switchover to Rite Aid, seemed seamless. If the results come back Negative...I'm cool....if they are Positive, the immediate benefit is that it disqualifies me from Jury Duty, next week. Gotta keep a positive outlook, eh?

Tom O: that Goalie shot you posted was fantastic... Could we be looking at the next Martin Brodeur?

Hughie:
Christmas trees are supposed to be BIG and Bright!, Just like at Rockefeller Center,eh?

Jaz: Christmas 1977, the Tree inside the Trainshed of Windsor Station, in Montreal was gigantic, and beautifully decorated. Of course, that dates back to when Railroads wanted to show the Public they were caring Corporate Citizens. Now, Its Precision Scheduled Cost cutting...hardly in anyone's interest, except shareholders.

Curt: You Nailed it with your design. Nice! Of course, I'll wait, until after you're done to tell you the Flange Oiler is in the wrong place:oops::eek::p:p

Terry: When the NS announced they were interested in acquiring Conrail back in 1997 - something I had actually lobbied the Maryland Congressional Delegation to Oppose, back in 1985, when Lizzie Dole first wanted to give Conrail away, I went to Amtrak, actually an exercise of Seniority, to avoid the transaction. Took me almost six months of unpaid re-qualification, to reach my goal, but well worth it. Think you are making the right decision. Best of luck.

Speaking of Dole, we lost Senator Bob Dole , as was previously noted. We do miss folks like that today. RIP.

Another loss announce today, was the death of Richard B Hassleman, retired Senior Vice President Operations of Conrail. - RIP RBH.

DNR's are effective statements of a person's last wishes...assuming they are honored...the wife and I do not have them because of what we have seen done to our own loved ones by well meaning medical professionals who couldn't deal with a patient expiring on their shift...Not sure what my determination will be...in New Jersey, they have something called a POLST a physician's order issued in advance, which can actually supersede a DNR.

Advent is loaded with festive days for prominent Fathers of the Church. Tomorrow, 12/7, it is Saint Ambrose of Milan, a Bishop and Doctor.

Tomorrow is also the Remembrance of the Attack on Pearl Harbor, 80 Years Ago.

Afternoon All,

Spent another 4 hours in the train room today and finished off the section I have been working on (except details and people). I also took pictures of the entire engine area and where I decided to put in the 3-track siding (lucky I had the room available). Based on 8 photos I'll have 2 postings today. Tomorrow I'm running down to the LHS for flex track (I called to see if they have it) that will go into the siding track. I have a 1/2 box of cork already.

Guy- Nice job on the cafe.

Hughie- Very nice layout shot.

Tom- I have the opinion that if I don't have anything nice to say or add I will just scroll on by. People work too hard on their hobbies to be rude or mean to them.

TomO- That is a neat layout room. It puts mine to shame. Great shot of the grandson and beautiful job on the pulpwood cars. What kind of glue did you use?

Mikey- Nice scene.

Steve- Your post reminds me of Boardman, OH. My parents grew up there and the rest of the relatives live there. Growing up, there was a train shop called Amers Hobby that I would visit every time in town. Half of it was O scale and the other half was HO. Probably 5 years ago I stopped by there, and it was still the same name, but it was a strictly RC shop. What a shame.

Everything seems "washed out" except the last photo.

I hope everyone has a good night.
Curt, thanks for the compliment. The grandson had never played goalie and it was his turn to play it. They rotate as each player gets to play goalie. Brooks said today he enjoyed it but he prefers to play a wing. The picture is pretty cool, I was shocked at how lucky an action shot I got with the IPhone. His mom had him in the stables tonight practicing his shot. His play at 8 reminds me of our son, his uncle. Pit Bull type who won’t give up, but with better skills then his uncle. His overall skills though remind me of his mom who played 2 years of ice hockey on scholarship in college. She could skate, was tough and as nasty as the women’s game allowed her to play. Had a great shot. Brooks asked her to help him with his shot.

Great shot of the turntable and enginehouse.

I picked this little handy vacuum for the layout....compact and light weight. All for 25 bucks from wally world......Not bad and it even came with a mounting brackett to hang/store under the layout! A little bigger than a milk jug but super light!

I understand Santa Claus was a saint in the Germanic era and Santa used to wear green, until coke a cola put him in red and it stuck
Jaz, one of my favorite topics is Christmas! I would love to have a lengthy conversation about this with you. But my time is extremely short at the present.

For me Santa represents the spirit of Christmas in some ways. I believe Jesus is the reason for the season. But Santa can bring great joy, excitement and wonder to children and old people who are young at heart, like me 😁

When I was a young father I was determined to always be truthful with my children. I told them the true history of Santa, as I understood it. Basically I ruined it for them. I believe that was a mistake.

As a grandfather I tell my boys the history as well as the myth of Santa. I answer questions with questions and skirt the truth without telling out right lies. My boys are older now 12 & 13 and I'm certain they have heard the truth, but in my house the myth of Santa lives and we like it that way.

I would greatly enjoy going further, but I'll leave it at this for now.

If you are interested I would be very happy to continue this when I have more time. Santa is a very interesting aspect of Christmas.

Enjoy the Holidays!

Curt, I use Aleen’s Tacky Glue. I use it for lots of my building of structures when I build with foam board or foamcore. The reason i use the tacky glue versus Elmers Glue All that I use in scenery building is the quick tackiness that accepts the debris being put on the pulp wood car deck.

Boris, thanks for the comment on the goalie. I called him Mr. Goalie after the game yesterday. I thought his mom was going to smack me. No, I don’t think he’ll be a goalie. This kid is 8 going on 25, he said it was fun but I get too mad at myself poppa when I missed those goals.

Ok. I got my answer.
Ok, I get it but…you have to do what you want to do

I am not a believer in the older Bachman stuff as IMO it wasn't worth the price. With new wheels and of course new couplers it will make a good addition to your fleet. For my money I would be looking for the Accurail kits to build and use.

and if you are having fun, don’t worry about what I say
