Sorry, I don't have a song to post. Mainly because just about every one of them has been heard by us all in the past and hardly anybody actually clicks on them to listen to it.
The rest would be songs or melodies I kinda made up while working on something.

Part way through the op session setup. Got all the trains put together in the classification yard. Giving the switcher crew a break for a couple hours and time to refuel their old steamer.
The cabooses are on the rear end of the trains. The yellow tags on the roofs have the train number and direction of departure. Each train will be pulled outa the yard then shoved onto the A/D tracks to the left for pickup by the road switchers.
More trains will arrive in this yard from staging during the op session for classification into local trains. Freight traffic from the local industries end up back here and are classified into trains to the staging yard.

Op session Dec 21 Prep.jpg

Next step will be to check all the freight cars in the industries to make sure they all have Waybills prepared for their movement. The unit trains from the coal facility, power plants and oil facility will be easy to prep as their waybill only counts the total number of cars instead of car-by-car road numbers.
After that, I'll put a few trains together in the staging yard for movement to the classification yard and sorting for local trains.
I'll put together a couple of passenger trains for a run through as well. Gotta show off the E8 team and the new PA addition.
The whole op session usually runs about 5 hours.

Who was it that said: Once a populace decides that they can vote themselves a piece of the treasury - then the country is doomed.
Anyway, something like that.
Believe it was a RR quote: There is no such thing as a "temporary" government program!

Similar quotes have been attributed to

-- Alexis de Tocqueville -- “The American Republic will endure until the day Congress discovers that it can bribe the public with the public’s money.”

-- Alexander Fraser Tytler -- “A democracy cannot exist as a permanent form of government. It can only exist until the voters discover that they can vote themselves largesse from the public treasury.”

Though so-called fact-checkers cannot confirm these quotes from these men as they are not found in their published writings, so they may not have actually said them.

This site claims the earliest forms or similar forms of the quote are from the 1950s...

I have to be careful of doing that,I want to show people something and pop up a picture, but I try to avoid it and pop up a thread as reference, one o f the nice things in the coffee shop is we can post without ruining someone else’s thread
Jaz- You are 100 % correct.
I have been on this forum since 2005, but only started posting pictures in the last couple years.
I am only an adequate modeler, but I like to try different things and feel other people on the forum appreciate the efforts.
I don't think everything I model must be NMRA contest quality, but be fun to build and enjoy the results.
The pictures members post on the forum are instructive and inspirational to me. I find many of your pictures make me stop and think about the results you have achieved in a scene.
I think this is is one of the most popular attractions to the coffee shop.

Oops, my soapbox just collapsed due to too much weight!

I often wonder about the validity of the numbers thrown at us. Your example - 8 individual positives = 8 individuals infected, is a by product of Analytics Gone Wild. Testing results make for great headlines, but just how accurate are they? When we panicked and shut the country down, How many cancer patients regressed because the regional chemo centers shut down, and appointments at Sloan (for example), became scarce. Statistically, I guess, those who lost their battle with Cancer due to this, died as a result of Covid also, but their deaths could be attributed to their Cancer, and/or Bureaucratic pronouncement.

In New Jersey), most residents of Long Term Care facilities residents, have DNRs (Do not resuscitate orders), meaning if a person has a heart attack, stroke, Pulmonary failure issues, they would be allowed to expire without any intervention. This, more than anything, provides the answer for the very high level of deaths of residents due to Covid.

Assisted Living facilities, which house a similar demographic, had something like 90% fewer infections, or deaths due to infection, than the LTC facilities.

I really cannot come to any conclusion, but these statistics can boggle your mind. The information on LTC facilities is public record released by NJ Department of Health, by County, subdivided to town and facility, so it is surprising that the DNR factor was never brought up in the news.
Joe- many hospice patients have DNRs in place, as well. I know Dad did.

Good morning from Wisconsin where another night of sleep has occurre. Better then the no sleep at all in 36 hours this past week but I really would like a solid 7-8 hours.

Yesterday afternoon’s hockey game between the Ladies of Wisconsin Badgers and the foes from Minnesota called gophers. Minnesota has good teams in hockey always. The Badger Ladies the last 7 years the games have been close but no one dominated the game except this Friday night and the afternoon game yesterday. Of the 6 periods I would give domination to the Gophers in 4.5 of them. UW lost one and tied yesterday but lost in the meaningless shoot out.

Modeling. The train room reorganization effort continued yesterday. i posted the before picture the other day, here is the after

It looks the same because it is the same. I got in the train room a few times yesterday but the intended project was avoided. Maybe today.

Lots of frost outside this morning so I will not go on my walk until it warms. The high today should hit 38f degrees but I see the tree tops are moving around so it will feel cool.

Another hockey game today but this time not for highly payed because of their scholarship, “student athletes”. The 8 year old grand son plays at 2:30 and he is this weeks goalie. His dad says he started out hating it. He has been studying up on being a goalie and when he read about playing angles, cutting down the area and how in books, he got excited. He is one of those math geniuses and this goalie stuff is right up his alley. When I talked to him last night I always ask if he is having fun being the goalie. His immediate answer was yes and then got out his whiteboard so he could explain how to play the angles. My eyes rolled.

Be safe, have a great day
Tomo
Tom, I agree about regular season shootouts being pointless. Kind of like college FB playing 5, 6, 7 OT sessions. They should use the NFHS rule for regular season games, where if it’s still tied after 3 OT, it’s a tie.

Arth Kinda looks like a business park.
Willie, I just checked Google Earth and shots I just looked at are the prior to construction shots. Strange when I looked a few weeks ago the brand new High School was shown in all its glory. On the school district and tthe high school sites there are now no school building pictures. I will if the wind calms now over the next few days fly a drone over it.

Sorry, I should have looked before mentioning

Afternoon All,

Spent another 4 hours in the train room today and finished off the section I have been working on (except details and people). I also took pictures of the entire engine area and where I decided to put in the 3-track siding (lucky I had the room available). Based on 8 photos I'll have 2 postings today. Tomorrow I'm running down to the LHS for flex track (I called to see if they have it) that will go into the siding track. I have a 1/2 box of cork already.

Guy- Nice job on the cafe.

Hughie- Very nice layout shot.

Tom- I have the opinion that if I don't have anything nice to say or add I will just scroll on by. People work too hard on their hobbies to be rude or mean to them.

TomO- That is a neat layout room. It puts mine to shame. Great shot of the grandson and beautiful job on the pulpwood cars. What kind of glue did you use?

Mikey- Nice scene.

Steve- Your post reminds me of Boardman, OH. My parents grew up there and the rest of the relatives live there. Growing up, there was a train shop called Amers Hobby that I would visit every time in town. Half of it was O scale and the other half was HO. Probably 5 years ago I stopped by there, and it was still the same name, but it was a strictly RC shop. What a shame.

Everything seems "washed out" except the last photo.

I hope everyone has a good night.

Good afternoon gang!

This weekend just about took me out. #2 son was paying for movers to move his mother (x-wife) and his older brother to a new apartment, as their current duplex dwelling had been sold and the new owners want everyone out to return the house to a single family dwelling. Ex wife and moving co had a disagreement, and they quit. That meant Sons #1,2, and 4 , a buddy of son 2 and my wife and I all became movers. With my back issues I was only supposed to drive, but hard headed me was busy schlepping boxes around and packing trucks. After #3 got off of work, he joined the fray. Saturday night I felt a little stiffness. Sunday it was like rigor mortise. It hurt to walk or stand, I was ok as long as sitting. I'm mobile today, but stiff. Damn this getting old sucks!! Needless to say what was supposed to be a weekend on Christmas decorating and basement furniture relocating to make room for the layout was a bust!

Ken, that yard looks like a fun place to shuffle cars!

Willie, Nice job on the coffee shop!

Christian, Those Life-Like and Bachman cars , with knuckle couplers and metal wheel and some light weathering will pass the "3 foot rule" easily.

LHS We have a few.
Pro-Custom hobbies is closest, 5 minutes from work, Lots of detail parts, paints and chemicals, small amount of brass,
Mainline Hobbies in southern PA is less than an hour away, awesome selection, 100% trains, no model kits or rockets.
Tommy Gilbert's in Gettysburg is another. Great brass selection. 90% trains.
Out of the 3 Mainline has the most at the best prices.
M.B.Klein is not too far, but now they are all online, I tend not to throw and $$ that way. Besides, last time I was there things did not end well.

in the USA, a "Semi" is an articulated lorry.

So that may be misconstrued to include Lot Lizards.
In the UK a semi is a semi detached house, although I once had a lorry driver as a boyfriend….I am pretty sure in the day thanks to my years in art college and sharing the building with and being influenced by the fashion bunch although I was 3D and technical drawing that I could easily be mistaken for a lot lizard lol, luckily life had a better road for me
In the day 1980s I would think nothing of a pink leather jacket and trousers,4 in heels, skirts short enough to best not bend over at the waist, skin tight clothes usually black, I remember once having been horse riding earlier in the day I had my crop and riding boots and hat on the back seat, leather riding boots are not good for car driving,I was off to play badminton, and whites were de rigour but me I had pink trainers, pink socks, pink shorts, pink tight t shirt, and a badminton racket on front passenger seat, well coming back I was passing a load of traffic lights I ran an amber and noticed the car behind me follow through on red, I was so busy trying to see the car properly - this was like 11 o’clock at night - and a woman my age had been killed on this very road found bound and strangled, anyway I ran. A red and discovered the car in question was a cop car that then pulled in front and flagged me over,a young cop walked back and motioned for me to drop the window he dipped his head in pointed out I was just breaking the speed limit, jumped an amber and a red, and asked if the car was mine, well no I was driving my dads car,did I know the number plate, no, so he asks me for my driving licence, not carrying it, my dads address Which I provide as I live with them, asks if I ‘ride’ obviously having spotted the afore mentioned crop boots and hat, may have scoped the badminton (do people do stuff kinky with those cos they break easily) anyway I have this horrible suspicion he thinks Im a what did you call it lot lizard…so he tells me to wait and walks back to his car where his mate is waiting I can see their shoulders shifting obviously 😂 laughing, I am in so much sxxx so he walks back, says the address checks out, that I should drive ‘home’ and they will follow me home to check this out………and am I free Friday night..grin…..I never thought this out - boyfriend later said wrong answer said should have said yes and cancelled at last moment so the car speeding was well out of date- I said no I am seeing my boyfriend, cop double takes…..and walks back to car, he was good looking but so was my boyfriend of over a year…so they are following my home, when the siren goes off and I’m thinking oh sxxx he is pxxxxxx and gonna arrest me….they over take me neither looks my way….and the last I saw of them was the red light disappearing to sone urgent call…..l but I was sxxx scared to speed jump lights drink and drive (yeah people weren’t so uptight about that then) or anything else for at least a month…..so you. So you may tease…..but you can’t phase me lol, and fyi been married happily for 30 years to a totally great guy - just don’t tell I said so, his head will swell lol.
