Howdy ! Started out at 41* and is now 46*. Only 'posed to get to 59*. HOWEVER, tonight gonna get down to 'bout 33 and may not reach out of the 40's.
Yeah, I know, it would be warm compared to what most of y'all are existing with. IFF"N had won the P.B. , I'd a bought a hotel in the keys and invited y;all down.
CHET- Tried to send you an E.

Good morning, everyone.
Bob .... Sorry to hear about your MIL's problems. .... Your granddaughter's gift is very precious.
Chet ... I like the town scenes you posted. The freight station sounds like a good project.
Joe .... I like the B&O passenger cars.
Willie .... Sounds like you are getting a lot done with your railroad. The GP60's make an impressive locomotive consist.
Terry of NC ... ... That sounds like a very painful experience. I hope your hip heeled okay.
Chessie ..... Your track work is looking great.
Happy model railroading, everybody !

WOW, So I miss a couple days and all hell breaks loose.
BOB Really sorry to hear of MIL's accident. Really rough when a person is older for that to happen. My Mom broke her hip when she was in her 70's. Took quite a while, but she really got along fine .. she was very lucky. Wife's Mom broke her hip at 88. She can get around very slowly with the help of a walker but needs help when it comes to a step to negotiate.
Chet Your friend there with the truck and snowmobile accident .. Don't let him near an airplane or motorcycle! lol
PHIL, CURT You guys be careful down there. Just talked to a friend in the Ft Myers area yesterday. They had a tornado hit about a mile away. Looks as if it may have touched down on your layout there, Curt!
Lows in the mid 40's and Highs in the mid to high 60's for the next 10 days they say. A few cloudy days, but no significant rain expected. Finally finished packing up the Xmas stuff. Today I will try and get it all stored away on shelving in the garage. Been a glob of other stuff going on is the reason that it has taken so long this year.
Sherrel - I wish we had video of that sled rolling down the mountain. One guy did have a video camera with him, but all of us were at the bottom watching it saying Holy s**t.
I had left my cell phone in the truck because there is no cell service where we were so I had nothing to take video.
Chet, that sounds more like hill climbing like on motorcycles.
In the snow, I'd be worried about causing an avalanche.

Had to repopulate the yard today. At least a little bit.

Morning All,
Going to Wally World for groceries in a bit. I have already been to Harbor Freight for a 30W pencil tip soldering iron. My old radio shack one still works fine but has a blunt tip and for $4.25 with tax you can't go wrong.
Bob- Prayers for your MIL.
Chessie- The yard looks good.
Joe- Nice looking train.
Okay I need some of you electrical wizards try to explain what happened with the T/O and 2 tracks in the photo.
Yesterday during testing the T/O (Electrofrog) diverging route was not getting power. The track on the diverging route had power. (engine died on T/O. When T/O was selected to straight thru there were no issues. When T/O was removed and jumpered the divergent route still did not work.
Today after testing (jumpered) everything worked as it should without anything done to it. I did find the straight thru track was wired opposite from what it should be (oops!). After fixing that I reinstalled the T/O and now everything works properly like it did 2 days ago.
Questions I have:
1. Why did the straight thru track not short the layout?
2. Why did the opposite (divergent) side not work instead of the straight thru part of the T/O?
3. I don't know at this point if the T/O is OK to use or if there is some kind of intermittent short in it?
I really do not understand electricity. I know enough to do the basic stuff but don't really get why it does why it does.
I hope everyone has a good day.

I have seen just exactly what you describe. Did it do much damage to the snowmobile? Your friend is lucky to have been thrown clear. I rolled a mid size Kubota tractor about 100-150 feet down a hill out here. it threw me about 20 feet and as soon as I hit the ground I was clawing dirt because I was afraid it was following me down. Fortunately I got away with a couple broken ribs and a very sprained wrist. Very stupid of me to not just back down rather than trying to turn on the side of the hill.
My friend knew he screwed up and bailed out just as the sled began to roll. The sled is another story. It was pretty much toast. The hood and windshield were in numerous pieces and the front suspension was bent up pretty good. I guess it could be rebuilt, but it wont be cheap. Lost count on how many times it rolled.
Well, its a -1 degrees outside and cool inside the house even with the furnace working overtime. So much for 18 inches of insulation in the ceiling. Time to head back down to the train room where's a nice 70 degrees.
Had a Milwaukee Road loco that I purchased used with two others that had DCC decoders installed for a great price of $150 for all three 10 years ago. Just noticed last week that one of the locos had broken hand rails by the front steps of the loco. Super glue them back this morning and back to normal other than some white paint that had chipped off the hand rails. Going to use white typing correction fluid to try to touch up the hand rails.
Never used typing correction fluid for this use before and hopefully it works.
That's all for now.

Cold here tonight. Already down 30° with wind chill in the low 20 mark and heading to 17° overnight.
Doubt the cats will want to go out tomorrow morning when I leave.

Good evening. It's clear and 27.
The current forecast is for very heavy rain Friday, changing to heavy snow. Tentative numbers are over an inch of rain, and 2-4 inches of snow Friday, with an additional inch or more Saturday.
Looks like winter has finally descended on much of the country. We were pretty lucky until the last week or so. I think last night was our first below zero night of the winter. We've come close a couple of times but even then, last night was only -2°.
Waiting in the hospital for my MIL's surgery. Was going to be about 10 AM but got postponed til 4:30 PM today..........still waiting and can't get any word one way or another from anyone about what's going on. Frustrating, to say the least! My wife hasn't been home since last night. I had to go back around 10 AM to take care of our two dogs. Argh!!!
BOB That's really disgusting on changing the surgery time. I know that sometimes doctors do have emergency cases; maybe that was the reason, maybe not. I was very fortunate that the "team" was standing at the door awaiting my arrival. The best thing that has ever happened to me as far as medical treatment was when I switched to Kaiser. At least here in my neck of the woods .. they are a really first class operation.
The whole point of my post is that I wish I were close to you .. I would be glad to watch your dogs for you.
Bob... Tough time! Just want to let you know I will be keeping you and your family in my prayers at this time!
