Good evening ..

Terry .... That is an expensive locomotive fleet, but you should be able to find buyers for them. Overall, I am happy with selling stuff on eBay.
Ray .... Actually, all of the photos look good to me.

Regarding the conversation about lighting. Today, we just got a few LED bulbs to try out. The room we put them in now has a lot more light while using a lot less electricity. We'll probably do more.

I wish we modeled the same roads, I'd help you out there!
The rumor mill over on FB is abuzz with rumors of Atlas buying out BLI....At least that should help in the future.....my Atlas locos have always been damn near bulletproof!

Midland Atlas SD24s w/factory QSI sound pulling a 68 car train for 8 hours without a hiccup!

We can only hope this will get Atlas into the steam game!

Jump on that Baretta.......If you don't, I will!!

Son #4 moves out Saturday, now that he has full time employment in Northern Virginia. He and a college mate are splitting an apartment near his job, Rent is going to cost them $1,100 dollars a month.......EACH! Holy smokes! He'll be on the 17th floor, paying more in rent than my Mortgage! Well.. young, dumb and full of ,,,,ya know. He makes enough, as long as he has a roomie, and he is only 2 metro stops from work, so his car wont see much use. If he stayed here he would be looking at a 90-180 minute commute, each way .
We will be back to an empty nest.........SWMBO better be careful!

Karl, Atlas just bought BLMA. I don't know how quickly they would be looking for more things to buy.

Karl ... I like the green SD24's in your photo. I really like my Atlas SD24's (CB&Q red) .... Mine have Soundtraxx sound, and they sound real to me.

No problem with that here in GA. Person to person sales is completely legal here - neither of us are felons.
Guess I might should pull from my IRA and seal the deal just to be sure.

You all stay away from this buy. This is my score!
NG I figured you have strapped one on while in Korea.
Chet, I was wondering if you didn't have one strapped on with the FHP.

YOu guys have convinced me. I'm all in now. The engines can wait.
Deals like this a few and far between. I don't suppose I need to say that.
E.

I was a driver for a while and was proud as punch to actually be issued a .45, this was mid to late 80's and the 9's were just coming into rotation. (mostly officers and high ranking N.C.O.'s got em!) I got a pistol that was older than I was, the thing had probably been in the arms room since the 50's! The 'bluing' was about rubbed clean off! I could not hit a barn from the inside with it and considered that particular example of the .45 a 'hand-to-hand' weapon! I'da had much better success whopping the N.K.'s in the noggin with it if it ever came to that than throwing .45 caliber slugs randomly, all over the countryside! Too likely to hit a friendly and they DO 'pack a punch', (AMAZING!) oh yes!

I am a bit more of a 'rifleman' than a 'pistolero', the thing is...

"I never had much use for one".

I Had some fairly heavy rains the past two days. From Tues/Wed., I recorded 2.20"; then from Wed., evening till early this afternoon Thurs., I recorded another 1.76" or 3.97". Then I just came down from the roof from doing a bit more patching as on old leak reappeared, I had another brief squall that probably didn't amount to much? Ok, I just measured it by LED flashlite and it read .03. So the total is 3.00"

Say Ray: Your new lens looks nice and sharp, having a lens like that make it so much more convenient for doing Railroad shots as you exhibited. I've gotten fairly lazy by using my cell phone camera as it' so handy and allows for fairly extreme close-ups although not the fastest to get focused in to take the shot. Nor is the sense very large as far as enlargements.

Say Joe: I glad I, 'Fast-Tracks', was able to provide you with the diverging radius you needed. If you have any others let me know?

As far as DC vs. DCC, your thinking is about the same a mine or Chet's in that we are sole operators for the most part and running only one train at a time anyway as you well know, an Engineer can't be at two places at once so this is only way you or I can keep an eye on everything to try ensure there are no derailments and if there are we can get the train stopped in short order to prevent other damage.

Hope everyone has a good night.

Found .50 cents in the couch and threw it in the jar! That's quite a selection! Hope you still have one or two next month.

Nope, it's just 850 square ft of bare walls:confused: The $$$$$ comes from being so close to D.C.

Karl: That's like back in "79 the wife and I priced a modest 2 bedroom in a High rise near Maine Ave SW, (near the river). We were childless then and she worked for Amtrak at the terminal, while I was at Benning, off 33rd St. SE. She could have used the Metro, while I would have had a short commute with several optional routes. It was cheaper to buy a house in Bowie and join the happy commuters on Route 50. Things have not changed much, have they.

David: I agree that I can only run 'em one at a time.

Ok guys. I have discovered that 7614 didn't come with the brake wheel that goes on the nose. Question here is where the brake wheels on the nose of the SD40s the same size as your typical brake wheel on a standard freight car. I'm hoping the answer is yes to this cause well that's what I have to work with and it'll let me know if UP armor yellow is a good match for my paint on my bluebox.

Good morning gentlemen.....been a while since I posted photo...
Some covered wagons is leaving Dubuque Iowa with a north bound in '77....

One reason, to why I've got a few RS-3's and RSD-4/5's....

FB_IMG_1452249796217.jpg
Sunday, January 28, 1968: L&N Extra 188 North swings around the curve off the Clover Fork Branch at the junction point of Baxter, KY. That's the Poor Fork Branch on the left, coming in from Lynch, KY. This crew is a Dorchester Turn (from Loyall, KY to Dorchester Junction, VA and back). Their train of 60 empty coal hoppers was left a couple of miles back at the Harlan storage tracks, where morning mine runs will build their trains before shuttling off to work area mines. At the time, four RS-3s and a wooden cupola caboose wasn't that much of a big deal---but they would disappear soon enough. Loyall Yard is less than a mile ahead.

Good Morning All. Clear and 40 degrees here in North Central Texas this morning. Like yesterday, the high today is supposed to be in the upper 60's, then colder (upper 40's) for three days, then back to the 50's and 60's by Tuesday. Still pretty wet outside from Wednesday's rain. Speaking of rain, the official rainfall for our county in 2015 from the Weather Bureau was 87", far above our normal of 33". At my house I unofficially recorded only 85"; 35" of that fell in May. What a way to end a 2 1/2 year drought. Too late to save the 19 trees that died in the front yard. Oh well, several dozen seedlings have sprung up to replace them so I have to be careful mowing for a few years.
Out in the train shed yesterday, I painted brown on a 16' section of benchwork in preparation for moving forward. The track is already laid and is in the operational testing stage. Another week or so and I will paint and ballast it.
That's it for today.
Willie

I just received an update from Paypal about the probable scam transaction. SOMEthing has left the facility in San Francisco, and will be here Wednesday. if it's what I bought, I will be surprised, but you never know.

Good morning. 60* with light scattered showers all day. May get to 76*. Hope Curt has no problem getting to the "PROTO" meet.
Wonder what the long range weather predictions are for 'DAYTONA' opening?

Phil
