My wife and I have taken care of any problems like that. We each have living wills, and we each have each others power of attorney. We had all this drawn up by an attorney, when we had our wills done. Both of our kids were there when we picked them up from the attorney and had him explain to them what all of it meant.
They understand what our wishes are and have pledged to follow them.
Twenty years ago, (has it really been that long), when I was having an chronic infection that caused me to endure 14 surgeries, in less than 3 months, I was getting so depressed I gave my wife my medical power of attorney, so I wouldn't make a stupid decision like telling the surgeons to just remove my leg. Shortly after that we did the living wills, the wills, and the power of attorney for each other.
