Good morning. It's overcast and 25.
The BLI J that I have had so much trouble with has fried another decoder. Monday, I am going to call them, and ask how much they would charge me to replace all the electronics and the motor in it. I was going to offer it to anybody that wanted it for fifty bucks, but my wife pointed out a replacement will cost much more than that, and a complete rebuild should cost less than dumping this one, and buying another one. I don't really want the one I have, but sometimes, it makes more sense to repair something, if only so I will have a clear conscience when I do sell or trade it.

On another note, sort of, has anybody heard from Brennan (conrail97) recently? I got a PM from him saying he was sick, then nothing, and no response to messages. It's been over a week, so far.

Here's another '13' for you Louis....

Terry you have a brilliant wife, she should be a maintenance manager, you are a lucky man!

I too am a very lucky man to have a wonderful wife, but if I talk to my wife about trains all she says is "that is nice honey, you should buy it if you want it" As if I need encouragement to buy more trains?

I don't think I know Conrail97, but I hope he is ok.

Here is my 6303 which is a 2-10-2 instead of a 2-10-4.

The Burlington served several coal mines in Southern Illinois, and the 2-10-2's and 2-10-4's hauled coal northward to Galesbug, IL which was the Burlington's hub. The engines did have other assignments as well.

There were 10 CB&Q Class M3 2-10-2's (6300-6309) and 18 CB&Q Class M4 2-10-4's (6310-6327)

Garry you have a magnificent layout and thank you for the detailed information. To borrow MLB's slogan "I love this stuff" and baseball too!

Louis .... Thank you..... I recall growing up in Illinois very close to the CB&Q. When I was very young a big steam locomotive would shake the gorund. It was enough to make doors in our house vibrate on their hinges.

Garry the only steam locomotives I can remember see running are the American Freedom Train in September 1976 less then a mile from where I lived and the Chessie Steam Special and both were either running very slow or on display at Martin Marietta in eastern Baltimore county. If I am not mistaken it was the same locomotive both times but in different colors. At least it looked the same to me.

The most impressive locomotive I ever saw were the GG1s pulling passenger cars east of Baltimore at 80 miles per hour I believe. At least I think that was the speed limit in that area. We use to play ball in a field next to the tracks and you could feel them coming and going.
