Terry I am so sorry to hear about your nephew's fit of stupidity. He has alienated his family for a few dollars. I have to wonder if he is using drugs.

As a grandfather myself I feel terrible for your brother's grandchildren.

It's bad enough for your family and yourself to have to endure such a loss, but this is unthinkable.

I don't know what else to say... I am sorry seems to fall so far short.

Good morning 113, thanks for continuing the information and for the pictures.

The Penn Central had great promise, but in reality it was doomed to fail. It is very sad to think "what might have been"

Good morning Louis...you're most welcome!
True indeed, keep thinking myself, what if Penn Central had been a success, what would have happened to the other, who would have merged with who, would N&W have kept Dereco with EL and D&H etc., etc...
What would the railroad scene looked like today...?

Hi Terry,
I am truly sorry for your loss. I am not 100 percent sure you need a lawyer. An executor can not just willy nilly do what he wants with an estate. Most states have very specific procedures that must be followed. I would just take this to the state prosecutor as I am sure he is in violation of some laws regarding the proper disposition of an estate.

The will very specifically set forth distribution, and it was not to be distributed like that. There were two pages of directives, none of which were followed. The will stated that his savings were to pay for funeral and other final expenses, I was to get the remainder of the cash, the nephew was supposed to get his car, and his personal items were to be distributed between his grandchildren. I do have the will here. There isn't really enough of an estate to get lawyers involved, it would just be really nice if my brother's final wishes were carried out.

If the executor does not follow the will, they can be taken to court, and probably should be.

Good morning. It's sunny and 40. I hope everybody affected by Daylight Saving Time has remembered to spring forward.

There may not be enough of an estate to justify hiring a lawyer, but there certainly is enough bad will involved for me to see my lawyer and change my will. And my estate is substantially larger than my brother's. There is a lot more behind the scenes than I have relayed, and if I did all it would do would be to air our family's dirty laundry, and further lower most everyone's opinions of a certain family member. This is not the first incident involving my nephew. Now, I have to contact all my other family members, and let them know there will be no funeral or memorial service, at my nephew's directive.

Terry you don't need to say anything further. Unless you need a place to vent and then just express your frustrations, no details are necessary.

We are with you my friend.

Totally agree with Louis here Terry, I know that I'm the new kid on the block, or relatively new anyway...I'm sure that we're all here for you, in any way, shape or form...
Sometimes it does help to went, anger, frustration etc., etc., no details are needed whatsoever...

Late evening all,

I've often said the same thing Garry! If people would annalize the situation they would realize that if the clocks were only moved 30 minutes, ahead or back, the time would be right all year around. And due to the fact that the earths rotation is constantly changing so does the length of sun light during the day as the seasons evolve. There is a set number of hours in a day a change on one end which also results in a equal and opposite change on the other. If it stays light longer during the day it gets light later in the morning. It's the Yen & Yang of time, the earths rotation doesn't change just because some think they are going to control time. Time is what it is rather than what some are trying to make out to be.

David .... Changing all of our clocks twice a year ticks me off.

Terry ... Now I think I should not have said anything about wills and your nephew. Obviously, you have been dealing with the situation already. Sorry if I was too snoopy...... Reading posts here in the forum, I see your friends here care a lot about you.

Speaking of sad times, we went to funeral yesterday for a neghbor. He was my age. Makes me think.

On a brighter note. ... UK won again yesterday afternoon for a 31-0 record for the season. .... Ready for March Madness?

Penn Central could have been the greatest railroad ever, but for many reasons it fell far short.

Here is one of my favorite YouTube videos even though it is very sad to watch. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GHmyYqfNYnc

My railroad expertise is far to limited to be able to speculate how things would be different if the Penn Central had been a success.

Terry, so sorry your nephew's childish behavior had to add to the pain of your loss! Even though you don't have the body, or the few thousand dollars for an elaborate service, couldn't you and your relatives just get together somewhere to celebrate his memory? I don't see how your nephew could legally prevent that from happening - unless your brother's will specifically states that there must not be any type of memorial whatsoever.

Terry: No need to elaborate, unless you want to. it's bad enough to lose a sibling, worse, when you have to deal with family issues at the same time. Many of us have faced similar issues, so you are not unique.

Good morning, Happy Daylight Saving Time . It's 43°, yes 43° and sunny this morning, going to near 50°. A little more than 36 hours ago, the temperature was 6°. Things are looking up.
