Morning All,

Went out last night and bought the wood for the mirror job and I will get 2 coats of stain on it today, let it dry overnight and put it up tomorrow. Tomorrow also we are taking down our Christmas decorations. MOH believes it is bad luck to have them up over the New Year.

I have started reading the book "Set up Running" which is a son telling about his Dad working on the PRR (1907-1947) (I believe). It is an excellent account on what it was like to work on a RR in that time frame. Even if you don't like the Pennsy I would recommend it.

Bob- Congratulations on the new edition to your family.

Terry- I hope you get your truck out without further problems.

I hope everyone has a great day.

Good morning folks.

There is a bright yellow thing in the sky today. That's two days in a row! Not sure what it yet.

Congratulations Bob! That is great news!

Terry, I keep thinking your truck is going to freeze in the mud. I forget that we're not in the same area of the country!

I have my six year old nephew coming over to run trains today. He's the one that has been asking about the trains running for a year and a half! I finally had good news for him at Christmas. I did inform him that they run in a circle right now and that's about it. The scenery is trashed and it's only hooked up to dc for now. I rewired it for dcc but haven't installed that just yet. I have to install decoders in a few locos first and learn how to use the NCE system I purchased six months ago! I'm sure we'll have a good time.

I'm waiting to take down the Christmas decorations until New Years day. Part of me wants to do it today but I feel like I just put them up!

Time to go clean up the train room. Have a good day everyone.

Morning all. 23 drgrees and overcast. Haven't had any snow so far with a winter weather advisory in effect so far. Supposed to get near zero tonight and fifteen below for Monday night. Is it April yet.

Good luck on getting to truck moving Terry.

Finally to the point on the layout to get the street in on the layout. Time to get going on the prep work.

Thanks for all the congratulations, guys, I really appreciate them! We are all excited about the baby. We don't know whether it's a boy or girl yet..............I'm hoping for a boy...........I've got two fantastic granddaughters, need a boy to get interested in trains as the girls, sadly, are not. Should know next month but I know I don't have any say in the matter.:)

Good afternoon.
We were able to beat the weather home, in spite of my wife conveniently having forgotten we were supposed to leave very early this morning. I was able to get the truck out under its own power, though I now have some landscaping to do... Now that it's out, and sitting in the driveway waiting for rain to wash the worst of the mud off, I just know it won't rain for several days... But at least I didn't have to call a wrecker, those things get expensive fast.

Glad that you made it home Terry. Apparently you didn't blame your wife for the delay as you appear to still be alive and functioning.

Snow just started falling and is expected to continue for the next 2 days.

Now that work is going to begin on the main section of my town, I took a scrap piece of styrene sheet and made a test piece of road. I think I will stay with this version of concrete road.

It looks like it will probably end up being a large jig saw puzzle.

Yes, I made sure I made only the briefest mention of the fact we had talked about leaving early...
And it still hasn't rained here. Probably waiting for the drive in to work tomorrow. I'm off to bed. I had to sleep on the florr at my sister-in-law's the last two nights. I have learned hardwood floors have gotten harder as I have gotten older...
I did manage to make it to Factory Direct Trains on Friday, and scored a couple of store demonstrators. More when I'm less tired and sore...

Good evening. On-and-off drizzling with temp in the mid-40's here in central MD.

Monty, with all that snow it looks like you'll have no choice but to stay inside with your trains over the next few days! Concrete road is looking good BTW

B-Bob, congrats to you and your son on Grandchild #3!

Terry, glad you were able to extract your truck from the mud pit with incurring any towing fees.

Speaking of which...I have spent much of the past 48 hours shopping for a truck of my own, to replace our Dodge Durango which died of natural causes ~6 months ago. Been putting it off for as long as I could, but with my 19yr-old daughter in Nursing School and doing [off campus] "clinicals", she'll be needing my Toyota Solara for transportation. So I'm dipping into the savings and trying to find a used 4x4 Chevy Silverado 1500 that doesn't have a huge number of miles on it. I have just barely enough cash to buy one without having to borrow any money, but I need to find a low-mileage one before my daughter has to leave on January 8.

Needless to say, with all of this truck shopping [and taking the family out to see The Battle of the Five Armies, which was totally awesome!] my layout work has once again been put on hold.

Heading back to the office tomorrow to get caught-up on some stuff without the usual interruptions, then visiting a few dealerships in hopes of finding a truck that fits my needs.

Later...

Good Morning Everyone!

41 with clearing skies in southeast Baltimore.

I have no immediate plans to take down our Christmas decorations. For me Christmas begins with the first Sunday of Advent and it does not end until after the Feast of the Epiphany, 12 days after Christmas, January 6th. Needless to say I have artificial Christmas trees.

I use to leave up our decorations until after the Super Bowl, but I have not done that for a very long time because the Super Bowl has been played in late January and more recently February!

It's always sad for me when it's time to take down our Christmas decorations. For me it really is the most wonderful time of the year.

Enjoy the holidays and have a great day everybody!

Good morning. 7 degrees and wind. Snow drifting but fortunately, not a lot as the winter weather advisory was wrong on the amount of snow that we fot, just a couple of inches. We are probably close to our high temp for the day as we are forcast to be about 10 below tomorrow morning. Is it April yet ???

We don't have to worry about any Christmas decorations. Our kids are grown and have moved out so we don't bother putting up a Christmas tree. No mess to clean up.

Good morning Bill. I'll bet your plans call for staying warm and hydrated.
I do like what you have done with remembering Jeffrey but I guess it saddens me a bit that Ed Murphy wasn't .
Just my thoughts.
Yes, Jeff and I had a good relationship.Number of trades and I made his day when I sent him a schedule for the KCS. Said the only one he had seen was in the museum.
Wish all a good day.

I am heading down to the B&O museum with my Wife, youngest daughter and my youngest grandson and I will take my camera! I am really looking forward to this! Hopefully I will have a few pictures to post!

Good morning folks.

We had our high of 13 for today at midnight. Good thing I cleaned my driveway off before it froze until spring!

Louis, have fun at the museum!

Running trains with my nephew was a success. If for no other reason, I tidied up the train room before he arrived. I had multiple crumbling cardboard boxes full of old two and three rail track from the childhood train sets given to me from various people in my life. Family and friends have dug their old Lionel, Marx and American flyer trains out of their basements to be sent "to a better home". The trains are on display in the tv/gameroom. Everything but the trains themselves was all organized and placed in clear plastic tubs for storage in the closet. I also let my nephew install a few telegraph poles which seemed to be fun for him. I'll have to have him back again to make me keep the train room clean!

That's all I have for today.
Have a good day everyone.

Good morning all!
-5f. But the sun is peeking out.
Christmas was a success. Grandkids made me run trains with them for more than 3 hours! MADE me, I say! It was horrible! The little imps! HA!
Kinda cold today and going to get worse, so no working outside today. Guess I'll head downstairs.

Terry, That is just a really nice photo. Hope you have some more to share!

You guys are scaring me with the temps you are posting. I can remember those days .. Hopefully never to return, LOL.
Rolled out the trash barrels this morning, stopped long enough to read that it said 34 degrees .. Will reach into the 60's later on today with clear skies.

Chet .. Your modeling talent always amasing to me.
Louis .. Hope you get some good shots today.

I always enjoy reading the Coffee Shop!

Quickly checking in from SE Wis....

Quiet day working at home... I like to use this week to help me get a bead on the coming year for my work...

It's gotten colder here again, but nothing on the ground... Nice for driving and for not shoveling, but not much to look at...

Soldered feeders to a couple of turnouts yesterday -- the second job was better than the first one. Hope to get in some more train time this evening.

Good luck on finding decent transportation, Terry (Gomez Addams); and awesome picture, Terry in NW Wis. (whereabouts, may I ask?)...

Louis, have a great time at the museum -- when I'm back east visiting family, I need to make a point of checking that out -- I never have been, yet it's not far from where my mother and sisters live...

Have a great day, everyone.

Hi, Erik!
I'm a little more than an hour or so south of Superior. Or 15 minutes north of Rice Lake if you know where that is. Or 15 minutes south of Spooner. LOL!
Thanks, Sherrel! And I have tons!
It warmed up to 2 above while I was downstairs! Woohoo! Lots of sun, but windchill is -12f.
That's it for now!
