Short week this week, with only two shifts, still.....gonna be busy as f...!
Have a nice day everyone!

Tehachapi Loop.
According to a Don Gibson on here http://cs.trains.com/mrr/f/88/t/65426.aspx it scales out in HO to 14' diameter, so I guess you could fit it into a large bedroom, but you might not get the approach tracks in there as well. Certainly a modelling prospect for long train lovers. Don't think it's been bypassed or fallen into dis-use yet.

Cheers lads!

Like the NP/MILW meet photos. Their tracks parallel each other for quite a distance in western Montana. Driving on interstate 90, you can still very easily make out the old Milwaukee right of way right along side the BNSF tracks. The tunnels are still very visible and many of the old MILW bridges are still in standing.

34 degrees and overcast. The winter weather never arrived that they were predicting.

WOW!! Watched the whole trip. Is the layout in a Hanger? Y'all might be "Down Under" but the pike is "Up and Over' any thing here. Love it

We will be very busy for the next few days, and I don't know if I will have much computer time. We'll be in Birmingham next 3 days. Then we will be here briefly before going to Cincinnati for 3 days.

So, now I will say ....

MERRY CHRISTMAS !

HAPPY MODEL RAILROADING

34 degrees this morning and going back and forth from rain to snow. Sounds like sloppy weather for the next week.

I have Wednesday until Tuesday off so should get a lot done on the railroad!!!! Lucky no travel plans for us.

Merry Christmas!! lasm

Forgot to give Toot a thumbs up on his video. I think that train is longer then my entire layout using the hidden staging tracks.

20 some years ago I used to go up to Great Falls, MT and help the model railroad club up there during their open house during state fair. They have a pretty good thing going on up there. Their layout is in the public school building on the fairgrounds and their rent for the year is to have an open house during fair. Before opening the doors, I had my brass Z-5 Yellowstone (2-8-8-4) on the tracks and had about 120 some cars behind it and it didn't miss a beat. We would have liked to put more cars on it, but ran out of freight cars because all of the members hadn't arrived yet. It is impressive to see such a long train running.

It's time to call it a day at work. A lot of good posts today. Here's my parting picture. That first step is a doozie.

Good morning/afternoon everyone,
Hi Flo and Francine, How are things down here at the dinner? I have some Herbal Tea and I think a couple of eggs and Sausage and some hash brown potatoes.

Lets see what WW says:
It's fairly cloudy, 55.6 °F - Feels Like 55.6 °F,
Humidity is 81% now and will be at 100% by 6:00Pm. It doesn't say rain but just extremely moist.
Winds are from SSW at 3.7 but things seem fairly still here.

Say MR113
Those are interesting shots, the first shot seems to be quite out of the ordinary, at least to me to see such a large engine only hauling a single old wood sheathed box car and a caboose but still very interesting! I seriously doubt they are using it for switching!

Also I see that the rail height/weight the NP Z-3 was on is quite a bit lighter than the rail the E-12 Box cab loco is on and I know the Z-3 must be at least twice the weight.

Evening All,

Sliced the pork loin today that we turn into Schnitzel for the New Years family get together. Went out and got a pet fence for the bird room. It is to keep the skunks out of the room (7 ft opening). The skunks get fed bird food by the birds which causes them weight gain.

Montana- Great modeling.

Serial Kidder- Great video.

Garry- Hope your family has a Merry Christmas.

I hope everyone has a good night.

I wonder what happened to cause it to derail? Must be one heck of a job get it back on the rails and repaired!

This appears to be a very sudden thing to happen as it appears the Right Bent collapsed, talk about an abrupt stop. What a job that must be to separate the the tender and Loco while a crane hoist holds the engine suspended so it can be pulled back enough to get it on the rails again. It must be something to watch the Carknockers at work getting things back in shape.

Yep, David, they definitely bent the bent!:) Notice the people UNDER the loco...........they act like they don't have the least bit of concern. Back then, when it came to safety...........well, to say there was none would be an understatement.
