I'm a problem child

My late sister told me "every time I hear that song I think of you, so I bought the CD" She had the highest integrity of anyone I ever knew. Thank you God for my sister 50 years was not enough, but more then I could ask for.

I can relate. I lost Mom 2 years and 2 days ago (13 Jan. 2013). A little inheritance I'm getting is what is funding me on my current railroading efforts. It kills me that I can't call her and tell her what fun I'm having. I can only pray she's watching from high above with a smile. Actually, I know she is.
As to music, Mom knew it and listened to everything. She was more hip to current music than I ever was. Many times she would send me a new CD of Eric Clapton, Allman Bros, Lynard Skynard, Rolling Stones type of stuff before I even knew they released something new. When she sent the Rolling Stones "Steel Wheels" CD she had already been to the concert when they were doing the world tour back then.

Wait until more and more cars are on the road with the touch screen feature that is now on just about all new cars. I have a number of friends who have vehicles equipped with these and they do admit that they are a distraction and a few also admitted that they had a few close calls because they were trying to navigate through the screen instead of watching the road.

With many of these features being shoved down that buyers throat without even giving them a choice

Vent over.

Right on. More stuff to go wrong, too, and of course the next guy is going to pay you a ton less because all the gadgets don't work.

Good morning all the same. We don't have any of that stuff, heck, my wife just learned how to text a couple months ago so you can see how far behind we are.

We have 28 above zero which feels like 60 when you are used to -10. I was feeling a little woozy on Monday so took Tuesday off sick and have gradually been getting worse each day. Luckily I have a ton of sick days. A bug has been going around the office and I guess it was my turn. I hope I get better so I can enjoy my holiday Monday.

I'll.....the famous limb here, the 2004?

Gee - how did you know! By the way, the 2004 is a damn Cadillac with all those wonderful (in the main) unwanted added crap with it. All I want in a car is a darn good, strong reliable motor, gear box, drive train and diff - you know the stuff that is actually important and needed. Wonder if there any T Models still around? :)

lasm, your so right - just way too many un needed and all too distracting gadgets that will, inevitably, go wrong. The extent of my high tech toys, other than a computer, is a cell phone and I only have that for when I go out on the bike.

I used to ride a T-REX when I listened to Swing and Jazz. BASIE-ELLINGTON-SHAW-KRUPA-RICH-GOODMAN.

BigE!!! Great to see you in the coffee shop and what a very cool Mom! I agree, my faith also tells me they are watching over us.

Looks like a banner day here in the coffee shop! Jeffery would be proud.

The joint is jumping and God help you guys if get to the juke box!

Thanks Brother Louis!
Yeah, Mom was cool when it came to music. She knew everything about it but she never played any instruments. She's the one who turned me on to "Hooty and The Blowfish"/Darius Rucker. Last time I was on stage, I sang some of his stuff.
She was also one of the smartest people I've ever known. She's the only person I've known to actually be able to finish a NY Times Sunday cross-word puzzle - without help. If it weren't for her, my step-dad would have never gotten his 2 (yes TWO) PhDs. He did get his MD on his own however.
She told me once her IQ was 152 and said I blow her away... yeah, I don't think so. But you would never know it to talk to her.

Do they have a bar with a "real" drink in here? :-)
I have a racing heart problem these days so I tend to stay away from the coffee type drinks.

Who is/was "Running Bear"?
I ask because my given Cherokee name is "Little Bear". Funny story how I got that moniker.

BigE you come from good stock,

Jeffery aka Running bear aka Dr. Frankendiesel preferred lemonade with a shot of tabasco they might have that. He was a long time forum member and a man of many talents, veteran, fire fighter and too many other talents to list. He just passed away in December and is very much so missed. I am very proud to have called him my friend.

I could not get the link to work, it takes me to YouTube but no video, a little help please.

BIG E: Jeffrey Wimberly was the type of individual that many of us would aspire to be, but we can not duplicate his love of life, hardships, and determination.

If you sort of start with the thread and keep working your way to the present .. You will soon know what kind of person he was.

I read through all that. Sounds like he was having a rough time of things in that thread.
What was he suffering from? (if I may ask)
