Talk about a bad day at flat rock. Got in from Eric's, and perused the forums some. Decided to watch the news & weather in my recliner, and next thing I know its 0600! So I move to my bed, and stayed in there until about 1600, when wife woke me up and wanted me to cook some burgers and dogs on the BBQ. I wanted to smoke them a while, but everyone else was hollering how hungry they were, so I built a hot fire, and just grilled them.
The burgers were a mixture of fresh bacon bits, shredded cheese and some ground sirloin. The dogs were pure beef. I let them cook on each side for about 10 minutes each. Boy they were so good! Watching TV again, until about 10 minutes ago, when I woke up. Looks like I'm gonna be awake now all night. Bah! Humbug!
My daughter starts her new job tomorrow, in another Hilton hotel, where she'll be the Assistant General Manager! Her old boss said he didn't want her to leave and hoped she'd stay in touch. At this rate, that girl will have a Hilton of her own, in a couple of years. I sure hope so, things have been rough on her the past several years.
I wanted to get with William, (L&N Castle) today to work on ideas on a new layout. Since he lost the area for his last one, we gotta come up with something quick, before he looses this area. I see a simple twice around single track, with a small yard, and maybe a short branch for additional switching. Of course there will be a small yard area, some industrial switching available on mainline and the possible branch.
There's a train show in Gadsden, about 50 miles NE of here next week. I was supposed to have a table there trying to sell some of my extra stuff, but unfortunately, I haven't had time to get everything ready, so I'll have to wait until the next show, somewhere close to sell this stuff. Figuring out what to take will not be that hard, but what is hard, is trying to carry the "right stuff". This is the stuff that will sell fairly quickly and at a good price, so that you get enough money to cover the expenses, hotel, meals, gas, table, and still make enough to have a profit. I've was pretty lucky with the past stuff I had to sell, in that it was in demand, priced right and the people wanted it. The worse day I had, I sold $500.00 worth of stuff and had no Hotel, meal or gas expenses. I'll probably go to the show looking for specialized items, that I don't expect to find, but I may get lucky and find some anyway.
