Went to another buy & sell today and sold 2 locos. The first one I would class as a forced sale. Guy who had come looking early on and gave me a flyer from a new hobby shop he was connected with, came back, picked up one of the Kato SD40's on display that I had opened and sat the loco in it's foam cradle into it's cover. What does he do? Picks it up and turns the box upside down. A sickening "THUD" as it hit's the floor. So, I said, after a second's reaction, "Well you've bought that one, $90 thankyou!" and I meant it. He paid up.

Toot .... That was a floor model. :)

Eric ... Your fueling station is impressive.

Flip .... Yes, Curt is a good person. Glad I met him while in FLorida, but disappointed you were sick and you and i could not meet.

Man, that's cold! But mighty funny!!

Western KY huh? You're just across the river from where I was born in S. IL.
E.

Eric ... I grew up in northern IL near Chicago. That is why I like the old Burlington Railroad. ...... Southern IL ? .. There is a good model train store in Marion, IL.

Marion has a good train store? I thought it was only famous for that gimungus Federal super-max prison that you pass going by on I-57. I went to college at EIU in Charleston. Born down in Flora in Clay county. All my kin are from those parts.

The Marion LHS is called Chuck's Depot.

Now there is a train store in Paducah, KY

Good Morning; 59° and pleasant this morning. I hope everyone enjoys their weekend.

Bill and Louis are still MIA.

I need to venture forth, and get some paint mixed for the basement. Just don't want to deal with the Saturday crowd at Lowes or HD.

Good morning. 55*F with a stiff NW breeze here in central MD.

Flip - that's good news indeed. Hopefully from now on, the only C cells you have will be in your flashlight.

Eric - your fuel dock looks pretty dang good. Heck, you might end up not even needing the cork sheet that's headed down your way. Say hello to Carey for me when he gets to your place.

Mil - is THIS The kind of dirty widow your talking about?

Will do Ken. I'm surprised he hasn't called yet.
I'm still up in the air how to finish it off. I'll ask Carey what he thinks when he puts eyeballs on it. Seems to me the platforms should be up at least track level because in the "real world" those guys handling the hoses would have to lift those nozzles up to the tanks. I would imagine those hoses would be like fire hoses in real life.
There is plenty of room between the platforms and the track so I'm thinking to put the cork under them and put the walkways in.
What color would I paint the walkways? Certainly they wouldn't be that molded dark green.
Here is an overhead shot:

CJ just called at 1110 hours so he and Jimmy will be here around 1330 or so.
I'll start on the coffee around 1315.
I'll have had several beers by then but that's fine. I hold them just fine.

Good afternoon everyone!

59 with clear skies in beautiful southeast Baltimore.

I just got back from little league baseball practice and we had a fantastic time! I am blessed to have a very enthusiastic team of 4, 5 & 6 year olds. I believe this will be a very fun season! In more then a dozen years of coaching I have yet to have a season that was not fun.

I have missed everyone while I was AWOL. My kids went to Florida over the Easter break and I took full advantage. With no one here to wake up I got an early start on some projects I have been putting off. I do my best work before the sun comes up. I worked myself into a sweat, took a shower then took a nap, wake up and repeat until my wife got home. Than we had dinner, watched a movie together and went to bed. By Thursday it was clear I had over done it. I relaxed on the couch all day Friday and thank God I felt back to my usual "half fast" self. Actually more like a quarter, but half sounds better.

Sadly I have no news to report about my trains, but the good news is I have yet to spend my April train budget.

I hope everyone is doing good, enjoy the weekend everybody!

Afternoon All,

Back from the train show. I found nothing that I was looking for. The vendor that has the items that I wanted was not there this time. So after getting home I got on the MTS website and ordered the bridge and bridge track that I want. I talked to a club member at the show and he has code 83 flex track that I can buy from him so I need to go to the club tonight. Those are the 3 things that I need to continue my project.

Met Phil at the show and it is always nice to see him. Tomorrow is painting at our daughters house.

I hope everyone has a good day.

Clubs... yeah, I need to find one nearby that'll have me and my toys.
I'm sure there must at something around here but internet searches turn up nothing.
Perhaps they need someone who can give them an internet presence.
As a 30+ year software engineer I'm certainly capable of doing that in my sleep just about.

Met Curt at train show. Sold cars not using and found an FEC reefer I didn't have. Still looking for a GP in D&RG paint. Any paint scheme. Want it to pull "Cookie Box" cars. DC and NO sound.

TOOT- Do the names Ray Hanna and Flying Officer Cobber Kain,DFC , mean anything to you?

Flip
p.s. Louis glad you're o.k.

I've been in town trying to get the best deal on our upcoming remodeling project. Two bathrooms, new kitchen appliances and counter tops and flooring.

A few weeks ago my son give me a little Bachmann 2-6-0 that is DCC equipped and has sound. He doesn't know much at all about trains, but did know that I was looking for smaller locomotives.

I shot a video of a passenger car run last week and finally got it downloaded to youtube. I run DC nly and the loco is sound equipped. I have no control at all of the sounds, they are all automatic. Here goes.

I wish I could turn the sound down a bit or even turn it off. Not having any DCC equipment, guess I'm stuck with it. Please excuse the jerky video. I founf it a bit difficult operating the camera and the throttle and trying to watch the train and the camera. Guess it's like walking and chewing gum at the same time.

Good afternoon. It's sunny and 74.
There was a train show today, and I was asked to attend to see if I could spot some missing trains. While I didn't see anything I could point to and say with certainty they were the missing ones, I did find a couple of deals. One was a BLI F7B in, coincidentally, SP Black Widow. It was NIB, with DCC and sound. $40, because the matching A unit was MIA. It has the sucky QSI sound in it, but for the price, I'm not going to complain. Second bargain was an Atlas Gold MP15DC, in SOU, for a hundred bucks. Again, with the Suckmaster 2000 sound in it, but it was cheap enough I can rip it out and replace it, if it bothers me enough.

Welcome back Louis. Thought something might have happened to you.

Thank you Montanan, I am like a cheap watch, albeit a bit slow and often intermittent running, I do keep ticking

Great video and great working on the lettering! I think the sounds are great.

Your have a first rate son, the apple did not fall far from the tree.

Another awesome visit from Carey!!!
They just left a while ago.
Awesome! He put a decoder in one of my older DC engines. Looked pretty darned easy to me.
I got a little nervous when he just started snipping wires off. I have to admit.
I watched over his shoulder pretty much the whole time and I didn't see anything too scary about it.
Of course the decoder he had, he knew exactly what every wire was for and any unnecessary ones were quickly snipped off.

While trying to get the old thing to run properly we both figured it had dirty wheels (I was sure of that).
He showed me a super cool trick how to take care of that.

After showing me his DigiTrax unit to talk to a program track hooked to the computer via USB and through JMRI, I just might have to get me one of those.

After all that "what else can I help you with today while I'm here?". So I asked about the fueling facility and whether or not to put roadbed under it to bring it up to track level. He completely agreed with my premise that the fuel guys would have to heft those heavy hoses up to tank level if the platform was not already at track level. So cork under fueling facility it will be.

As to the friend anyone may have been thinking of - he was Jimmy, not William/Billy. Apparently the latter is a non-stop talker that most can't tolerate for very long. Jimmy was fine and immediately wanted to buy what little I have of my old N-scale stuff.

As they were pulling out he says "come on to Birmingham with us". I thought for a minute..."well I have nothing else to do really, are you serious?". I would have gone packed a bag and been gone. I've done stranger things just on a lark like that.

All in all, another awesome visit. Now I know how to install (and do some minor troubleshooting) a decoder. Now I have 5 DCC engines.
I should have pulled out my Chessie System engine. A GE B23-7 road number 4127 as the candidate.
He seems pretty certain the engine he did this install on is an Alco C-430. I don't know. Who am I to argue? He's also pretty sure it's an AHM because of its speed. The slowest we could get it to actually move from a dead stop was step 3. Step 2, the motor wanted to go but wouldn't. At first it wouldn't budge until step 6 but we fixed that with some lubes here and there and little CV kick start.

Now it's time for nap. The brain is swimming.
E.
