Good Morning All. 77° and mostly cloudy this morning. Some rain about 25 miles east of here, not headed this way right now. It officially hit 101° yesterday, first time this year for triple digits, but we're only expecting 96° today, then for some odd reason, it's not supposed to be above 90° until Friday. I'll take this global warming any summer!
In the train shed yesterday, I did a little more ground cover and then prepared about 12' of mainline for painting/weathering. There's a couple of turnouts involved as well. After that I'll ballast it. I've been running trains on it for seven months without incident, so it's time to move forward. The sidings connected to the turnouts seem bullet-proof as well, but I will have to move some temporarily placed industries and stuff before spray-painting; that will be next.
Chet - Thankfully (at least to me) the Californians are moving up to your area instead of here. We tend to get Midwesterner's who quickly return after a summer here. The same for New Englanders who especially don't like the politics in TX. They're all bewildered because none of them speak Spanish and cannot communicate with many of our locals (who actually speak pretty good English, they just don't unless necessary). Heck, even old white guys like me speak Spanish just to confuse the transplants sometimes. On another note, I also mostly prefer our paved rural roads here.
Garry - Wow! That's a real drag about the truck. Really good that you have enough sense to have brought it under control and came out safely. The bridge scene is continuing to progress nicely.
Eric - That is great news regarding trains finally running again.
Curt - Pool chlorine! I know the feeling...gotta add some today myself. Sorry to hear about your friend's wife. I forgot to post my opinion regarding your roof coloring question, I liked the first one better; I think that it was on the right.
Ken (D&J) - Sounds like you are really enjoying the trip so far. Nice trike that your friend has.
Terry - Hope that you are feeling better from the migraine. I missed your sharp wit and subtle sense of humor yesterday.
Sherrel - Other than the occasional fatigue, how is everything else regarding the surgery? Or is it too soon to tell? I have detected more positive "vibes" in your recent posts.
Everybody have a great day.
Willie
