Ubaldo pitched well, unfortunately Cobb pitched better and our bullpen let the game slip out of hand.

Miley is really frustrating for me. Strike one, strike two, ball one, ball two, ball three, next pitch TROUBLE! Time and time again. I bet if he threw a ball straight down the middle on 0-2 they would not swing out of shock. He is averaging 20 pitches per inning! I miss Dave McNally.

 Ubaldo probably pitched his best game of the season, but gave up the Game winning homer. I have a theory, that the "team" automatically concedes games when he is pitching, and leave their bats at home.

Miley, is actually worse than Ubaldo in many respects. I still think the O's need to clean house with their coaching staff, and hire people who can actually teach baseball basics.

Good morning ....

Louis ... Thanks for you comments. When I learned to drive many moons ago, I was taught to keep the foot off of the brake and ride it out. I did that. Therefore, I was able to regain control and coast to a stop on the shoulder. I was going to get new tires this fall to be ready for winter, but I will get some now. ... As for trespassing on tracks, even if it is a pretty girl, it is dangerous and illegal. ... Regarding medical, I am thankful to the medical professionals who have saved my life.

Good Morning Folks. 79° and clear today. Weather Bureau is forecasting that elusive 100° for a high today. Historically we have hit that mark 10-12 days by now (usually 30 times in a whole summer), but not this year. Only once last year! Global warming must have gone somewhere else! Spent part of the day yesterday mowing the west and northwest parts of the yard, should have cut and baled it instead of mowing as some was over a foot tall. It all borders my hayfield anyway, which is now about 3.5' tall...I'll get an excellent second cutting this year.
Out in the train shed, I am continuing to do some ground cover and scenery completion. This includes adding details to some "quick-build" structures that were temporarily set into position originally. While I do detail all sides of my structures, I add a bit extra to the aisle facing sides. I have temporarily run out of metal replacement wheels, but I have a trip scheduled into Dallas next week to visit Discount Model Railroads for some more (and other "stuff").

Chet - Totally agree regarding the hospitals, I too have been fortunate to only have had one short stay, but if I am not feeling well (fortunately rare), just leave me ALONE. By the way, I'm taking Karl's rail picture over yours any day.
Louis - I finally found the time to take the quiz and missed one, but I missed that one twice because I got the order of the words wrong, and repeated it the second time! I also did it without watching the videos. As far as the audit list, after being MIA for ten years, that will raise another red flag and they will go back as far as the law allows and check some of those years over! Despite being Irish and German, I generally step away from fights. At 5'4", I normally didn't stand much of a chance. I did make friends with all of the "big" guys in HS just to be on the safe side. Fighting bureaucracies (and phone solicitors) on the other hand, is considered a sport.
Sherrel - I am not so far east in TX to have their humidity. Ours hovers below 40% most of the time when it isn't raining. Insects are a relative thing. While the mosquitoes bother my wife, I don't get bitten by them for some reason, probably the mass quantities of Heineken beer. To me, there's issues with any part of the country, you just have to pick out which ones that you want to tolerate. Northeast has snow cold and occasional hurricanes; Southeast has hurricanes, humidity and alligators; Midwest has snow, cold and tornados; Montana has cold, cold, and snow; here in the midsouthwest, we have heat, critters, tornados and heat; Northwest has volcanoes, rain and wildfires; You have mudslides, earthquakes, wildfires and well, California!
Joe - First full sized tomato...cause for celebration. Mine are done with due to the heat.
Garry - What an adventure, glad that you are safe. That young lady on the tracks could, as the saying goes, "stop a clock", so I'm sure she could stop a train. Seriously though, I fully agree on the trespassing thing, dangerous. I have witnessed several car/train collisions at the grade crossing outside of where I worked over the years. Train always wins.

Well everyone have a great and safe day. Keep cool.

Willie

Good morning,
73 and clear says the weather channel.com site.
I don't think so. It's still drizzly and windy. No lightening anymore.
I've about finished building my table. I decided my saws didn't make that much noise so I've building all night.
Of course I might just find myself in a boat load of complaints and looking for a place to live.
I don't think any of Dad's apartments are available.
Oh well.....

Good morning guys.
I went over to visit the Wyoming Division model railroad in Cornville. Huge empire. They didn't have any trains running, just doing scenery. Went up to Flafstaff to watch trains on the BNSF mainline and had lunch at the Railroad resturant on Rt. 66 east of town. Great view of the tracks and great Rueben sandwiches.
Today I'm heading over to Kingman, AZ for a few days to meet up with another friend to do some riding around the southwest. I'll be back at my sister's house here in Clarkdale by Monday night.

Erik, Hobby Lobby carries rolls of "grass" in 4x8 sheets. You can also get them in tan, for dirt/sand. They come in smaller rolls as well, and some of it can be made into hills with crumpled paper underneath, and a heat gun.

This signature is intended to irritate people.

Good morning.59 to start the day off with an expected high in the low 80's. Not too bad.

Professor Ken - I sounds like you are really enjoying your road trip. Nothing like a good Reuben. hope you are going to have a chance to meet with Ray and visit the Diablo bridge,

Eric - Glad to see that you have finally started construction of your new layout.

Garry - A bit of skill got you out of what could have been an ugly situation. Go get the tires. Tires are something that I never take for granted. Good all seasons in the summer and quality winter tires for when the snow flies.

Beady - Nice to see you post. Was wondering where you were.

Going to take the day off today. Yesterday I ended up going to the doctor to have a sist removed. Not in the best place either. On the inside of the leg right at the groin. Just noticed it on Sunday and by yesterday it was about the size of a quarter. The doc made an incision and drained it and then puy a gauze wick into the incision, leaving it open for now to make sure everything drains. Not very comfortable. Did enjoy some pain medicine last night, a touch of Jack Black.

Here's my rail photo, but with a train instead of a girl.

I'll have some pics coming shortly. I ended working through the night despite my imposition on not making too much racket.
I just hope I didn't wake anyone and if so, I doubly hope they aren't going to tattle on and just gripe at me directly - which I'll completely apologetic about.
Standby for pics.

Good morning. It's overcast and 71.
Woke up at 3 am with a migraine, and was forced to take my last migraine pill. I am now out of them until August 15th. Wish me luck on that, I'm gonna need it.

Oh no, I hope you feel better soon and have no more migraines.

Boris, players are human and there could very well be some truth to what you say. I doubt they give in intentionally, but the subconscious could be working on them.

How does any coach get these millionaires to listen to them?

I've posted this before, but it fits and I never get too much of Yogi!

Miley got away with his purposely wild pitching earlier this year, but teams do to much advanced scooting for gimmicks to work for long.

I have no idea what this means, but it has to be one of the worst songs I have ever heard. I was almost wishing a train would come along!

Good morning ....

Garry I've had a rear tire blow out just recently at over 50 miles an hour. Luckily I was the only car on the road because it immediately pulled me into the next lane when the tire blew. I was going over 65. but I heard something just before it blew and took my foot off the throttle.

I'm with you on trespassing. We have the lots of tracks in my area and it happens all to often that people get killed. Somehow they always end up blaming the railroads. The tracks don't move, stay off the tracks jack ass! If people used common sense there would never be a pedestrian and a train accident.

A few years ago a teenage girl was killed walking on the ties between the rails listening to her phone with head phones on. Sadly she was killed. They blamed the railroad for not fixing the fence. I know that area very well. When we were young we would cut the fence as soon as the railroad fixed it. It is a short cut, but we knew enough to stay off the tracks! Now they put up an iron post fence and the kids managed to tear down a section. Walls and fences never work.

God bless all the medical professionals. I like you owe my life to them. I am a firm believer in listening to trained and experienced experts.

Chet I'm sorry to hear about your medical problem. Been there, done that, no fun! I had recurring problems, finally they did a culture and found out I have been colonized by MRSA. I'm lucky that my immune system resists it but when my blood sugar was high it was a reoccurring problem. My blessed wife was shown how to drain them with a needle. That is real love! They also gave me an expensive, almost $200 (thank God I now have insurance) anti-bacterial cream to use.

Now I do a better job of keeping my blood sugar in check and as advised I take very hot showers using anti-bacterial soap. I have not had an outbreak in years.

As always I like your photo, but how about a pretty girl standing at a safe distance from the tracks?

A brief description of my ordeal with MRSA; At first I was being treated at Johns Hopkins, each time cost just under $1000. They did nothing to help me prevent the problem. I was not even aware it could be prevented.

I went to Patient First because I heard they were fast. I saw a Physicians Assistant, he did the procedure and asked me what I was doing to prevent the problem. They did the culture, Hopkins never did. I was told what I could do to prevent the problem. They asked my wife and I if she would be interested in learning how to drain them and then they showed her. All this and the bill was $182 and $114 for the lab work.

At the time I did not have any insurance because of pre-existing conditions and was paying thousands out of pocket with these ongoing problems.

Even though I now have insurance Patient First is now my primary care. Because of the number of problems I have and the complexity of treating them I was assigned to the most experienced doctor, the director of my Patient First location, but I often see the Physicians Assistant for check ups. The doctor always reviews my lab work and other information. I owe them a huge debt of gratitude for helping me to recover and return to work. Not to mention I have not had an out break of MRSA in years.

Big names and big bills do not translate to better health care. It's just another example of what is wrong with our health care system. Hopkins arbitrarily sets it own prices and many follow suit because we except "Usual and Customary" as a basis for prices. The fox is in the hen house! This is a perfect case for government regulation to control the greed.

Willie I have yet to take the quiz, but I don't expect to do very well. maybe I can try to sit next to Terry when I take the quiz. :) Knowing Terry and his high level of integrity he would probably not let me cheat off of him. In reality I am just joking, I hate cheating almost as much as I hate cheaters! Also you may notice I almost never use the word hate, but cheaters are very low on my list.

The state comptrollers office did not give me a breakdown of how they arrived at their final decision. I have asked for a copy so that I don't cross their red lines again. I hope that will help me avoid this in the future.

I don't mind paying my fair share, I just want it to be as low as possible.

I try my level best to avoid confrontations as well and I never swing first, but I can't help myself if they swing first. Believe it or not most of the guys who would tried me when I was young were smaller guys. I've been hit in the back of the head many more than once by guys your size. Luckily God gave me a hard head and good speed to run them down after they hit me. Those days are long gone. I had trouble catching the runaway crabs at this year's 4th of July.

Funny you should mention making friends with the big guys. That is how I met my best friend. Bullies were picking on him in high school (I hate bullies) and I told them to pick on me instead. He has been my most loyal friend ever since. He even forgave me for trying to take out his girl friend, now his wife. He told me "thanks to you I knew she loved me" In many respects I was a real sad piece of work when I was young. Smoking and drinking lead to stupid ideas, may God forgive me.

I'm reading and watching. Spousal Unit has hired (thank the Lord) a couple guys to cut back the overgrown back yard. They came a 7 AM and just left to head to another job, but they will be back a couple more times.
I tried to tell her NOT to plant all those climbing vines, but she wanted them to cover the concrete block wall; not only have they covered the wall but everything else too - trees, shrubs, and all in between. OK .. that's a long story in of its self. I finally told her that I was fed up with it and if she did not seek help that I was gonna cut it all down as I just am not physically fit enough to handle it right now.

CHET .. Sorry about the cyst. I have had two in my life. The last one on the back of my sholder grew to the size of a half dollar. When the Dr lanced and squeezed on it - I thought I was going to black out. Man, was that ever painful!

Louis More interesting stuff. What a life you have experienced!

TERRY .. You need help getting pills - If so - PM me.

AND that is exactly why I pay my Tax Man his fee (which I feel is high), but he is creative enough to cover his costs -- and I do not have to worry, or even think about, an audit from this "ever taxing State".

Afternoon All,

Very, very hot today. I ran down to see a friend in Orlando this morning and when I got home I did a couple of chores. I tried a different roofing technique this afternoon.

Eric- Have fun building the bench work.

Jerry- Welcome, and you're right this is an addiction.

Sherrel/Joe- Thank you for the compliment.

Garry- We had a similar experience on the FL Turnpike with a trooper.

Karl- Now that's railfaning!;)

Chet- Sorry to hear about your cyst. They always seem to grow in the worst places.

Louis- About 5 years ago I went into the ER of the closest hospital (independent) with a very high fever and was diagnosed with Pneumonia although fever was my only symptom. I was admitted and was given IV antibiotics. The next day they hemmed and hawed around and did nothing all day and were talking about keeping me overnight again. My doctor (personal) shows up and asks how I'm doing. He goes out to review the chart and about 10 minutes he walks back in and says, you don't have pneumonia and walks back out. Within minutes a nurse comes in and says I'm being discharged. To this day I think the hospital just wanted to charge me for another day.

Here are 2 roof techniques. Which one do you guys prefer?

20170727_141245.jpg

I hope everyone has a good night.
