I surly am sorry to hear of all the problems concerning 'Photobucket'. I have just always stored my photos on the computer HD and posted to the forum from there using the little window frame icon - third from the right.
What 'Photobucket has done ranks right up there with MS dumping XP and stuffing Win8 down our throats!
I just never felt the need to use 'bucket' - glad I did not!

Toot .. I certainly agree with your last comment about Photo Bucket.

Ken in MD ... if I understand you, you can use your own website to host photos that can be posted in forums. Sounds interesting to me.

I'm still not happy with those IT people who take a smoothly running system and screw it up.

I've got a Jones for the Old West, especially the myth. I've done Cowboy Action Shooting for 8 or 9 years, now. We dress up in cowboy duds and shoot reproduction (mostly, some real) 19th century revolvers, rifles and shotguns at steel targets.

Last 4th of July I made a mad dash to Texas and back. The purpose of the trip was to deliver my best pair of revolvers to a buyer, an off-shore oil worker, who lived near the Rio Grand. After the delivery, I zipped over to Del Rio and Langtry to visit the grave site of Judge Roy Bean (the "law west of the Pecos"), and the Jersey Lily, respectively. On the way back, I stopped at the Washita battlefield.

Never heard of that movie, I'll check it out. The original The Magnificent Seven is one of my favorite go-to movies (the remake is crap); it has a permanent place on my phone and tablet. I also love the movie it's based on, The Seven Samurai. Another favorite Western is Open Range, as well as Broken Trail, and the little-known Thousand Pieces of Gold (the last two are about the Chinese in the West, and both are true stories).

Partner if you get a hankering to make another 4th of July mad dash, ride on into my little house in the hood. Leave your gun on your saddle because the whiskey is good and plentiful!

Nice pictures, thanks for sharing them.

If you have Comcast In a Valley of Violence is on demand under the premium channels.

Favorite western movie, that is like choosing my favorite child, I love them all! True Grit is a good one, the remake is good as well, but there is only one John Wayne, I like all of his movies. "It's pay day boys, come and get it" or "Fill your hands you son of a bitch" my favorite all time quote and movie scene! Followed closely by "Shut up you freak" from the planet of the apes, but that's another genre, but I love those movies as well.

Unforgiven was a good movie.

Spaghetti westerns can be annoying, but I still watch them. The strange close-ups are the most annoying thing about them. An Italian making western movies? Yeah, ok, it's a free country and it beats watching 99% of romantic comedies or lifetime movies.

Son's of Katie Elder and Silverado are both good and latter is my Mom's favorite. 3:10 to Yuma, both versions are good, I could go on and on.

Wow, Beady, Louis, I am a BIG western fan too. Mostly books, however. I am on my 35th Zane Grey novel right now, and I just started reading them a year ago.

I have read at least 50 Louis Lamore novels.

by the way, Good Afternoon all!

David I have trouble reading, I fall asleep after 10 minutes or so. I do much better reading on the computer. I keep saying I am going to get a Kindle Paper White. My wife has one and it's even better than reading on the computer. I enjoy reading too.

I love Dick Powell's Zane Grey Theater on TV. I have seen just about every episode at least twice. "have you ever shot a man face to face gun fighter?"

Regarding photos and PhotoBucket. ...... For several years I stored my digital photos on the hard drive of the computer and they were well organized. Many of them were uploaded to PhotoBucket where I also organized them. The old computer's hard drive failed, and I was unable to recover the photo files. ... With the new computer, I did not take time to save and organize photos on the heard drive because I had my photos in PhotoBucket. ... It will be a slow process copying photos into this computer's hard drive from PhotoBucket ... I don't have as much time as I would like for model railroading, and now I will have to use much of that to screw around with photos. ... Probably, I will select a small percent of photos to save from PhotoBucket. I'll take new pictures of the layout when I want to show stuff in forums.

Meanwhile, I need another host to post in the MR forum where members can not post directly from their computers. At first, I will experiment with Flickr. Here comes another learning curve. Just what I wanted. :p

Garry I am sorry to hear about all these troubles. It really plucks my nerves to do redundant work needlessly, I can imagine how you feel.

Terry that is mind boggling, all in the palm of your hand. My first IBM compatible PC (Gateway 486DX33) had 512K on board graphics, expandable to 1MB. Computers have come a long way in the last 23 years.

Louis, I recently watched the new True Grit version with Jeff Bridges playing the part, enjoyed it very much. A different "take" on the character and even more gritty in the portrayal.

Trying to clean off my work bench - decided to use up a few of my scraps. The bands are cut from the vacuum seal on Folgers coffee plastic cans and the tank core is from a TP roll. Opps, they are built to "O" scale!

Now, I just need a mine and couple sluice boxes ... maybe when I am back home?

Not to labor the P/bucket thing much more, but that Plus 100 account @ $399, so you can share your pics with 3rd parties, is not a one off fee, it's annual.

Good morning everyone. 70 here in SW MO, will get to mid 80's today, with chance of rain. In fact they're saying it will be a soggy 4th, but will clear off later this week.

You all know I don't get on the forum over the weekend, which means that it takes forever to read through the posts on Monday morning!!So some of my comments are gonna seem OLD!

Willie - I agree about Whataburger. Most of the fast food stuff out there is crap and I stay away from it. But get a Whataburger in sight, and my steering wheel goes berserk!! Your garden is sure producing some great looking tomatoes. Right now we're getting squash, beans, and cucumbers, but the tomatoes are still a couple weeks away from turning red.

Beadie - Like you I have accounts I haven't accessed in years, maybe a decade in some cases. Anyway, I prefer to save photos to my computer and/or to travel drives and DVDs.

Still working on the passenger station. Might have a photo to post later this week since it's coming down to the end of that build. Now I need some people to populate the station.

Have a good day everyone.

Good Morning All. 80° and clear, it will be hot today, maybe 96°. Spent a couple of hours after Mass yesterday making and canning spaghetti sauce. I take no chances and I pressure can it instead of water-bathing it. 65 tomatoes and three onions with garden fresh garlic, basil and oregano made 2 2/3 quarts. I added store-bought mushrooms to one jar for variety. The annual July 4 party at my brother's house this year has been cancelled so that he can travel to VA to see his newborn grandson. There's a country club across the street from his back yard that puts on an extensive fireworks show every year. As a kid in the 60's we could see them from our yard, but the trees in between have grown too tall for viewing these days. I'll watch the neighbors here instead. The retired policeman next door about a quarter mile away spends ~$1500 every year for his kids and grandkids.
Out in the train shed, I almost completed the DPM structure that I have been working on. Found enough department store storefront pictures on the Internet to piece together suitable window treatments. Finished weathering the structure, added scuppers and drainpipes, and almost completed the roof details; the kit itself does not contain any of this stuff. I will look through my sign collection for something suitable today. I'll eventually add sidewalks when I determine it's final location and road setback.

Joe -
If I can't save something to my HD, I don't do it. Don't trust these people.
My sentiments exactly. I don't tweet or use Facebook either. Am I old-fashioned or am I more wary of invasion of privacy? Or both...Yes.
Louis -
I have always wanted to see Texas and the western frontier
We have plenty of it, but don't expect to see any in Dallas, Austin, Houston or El Paso. A little still exists in Ft. Worth and San Antonio and lots of it exists in small towns elsewhere. By the way, the Alamo is really a bust! And yes, cowboys on horseback still exist in the county that I live in.
Beady - Damn, you aren't quite the old codger that I had envisioned! LOL Unless those pictures were taken twenty years ago.
Sherrel - Looks like a "chip off the old block". Continued prayers and best wishes for you, and the doggie. Also, nice looking vats.
Ken in MD - I would be very interested in seeing photos of your "grit in paint" textures. I have several areas that I might be able to use that method on.

Everybody have a great week and if you don't drop back by, have a great Independence Day holiday.

Willie

Good morning. 62 degree to start off the day with a forecast high in the upper 80's.

Photobucket.
I do have an account with Photobucket but never use it. Don't remember how I got it, but it is a bit of a pain as when I download a photo from email to a photo gallery on my hard drive, Photobucket automatically downloads it also. I do store all of my photos on an external hard drive so I really have no need for it. Guess I should figure out how to delete the account.

Terry - Looks like the new 'puter is up and running.

Sherrel - Nice work on he tanks. Sure hope you can find out what is wrong with your dog. I am a big dog lover and hate to see them not feeling well. At one time we were up to four dogs, and after having to put two of them down, due to old age medical problems, feel going through. The vet we use is really good. We have a revolving charge account with them. I would hate to want to add up what we spent on out dogs over the years, but the companionship is worth it.

Didn't get to check in yesterday. Went to a car show which worked out quite well. I did sell one car and possibly three more, the ones that were going to go to auction. Got more than I wanted for the one that is sold and it looks like a bidding war on the other three. A lot of out of state people were there making things interesting. Have some people coming over tonight to look at the cars, and who knows, may be able to sell some others.

I really hate to sell any but with the unleaded gas requiring additives to run them, and now with ethanol being put into most gasoline, it makes it difficult to find gas without ethanol on trips. I do have a website that I use to locate ethanol free fuel, but it can be a pain. Modern cars can handle the ethanol, but the older classics really can get damaged if you aren't careful.

Later.

Photobucket....up until a certain "upgrade" a few years ago Photobucket was probably the best place to store photos for a number of reasons. But for me the main reason was they offered multiple ways to post pics to various forums, blogs, emails easily with just 1 click. Most forums seem to use diffrent formats for posting pics...Model Train Forum uses a diffrent format than we do here which is diffrent than Big Blue which is diffrent than RmWeb than Skin Diver etc etc etc. Each was diffrent but photobucket had the formula for each system and it only required 1-click. Easy-peasy.

Unfortunately they screwed that all up a few years ago while upgrading to become a more social-media hipster site, basically making the site unusable for me, so pretty well stopped using them for storing and uploading pics to forums.
This latest idiocy almost seems like they want people to leave....maybe to free up bandwidth for another makeover??

Anyways...my pics are stored on an external hard-drive and I use SmugMug to create upload links....screw Photobucket!!

Good Morning - Happy 4th Weekend to all. I still cannot believe the 'Photobucket' fiasco! Nasty I say, Nasty stuff! It's starting to warm up again this week. Was a very nice cool 52 degrees an hour ago - expected to get near 90 today and 100 later on in the week.

My girl is back ... she woke me up this morning chomping to go! Like nothing was ever wrong (and I am $571 poorer for her effort!) I think maybe I hit the panic button a little too quick. I was so afraid that she might have had something very serious wrong, but I am with you guys now; I think that she had something akin to colic or IBS. Interesting though is the fact that I made no changes in their daily meal - 1/3 portion of dry, 1/3 portion of boiled chicken, 1/3 portion of Pedigree chopped beef and a healthy bite of sweet potato. I am with Chet on the dogs. I will never begrudge them the best when it comes to their health.

Good morning all, 60 and sunny!

Decided to take in Fort Snelling tomorrow for the 4th. There are lots of reinactments going on all day.

Sherrel-- super nice work on the drums, also great to hear about your pup!! she looks great!

Louis, Beady--I am not above watching westerns on the screen, in fact there is a huge selection at our local library which we are trying to exhaust. One nice thing about living in a bigger city is the access to free media. Unfortunately, I don't really bother to remember the titles of the movies!

I have to admit I shy away from John Wayne, I think my upbringing overloaded me on his acting. I like Henry Fonda, Charles Bronson, Cliff VanCleve, Clint Eastwood, and a score of others.

We recently watched the "modern" western Bronco Billy, which has to be an all time favorite of ours.

Everyone, have a good day........

Beadie - Like you I have accounts I haven't accessed in years, maybe a decade in some cases. Anyway, I prefer to save photos to my computer and/or to travel drives and DVDs.
My laptop stopped charging its battery and refuses to be fixed, so I treat it as a desktop; I do have it plugged into a UPS, for power failures, just like I would with a desktop. For travel, I use my tablet (with a bluetooth keyboard and mouse), while my phone works just fine around town.

All of this almost requires that I keep stuff in the cloud. I keep my sync features on at all times to take care of version changes. This includes not only pictures and documents, but books, movies and music, as well.

The one of me in the western getup was taken maybe 2010, the other two in late March, 2015.

My 4th of July rituals include watching 1776 and reading the Declaration. I have an engraved copy I bought from the Bureau of Engraving and Printing for $200. That was back when I had money. I don't care as much as I used to for fireworks. The best display I ever saw, however, was when I was in the Coast Guard, stationed on Governors Island across New York harbor from the Statue of Liberty, in 1973.

Uh, that's "Lee van Cleef," not Cliff VanCleve. I was surprised to see him recently in The Beast From 20,000 Fathoms.

John Wayne is OK, if you don't mind watching him play John Wayne all the time, and Charles Bronson leaves me cold. Otherwise, there isn't much I don't enjoy. I've lately gotten into the stuff I used to watch as a kid. I found a local place where you can buy DVDs of the Cisco Kid, Annie Oakley, and such; I just picked up complete sets of Sergeant Preston of the Mounties and Captain Gallant of the French Forein Legion.
