No wonder I haven't been catching any mice lately

weather changed quickly Saturday morning. rain than ice; slipped on the ice, ugly dislocated left shoulder, severely bruised left hip and hand. I flew perfectly off the top step, but the landing was hard.

gradually twisted my arm back to a normal position and pulled my shoulder back into the socket. went to work and did 7 hours of billable work. i'm not feeling so good, but more work to be done. no sick days for the self-employed. this won't kill me and I doubt there will be any permanent damage, but the injuries are talking to me.

i'm more comfortable on the couch, i don't know when i will be back, but i will be back!

God bless us Everyone

Sounds to me like she made an err for which you made an executive decision and "she's fired" :-)
I had divested several assets in order to meet financial commitments, and placed the funds in the bank, and told my wife what it was for. She discovered the funds, and bought Christmas gifts.

A blistering 22 out there and I'll probably play with the sno-blower today, darn city trucks ruined my sons good shoveling effort on the end of the driveway. C'mon solstice, MY first day of spring! More sun each day is all I care about!

OUCH! Man, I credit Jump School and martial arts training for saving my butt many time since then, learning how to hit the ground from any angle has saved my bones! Most people fight it and that is where you get hurt! When you KNOW you are going to fall to the ground RELAX and as the ground comes into range SLAP it, "kung foo" style! This uses up the energy you have accumulated in the fall up to that point and then you are "falling" from only a few inches off the ground and it's not so bad! Find a place where nobody can watch you and PRACTICE falling down, it's going to happen, be prepared!

Note the difference in what just a few months makes.

Good Morning Everyone. Thanks to Chet and Gary P for sending their weather this way. It's 12° and partly cloudy. Hard to believe that Bruce's temperature is warmer than ours! Had to check the Weather Underground's closest station as it appears that the battery in my outdoor sensor has failed me. At least the wind has dropped off somewhat.
Mentioned last week that I went ahead and built another cardstock structure, this one from the Illinois Historical Preservation folks. This is the Home State Bank.

I need to go back and disguise those dotted lines which aren't visible to the naked eye on the layout.
I was in the picture taking mode yesterday and took a couple of the recently completed benchwork.

Still to come are shelves underneath to put all of the stuff on that is stacked in the corner right now. That is the end of the line on the lower level. I will be building a permanent workbench next to it in front of a 6' window, the entry door is next to the window. The upper level will continue over the workbench and there will be a removable "stoop-under" across the door at 54" high. It will be 5' away from the door, so it won't actually need to be removed too often. It will connect to the existing upper level layout on the other end to allow continuous running on that level. Temporarily out of 1/2" plywood to do the remainder, just haven't had the time to purchase it yet.

Gary P - Congratulations on the grandbaby.
Chet -
The city of Bozeman has got to have the worst snow removal program in the country.
You ain't been to Texas...
Justin - The scene is looking really good now.
Terry - Man! That black cloud just won't go away. Truck, dog and checkbook; all in one day.
Louis - OUCH! Watch out brother. Best wishes for a speedy recovery.
Curt - Those warning horn towers look great.
Bruce - Damn good advice regarding falling.
Eric - I see that the hair is finally going. You still look healthy though. Glad that I could get you interested in the cardstock/paper structures. I like them and have nine on the layout now, although a couple are in temporary locations. It takes some practice, but as I pointed out before, if you flub one up, you just re-print it and go at it again.

Well, I see that the cats have ventured forth from the barn for breakfast. They must have depleted Mother Nature's supply of natural foods, or they are saving some for later. Gotta go and feed them.
Everybody have a great day.

Willie

I do know the problems at our house aren't as bad as many others. It's just that the hits keep comin'. Kind of like being pecked to death by ducks...

Oh man, I know that feeling! You THINK you are all caught up and you turn around and BAM! WTF??? We have NO "wiggle room" in the budget and took two BIG hits this summer, the water heater and the furnace! Good thing it was in the warmer weather, gotta find a positive no matter how deep one must dig to find it!

Only a week till Christmas!

I like the sense of desperate excitement in the air the night before Christmas at the Mall. Figures darting furtively from store to store, "OMG, what do I get him/her???" Writ LARGE in the body language of the shoppers. I already know what to buy, it's just a matter of finding it at the right price. That's why I wait until the very last day.

That card stock building looks great!

It's the Lakes, you never know what they will do to a system when it comes across the plains, take the moisture right out of a system or LOAD it to capacity! Warm the air mass or cool it! The delicate interplay of relative temperatures and humidity of the system and the Lakes has yet to be deciphered by meteorologists and leads to the saying "If you don't like the weather, wait ten minutes, it WILL be different!"

Louis - all I can say is OUCH!!! Slow down a little [not easy I know] and and give the ol' bod a chance to recover.

Bruce - I remember reading something along the lines of what you said about relaxing your body before some kind of trauma. A study by some leading university noted that in car accidents involving drunk drivers, the drunk usually survives while the sober victim dies. Probably because the drunk was more relaxed and didn't see the accident coming...

Terry - hang in there, we're all quite aware of your tight situation and want to see things get better for you. Those birds pecking at you are probably not ducks, but Canada geese - they are the bullies of the pond driving the ducks away!

We will finally be getting our tree today after Mass. SWMBO has established this tradition where the entire family goes out and chops down our own Christmas tree, and she wants all the youngin's to be present for that event. This will probably be the last year this is possible, as our 21yr-old is graduating from Nursing school in May and might not settle in our area [her boyfriend lives in Illinois]. From then on we're going to go "synthetic".

Where do I start this morning? About a quart low on coffee after a not so nice night of sleeping - up and down all night - miserable.
You guys can have your cold temperatures back! 33 this morning and clear - hopefully 67 this afternoon.

Really sorry to hear of all the trials and tribulations going on with everyone, therefore I won;t add mine. I got enough to fill a book at the moment. I'll just throw this one out for a teaser: Wife's mother has been back and forth to the hospital several times , 4 to be exact, in the last 6 weeks. As of last night she was released back home - but they think she may have some sort of "super bug" that keeps recurring (I forget the name). The family was all planning Christmas dinner and meeting at her home - about 30 people + 10 or so dogs. Well, guess what? If she is contagious then the only other house anywhere close to having the room for everyone is HERE! Now remember - I am having surgery on the 22nd! I wonder how well I am going to be able to maneuver around and help the Spousal Unit with her duties?
Stand by for the next chapter!

Sherrell - Wow that's a dillemma alright! Hopefully S/U comprehends the situation [that you'll need your rest for recovery] and not expect anything unreasonable from you...btw I suspect the SuperBug your MIL has picked up is MRSA.

Eric - forgot to mention earlier, your current portrait looks a helluva lot better than the "before" portrait!

Sherrel, would that possibly be MRSA? It's antibiotic-resistant staph infection. I managed to get it, and nearly died from it.

Cousins, Aunts and strays must be rounded up to pitch in, it sounds like an all hands on deck situation!

Is it absolutely necessary to host a dinner like that under the circumstances?
