Hey, CA DAVID!
Been trying to call you to wish you a HAPPY BIRTHDAY! i GUESS THAT YOU ARE OUT ON THE TOWN CELEBRATING!

Evening All,

Went up to see Jon and Phil today and we had a great time. After getting home I put a couple of detail parts around the station. Tomorrow I have to run downtown with MOH so I'm going to stop at the LHS and see if they have any fencing so I can finish up the project. Oh yeah, I still need to make a sign for the display.

Chet- Congrats on the 45 years.

Garry- Great job on both business's.

2869ral- Excellent job on the bridges. Thanks for the video. That is a nice picture of your Dad.

Sherrel- I did wish Phil your greetings. I think SNL is not near as funny as in the early years, but maybe that was your point.:p

Karl- I had forgotten about that thumbnail image. Thanks for posting it again.

CA Dave- Happy Birthday. I hope you had a great day.

VA Ken- Nice video. That loco looks like it is a great puller.

LASM- Good to hear from you again.

Ken- With what I have seen of your work I have no doubt you will do great (with a lot of bad language!).

I hope everyone has a good night.

It feels like Christmas!

Everybody I have talked to today (in person) has been complaining about the cold, what are they are they going to do when it gets really cold! It's 20 now that the sun has gone down. Chet tell them what cold really is.

I feel for the people working out in the weather, I did that for many years and it takes it's toll on you.

Sherrel I care!

Willie and Garry thank you for your kind words, God is good to me, I don't know why I just say thank you!

Willie Baltimore is a notoriously frugal market. When I worked for Firestone we had adds specifically targeted to Baltimore with lower prices and extra coupons. Prices were at a minimum 15% lower than DC or Philly.

Good to see my friend LASM has stopped by.

If I missed anybody forgive me, I think each and everyone of you is top notch and I would never slight any of you.

I hope Everybody is enjoying the holidays, I know I am!

Here is a picture courtesy of my friend 113, he is a super nice guy, but don't tell anyone it will spoil his reputation ;)

Good evening all!

14° and breezy, wind chill puts temps down near zero. Woodstove & heatpump now have the house at 78°, nice! Tomorrow is the last day we will be using our old computer system at work (ADP), Monday we switch to Dealertrack. And I've only had about an hours training! Mondays gonna be fun!
Meanwhile, SWMBO passed the final exams for the Real Estate course, Saturday morning she takes the State licensing exams, so she is steady studying!

Louis, Nice Holiday card!

Garry You think I.P.Dailey was funny, I have some other signage that is for "mature audiences only".

Terry, 5 minutes after posting about the stroke, I remembered that song. LOL!!

catch y'all this weekend!

LOL! What do they call it? Synchronicity? Singularity? Sympatico? Something or other but it happens all the time here, I was JUST running these even though they still have plastic wheels, got em in a lot from a dealer dude and I like em! A Passenger car, a mail car and this byoot! They strike me as not new by a while, Tri ang England is on the bottom, anybody ever heard of em?
DSCF4447.jpgB&O action mode! Several many rollers of various kinds but I'm lacking in B&O power for them at the moment.

COLD?(oh no, not again!) I'll tell ya man! When I was out there on the "Frontiers of Freedom" it got COLD!!! LOL! I'm from Mich and y'all know we get our share but what they get is another thing! When I got to Korea in May they were talking about "Siberian cold fronts" and I laughed, by mid December I was no longer laughing, I was FREEZING! The moisture content of the air or LACK as the case may be is what I think makes the biggest difference. I don't know how those CHOSON guys did it. We were only camping out a few days at a time, running around just "training" and the memory is a painful hell. Thank God nobody was shooting at us!

Evening Gents,
Talk about winter coming in! After living in the South for over 33 years winter sure caught up to me. The Dr. even can elled my appt this saying she didn't want me to have to get out in the cold. Don't know what the temps were at that timebut i do know that right with wind chill it only "feels like" 6 here at the moment.
I can handle it ok. To bad the cancer can to otherwise I'd step outside for a while or maybe go fir a walk.
Oh well.

Hey, CA DAVID!
Been trying to call you to wish you a HAPPY BIRTHDAY! i GUESS THAT YOU ARE OUT ON THE TOWN CELEBRATING!

Sherrel: Sorry I missed your call, my cell phone was cut off due to my provider not having my current IMIE # of my new phone.

Thanks the Birthday well wishes, I do appreciate it.

I hope everyone has a good night.

Hi Curt: Thanks alot for the Birthday well wishes, it's appreciated.

I think I'd go for the culvert/road underpass a bit further along, with a picture of the Canyon Diablo as a reference.

David, Happy Birthday.

Say Toot: Thanks also for your birthday wishes, they mean a lot too!

Good morning. 113, thanks for getting the coffee going. We're at 15 degrees with a little bit of snow that fell over night.

David - View attachment 59715

At least out computers are up and running after the server problems yesterday, so I guess I should get some work done. Later.

Say Chet:
Thanks for your birthday wishes and the cake, that means a lot too! But where are the dancing Girls? Heck, I'd settle for one at this point! LoL

Good morning, everybody.

RIP Jeff Running Bear. It was two years ago today when he died.

David ...... Happy Birthday ! .. ..... Thanks for remembering when Jeff died. I guess I asked just in time so he can be remembered on the anniversary of his passing. I can imagine Running Bear is liking the Happy Hunting Ground. ...

Say Garry: Your birthday wish is appreciated too as well as remembering our mutual friend Jeffrey, they mean a lot!

Your Plumbing supply and lumber yard and the guy loading the lumber are both very interesting. Showing some action in the shot makes a lot of difference. I'm still anxiously awaiting to see how you outfit Wicked Wanda's Place! ??

Guys, i just joined this forum a couple months ago. I didnt know Jeff, can anyone tell me a little about him? Seems like he was well liked here. Thanks Ron

Ron: Jeffrey was a guy that was quite talented in being able to take spare parts and cobble together a locomotive, mostly Diesel as I recall and even though he lived in a small trailer he had a fair size layout he used to operate and video quite often too. He was aslo very familiar with Digitrac DCC and answered many a question for various others on the forum.

Good afternoon. This is my fourth attempt to post here over the last 24 hrs. Every time I start, somebody or something - at work or at home - diverts my attention and I never get around to finishing it

R.I.P. Jeffrey W., aka Dr. Frankendiesel.

David in CA - Happy Birthday!

I know I probably missed a few of you - if I did, sorry about that! Gotta get back to work here...

Hi Ken: Your birthday wish is appreciated as well Thanks!

Good morning everyone....
Fresh coffee is made....
Hope that you're all doing well....
One more shift before the weekend!
Have a nice day!

Say Mel: I hope I have your name right? Thanks for making coffee.

Happy Birthday David!

HappyBirthday.jpg

Thank you David for remembering our good friend Jeffery.

RIP Jeffery, we miss you.

Hi Louis: Thanks for the Birthday wish and the neat old loco card, real nice touch.

Good Morning All. 35° and overcast today. Today is supposed to be 43° for the high, tomorrow 73°...quite a change.
Once again I didn't spend a lot of time in the train shed yesterday. Tis the season to be busy with Christmas tree, gifts, decorations, baking multitudes of cookies (wife got frustrated and I took over yesterday), and drooling over "Amazon" pages. I did start another cardstock structure while I had all of the tools and supplies out. More on that later.

David -
Did it start? Happy Birthday.

Well it's time to feed the cats outside as they are banging against the door.
Everybody have an awesome day.

Willie

Hi Willie: Thanks for the Birthday wish, I appreciate getting yours as well. Now about the tractor's starter? I also now need to get another Battery as I'm sure the old one's fluid has all evaporated out of it even though it's a maintaince free type. It appears the single cover has vent ports on each side and it been about three years since I used it last. But I do have extra battery acid and I'm tempted to remove the cover and fill the cell with some acid and then add water to see if I can get it to hold a charge?? I've heard some about being able to recondition old batteries and that is about the only way I know of doing that. So to answer your question I don't know yet but I'm fairly sure it will ! More fresh gas is need too.

I hope all have a very good Friday!

13 degrees in King George, VA. Dang, that's cold. Takes my enthusiasm to ride the Harley and puts it in the pickup truck.

I just landed my train here in Belen Nm. 58 degrees out at 0430, that was a rough nite, im glad we got here fast. Oh and David, Happy Belated Birthday! Now off to sleep!

Good morning Everybody!
It’s 18 with 35% humidity here in southeast Baltimore.
I walked my wife to her car at 4am and watched her driveaway until she was out of sight. Standing there on my porch in my shorts andt-shirt I was having second thoughts about not getting dressed before walkingher out. I’m not worried about any one thinks of my bright white, skinny legs, but baby it’s getting cold outside!
Karl, I’m gladyou liked the B&O Holiday Card, I can’t take any credit for that, good ol 113finds the best pictures and lucky he shares them with me!
Bruce thoseveterans of the Korean War are super heroes. I use to see one wearing hisKorean War Baseball cap on Sunday mornings when I was making my weekly grocerystore run. I told him he was a real hero and he told me “the real heroes nevercame home” a humble man. I have not seen him in months, I hope he is ok. Allthe men and women who served in that theater are heroes. Staring across theline day after day at one of the world’s most unpredictable lunatics with allthat artillery pointed at you must be stressful. Thank you, Sir, for yourservice to our great nation and the world. And I like those B&O passengercars!

How about this one Bruce for $39.99 Bachmann HO 64605 Alco FA2 Diesel Locomotive, Baltimore and Ohio (DCC Ready)
BAC-64605-2.jpg
I know they were built for freight, but any power will do in a pinch.

David I am gladyou liked the card, it was the oldest looking locomotive birthday picture Icould find. I hope you enjoyed your day. By the way I have a cousin David andyesterday was his birthday as well!
Ron I’ll ad myperspective on Jeffery, AKA Dr. Frankendiesel. He was a man of many talents, capable of top notch modeling, but he also had a few Tyco locomotives mixed in.He was not at all pretentious and never condescending. Every morning he wouldpost a picture or pictures from his layout or whatever. I loved those pictures. From his accurate Green Hornet car to his Pathmark Tyco locomotive andeverything in between. He made the most of what he had and he operated on asmall budget, but never made excuses and seldom complained about anything, Iwas so very proud and honored when he sent me a friend’s request. A top notch, experiencedmodeler reaching out to an enthusiastic novice. That was our Jeffery, we allmiss him. Post a picture or two and think of Jeffery, he would like that.
If this post looks strange forgive me, I had to type it intoMicrosoft Word because my internet is down. It’s been spotty for the last fewweeks. I had a Comcast tech come out, great guy, very professional. I am a veryhappy Comcast customer! Luckily my service blinked out for a bit while he washere. He checked everything I had and was here almost 2 hours and said all myequipment is up to date and good to go. He found out that they have been doingwork nearby on the system and that was causing my intermittent troubles. I needto make time to call them for a credit, I’m being frugal again Willie
Enjoy the Holidays Everybody!

Heat wave! 10 whole degrees!

Yea, Korea was a trip! If I wrote it up I'd have to publish it as fiction!

Thanks but I don't do "DCC ready"! LOL! I'm not ready.

Good Morning All. 48° and overcast skies this morning. Strange because it was 36° when I hit the sack last night...warmed up overnight headed for 73 today. Low Saturday night is forecast to be 17°...quite a drop! Glad that I am not in Montana or Michigan right now. Saw some scenes of the cold weather in Washington DC yesterday on TV, very unusual to see certain politicians with their hands in their own pockets. Went grocery/beer shopping yesterday, and was pleased that both the check-out guy and the grocery bagger at Kroger said "Merry Christmas" instead of the politically-correct "Happy Holidays". Same with the Salvation Army folks in front of the store. Got our Christmas tree up, and the lights/decorations out of the attic...need to find someplace for them at ground level!
Once again I didn't spend a lot of time in the train shed due to other seasonal stuff. While running trains, I noted that it's been a while since I "dusted & cleaned" some railcars. Especially noticeable on black tankers after I touch them. So I cleaned about two dozen and replaced plastic wheels with metal ones on three of them while off the tracks. I do have to dust and remove cobwebs about every two years. More to come.
Speaking of Jeffery, Like others, I knew him on several other forums as well. He had even started his own forum "Rails of the World", which was still available but not updated until sometime earlier this year...now it no longer accepts my password.

Garry - Yep I brought some cookies into the Coffee Shop for you today. Triple chocolate with pecans and some short-bread sugar ones. Help yourself.
Dave - Good to hear from you again. Saw your pictures on the other thread and liked them like all of your others.
Ron - Hope that Mina made it back home OK.
Sherrel - Best wishes on the up and coming surgery.
Chet - Pretty cool drone video of the Canyon Diablo Bridge. Looks like some pretty easy scenery to model! Oh! Congratulations on the 45 years. You got me beat as we have been married only 44 years.
Eric - A special good morning to you. I'm enjoying your southern winter for a few more days then BAM for two days, then back to normal 60° days. Christmas day is forecast to be 58° with a chance for rain.
David - Always add acid to water, never the reverse when you try to revive the battery.

Everybody have a great Friday and Merry Christmas.

Willie

Not a very pleasant morning up here today. It's about 5 above and snowing. We got around 10 inches of snow over night and it's still snowing lightly. Louis is right about me knowing what cold is and we're about to get a refresher course. The 5 above is supposed to be the high for the day with minus 22 expected tonight. We are used to cold weather up here. Going back a few years I can remember getting up to minus 67. Now that was cold. I can remember starting the old pick up. It did manage to start even though I forgot to plug it in, but the lubricants were so stiff that I couldn't let up on the clutch or the engine would stall out. After coaxing the clutch, I finally got it to run on its own and went inside and sat on the wood stove. We also had one period of 45 days where the high did not get above zero. Guess that's why we enjoy summer so much.

The Diablo Canyon Bridge is pretty cool. With Ken and 2896ral (gonna have to get his name) talking about it I had to do some investigating. I hope Ken is up to the challenge of building it. It could be tough. Living up here in the mountains the scenery down there is such a difference. I have driven across Arizona, Nevada, Utah and New Mexico and although there are some really barren areas, it sure is beautiful in its own way.

Better get a few thing done so I will catch you later.

In contrarian to Chet's post it is a beautiful day here in the Commie California South. Actually California sorta reminds me of Korea - The Commie's are pretty much are in the northern part except for the greater Los Angeles section - and the Hollyweird area. But, but ... It's actually raining! .. So, For today - Who Cares! It's 54.9* and the expected high of 56? OK .. to clear things up a bit .. You all would call this a "light rain"; but it's wet and WE NEED WET!

Speaking of Korea, Bruce ... school buddy of mine was in Korea during the mid 60's. He still talks about how cold it was!

CHET - Thanks for the bridge video.

I see this morning that we have a "COOKIE MONSTER" living in Western Kentucky . Grab em while you can before GARRY gets to them!

Going to make this short - still making adjustments to this computer. I was back at the Geeks last evening with another virus lockup. Am on first name basis with them at the moment. Really great guys .. they showed me what to do to clear the virus should it pop up again. Guess that I will just have to abandon Facebook as that is where I have picked it up twice now.

Hope everyone has a good day - I gonna go watch the rain for awhile (even though it is light).
