Good afternoon gang....refill anyone?
One of my other interests, or obsessions, much like the Milwaukee Road....Mopar!

This arrived today!

One does hope that you're all enjoying a pleasant day and oncoming weekend!

Good afternoon. It's cloudy and 28.
Willie, we had some discussin over what to do with Jeffery's forum. It had gotten to the point nobody except me and a couple admins were posting there, and there were hundreds of membership requests from spammers every day. We finally decided to pull the plug around the first of this year.

For anyone interested, the 38th parallel, which divides North and South Korea, is around Charleston, West Virginia. There is a marker on I-77 at that point, and the highway is dedicated to the veterans of that war.

I wasn't posting because I was plowing out my driveway. Now the dogs have a place to go out and pee. Down to Minus 2 degrees now. Looks like it is all downhill from here.

Afternoon All,

Ran downtown earlier and stopped at the LHS. They did have the fencing I wanted from Tichy, but not their 40 ft flat car kit. With the fencing I finished up the station project and made the sign for the display also.

I think my next quick project is that I'm going to add 2 warning horns on poles similar to what the Pennsy had on the "slide" for excessive speed on the section of my layout I have named Running Bear Pass in honor of Jeff.

Karl- Good luck to your wife on her exam.

NG- Nice looking B&O car. Is it metal? It looks like it to me in the picture.

Louis- Nice looking loco. Is it one of yours?

Milw113- Everybody needs an obsession...I mean hobby!

Garry- It's a small world.

I hope everybody stays warm and has a good night.

Sherrel-i like the commie comment! Yes you guys need the rain. I go to Kernville everyother year gold prospecting and that Kern river was at a trickle last time i was there.

Garry-thanks i just woke up and didnt get any cookies!

Chet-if you're famiar with the City of Canyon Diablo and its Sheriffs (that didnt last too long) a coworker that i worked with a few months ago said him and his wife look for artifacts around that area. He said his wife found an old Sheriffs badge. Just think if that badge could be authinticated!

Willie-thanks, Mina made it through the night, but i dont believe she is going to be with us much longer. SUCKS, she has been the best dog!

Thanks everyone who told me a little about Jeff, i wish i could have met him.

Im showing to get called around 2300 on a Z train to head back home. The only problem is there is a high wind advisory on the Clovis sub (Winds can reach over 100mph through the canyon just East of Belen, it has blown several trains over this last year) and the lineup may fall several hours. BUMMER!

Have a good one everyone!

RON

CURT .. If you keep up the smaller work projects such as this station, You're going to have the basics for doing some very nice modeling! LOL;)

BTW - Is Phil doing OK?

Ron- Sorry about your dog and be safe tonight.

Here is the sign I made but I forgot the second set of italics. I don't think it can be seen on the layout.

RON - Stillstruggling with a couple of puker issues, so will be posting a few short vibes to see if I am making any headway.
Very sorry to hear of your doggy's problems. I've lost 3 over the last 13 years (wow, how time has slipped by) and it never gets easier- and you never forget them. Anyway, just sitting here on the couch now with one laying next to me and the other laying with his head on my foot - I was just thinking how sad I am going to be when I lose this baby. Then, with all the issues I have had lately, I am beginning to just hope that I can outlast her. The little one will take up with anyone, but this one certainly is my shadow and She will be lost without me.

Dam I wish I would/could have brought at least SOME of my train stuff with me here. There just wasn't enough time. None of us realized things were as deadly serious as they were.
I would have brought my NCE stuff - the engines need power after all. All my DCC engines and maybe a couple of my best DC engines.
I wouldn't need many cars really. Just a handful.
I would have brought a lot of tools and materials so I could work on stuff. I miss working on stuff more than I do actually driving trains. Bet I'm not the only one that feels like that.

Eric, I wonder if we have any forum members anywhere near your old place. Maybe one of them could go retrieve your stuff, and send it to you.

The temps are still going down. Minus 4 now and the skies are clearing. If we have clear skies tonight, it will really get cold.

Curt - I really like the what you did with the station. Well done.

Ron - I am not very familiar with the area where the bridge is. I have passed through the area a number of time but never stopped. Not much to stop for. Sorry to hear about your dog. You can really get attached to them. We had four but in the last couple of years we lost two of them. Old age and the problems that comes with it. The two remaining are like family. They all were. Have a safe trip. Just east of us we have the same problem with the high winds between Laurel and Livingston, MT. I have seen the BNSF and Montana Rail Link halt operations when the wind starts howling.

Garry - Cool story about the cat.

Eric - Feel bad for you missing your trains. If you can't ge someone to send up some of yours, maybe you can order something just to keep yourself occupied.

Time to head back home and get ready for the Friday night bowling league.

Later.

Hi gang. Been skimming the forum, trying to catch up, and noticed some talk about Canyon Diablo. In an ever-futile attempt to contribute, it may be of interest that the formal name of the meteor that blasted out Meteor Crater is Canyon Diablo. I've got a small piece in my collection. Oddly, you can't buy Canyon Diablo pieces at Meteor Crater, but have to search them out.

ERIC -- I'm just glad to see that you are "chipper" enough to want to work on something. The other day when you were sort of down, I meant to remark back to you that - that is what the Chemo does to you. It has taken over a year for me to start feeling pretty good again. That stuff is a poison and (in my case) just made me feel like crap during and for a long time after. Prayerfully you will get cured and then it will just take some time to get back to simi=normal.
If nothing else - print out some of Willie's paper buildings and work on those, or get on eBay and buy a few cheap things to mess around with. Maybe even a circle of track and a small switcher to run around it. You don't have to have all the DCC stuff. Chet don't, Willie don't, and I don't (lol).
Reminds me that I need to get the train set up around the tree!

Strange name for a rock.

14 F now and it looks like it is not supposed to get any colder tonight. I grew up closer to the 45th than the 38th so it sure was a shock how much colder it gets there!

Anything your buddy tells you about Korea, BELIEVE him, it's all true!

Sadly no, the sweet B&O passenger cars are plastic, some of the wheels have been replaced and it is hard to tell what was on there to start with.

E should start a "go fund me" page, you have actual need, THERAPUTIC trains! Heck even I can squeeze out 5 or 10 dollars for a cause that worthy! Between us all you'd be running something in no time! The crazy/frivolous things people are getting big bucks for on there is amazing!

Sherrel-thanks, and thats looks like a faithful companyon. Not sure what ailing you, but i hope you start feeling better.

Eric-im sorry you are sick. I hope you get better soon. Can i do anything for you? I would be willing to send you something from my collection to keep you occupied. How about some kits to build? PM me your address please.

Beady-i didnt even know that, and im from this area. LOL thanks

Bruce, I can never remember who said it, but a quote I always remember goes something like this; "The difference between writing fiction and non-fiction is that fiction has to be believable"
I've never done DCC ready either, why bother when we can buy DCC equipped for under $60, but I was tempted to buy that one!

Willie I was too late for the cookies :( and anything pecan or shortbread is among my favorites! I'm looking forward to my homemade Christmas pecan pie my wife makes for me. It is so worth it to skip a meal to have a piece of that pecan pie! I'll be an extra happy man for those 8 days! I skip so many meals and take extra walks over the holidays to have sweets I usually lose a few pounds.

Garry and Curt I was so tempted to buy that locomotive, but then I would need to find a B unit and buy 2 of each. I already have more HO locomotives than I can use. Santa has to draw the line somewhere and God knows I can't cut the budget on my boys. I already blew the budget out of the water! If I spend a dollar on them for Christmas I always end up spending more than grand. What budget...

Chet that is some serious cold, that's Siberian cold! Next time I complain about the cold I will think of you and shut the... you know what up. Be safe out there my friend.

Sherrel thank God for the rain, light rain, any rain. You Russian loving pinko! ;)

Hey 113! Is that Slowpar?

Terry If I'm not mistaken the 38th parallel is south of Baltimore, thank God for the gulf stream!

Ron I am very sorry to hear about your dog, they are family to us. It's a shame they have such short life spans. The joy they bring in those years is worth the pain of losing them and like the movie I think All dogs go to heaven.

E I'm the odd ball, I'd much rather run a train round and round than to work on them or scenery. I read a few days ago in another thread that a guy carriers a little N scale set around in a brief case when he is traveling. I thought that was a brilliant idea! I'm glad to hear you are feeling good enough to miss your trains, hang tough brother!

Hey Beady, good to see your post. I can't add anything intelligent to that discussion, but it's good to see you.

Same for you Ken of the D&J it's good to see your posts in the coffee shop as well. Stay off that bike for the next few days, I don't want to read about a biker frozen to 66.

Well that's it for me. I billed 6 more hours today and I feel great, thank God!

I'll end this with the warm temperature in my driveway in southeast Baltimore, Dundalk that is :) 26.8 with 37% humidity at 8:50 pm eastern time.

Good night Everybody!

Good evening gang!

Were expecting some kind of winter precip tonight, then switching to rain tomorrow. Brrrrr, I'll see how many excuses I can use to stay in the basement tomorrow. Planning the new layout sounds like a plan! SWMBO has to go to B-more tomorrow morning to take her state Real Estate test. If she passes she'll be an agent! Anyone wanting to move to our little slice of Absurdistan , just drop us a line!;)

Hey Louis, Sherrel's too pale to be a Pinko! :p

BBL gang!
