Terry - Thanks a whole lot for the update on Eric. I know that what he is going through is extremely tough, as I have had friends go through it as well. Continued thoughts and prayers from me.

Willie

Afternoon All,

I hooked up the SPST switches to the signals and made labels for them with my P-Touch machine. I also mounted the switch for the signal I have to redo. I have been thinking seriously about adding a 1' x 5' section to the front of the layout to have a terminal to load and unload the LCL and TrucTrain containers that I have. I already have a rolling crane that I built several years ago (spans 3 tracks)(I would have 2 tracks and a parallel road), Office, Spare trucks, Ramp, and spare containers. I would need track, 2 T/O's and roadbed.

Tomorrow I think I have been shanghaied to pickup a load of dirt in my truck. My back will be sore afterwards. Tuesday night I have a retirement party of a previous co-worker to go to.

VA Ken- Thanks, I always seem to be a dollar short and a day late.

Sauced07- I had a driveway like that in Summerville, but I never had to deal with snow or ice, just the SC downpours.

Bob- Great to seeing you posting again.

Terry- Thanks for the update on Eric.

I hope everyone has a good night.

Good afternoon. Did get some actual work done on the layout today as well as running trains. Not to bad today with the temps up into the teens, but there is snow in the forecast.

Bob - great to see you post again. Don't be a stranger.

Eric - You are facing the unknown, and my prayers are with you. You're gonna whip this thing.

Sauced -
I don't have a snow shovel either. If I can't sweep it off the steps or plow it out of the driveway, it's there until spring.

I found an electrical problem today where one of my walk around throttles wouldn't work on one part of the layout. An easy fix, a loose connection. Been lucks as I have had extremely few electrical problems since the layout was built.

While working on the layout I let one train just run around the layout while adding a few trees and ground cover.

Ground cover was touched up on the embankment below the tracks and in the second photo, I made some trees and planted them above the tunnel portal. Ran little "Buckshot" for a while swapping out loaded gons for empties.

While the one train was left running on the main line, This local freight train was sent out to drop off some box cars at the same time. It required a bit of multitasking with two different throttles and flipping a lot of switches, but the cars were dropped without a wreck.

Catch you later.

Looks great Montanan! That is what I end up doing, get one set and running and see if I can get some switching done before it comes back! Got my "new" set up almost figured out, two more ramps and some tunnel action on one side and...I'm still trying to figure the other side out.

E, one step at a time. My mom was worried about the radiation and it was not nearly as bad as she expected, side effects were minimal, she did not even loose much hair! Don't sweat it.

Good evening. It's clear and 10.
Common sense partially prevailed this evening. We removed half a dozen trailers from the event venue, and each of us pulled one trailer back to the shop, since we were going there anyway.

Yeah, but just think Chet, with DCC you could have just used 1 throttle and only had to worry about turnout switches

Terry .... It was good of you to provide an update on Eric's condition. If you can relay our thoughts and prayers to him, we will appreciate it. We care for him and are praying for him.

Chet ... Your photos are impressive. Tricky switching for DC operations. I like the photos.

Here i am fellas. Haven't been worth a dam since the. New g-tube Tue morning. I was back in the ER a few hours later in screaming pain. Came home Friday evening. Right now i still hurt where the new tube is and can not stand without being bent over. If I have to lay flat - for anything - it just ain't gonna happen. I physically won't be able to do it.
Tomorrow at 0815 I'll be starting the first of a few chemo sessions - once every 3weeks because of how hard it is on the body. Right after i start with my1st radiation session.

To be honest, Terry toned down my words when he said i was concerned- it's more like practically terrified.
Honestly, I think my body needs a break. I'm still in a world of pain. I'm simply not prepared for another assault of bodily abuses just now. I'm still in a mess over thus last crap.

I'm just needing a little break - maybe a week is all.

Right now I'm weak, scared and mentally not up to it.

I pray for God's help throughout all this. Kind of weird....I don't quite know how to pray for yourself. I have always prayed for others first.

Thank you all for the gifts!!
It truly means a lot!

Eric... I'm glad to see you but sad to hear about your miseries. Of course, it is okay to pray for your self and there are many examples in the Bible. .... Matthew 7:7. .... "Ask, and you will receive. Seek, and you will find. Knock, and the door will be opened for you. " ... several of the Psalms may be good too. .. we're praying for you. The Lord will be with you. ... Your friends here are pulling for you!

Good morning guys. 9 degrees here in King George, VA.
The cat showed up this morning for his morning feeding of warm cat food.
Eric, I'll keep you in my prayers and in my group prayers for healing as well as comfort and solace. I trust that you will walk closer to God in the coming days and find a deeper relationship with him.

LOL! Up North here it's 17 degrees, heat wave! Not very often do you get it worse than us! Now you know why I say we earn our summers up here.

Just drove the old Lady to the doctor to have some injections in her neck! She has a slipped/herniated disk in her third or fourth vert, been a problem for years and only now does she go get it taken care of, stubborn!

Good Morning fellow modelers. We're at 34° with overcast skies. Supposed to warm up for a few days, then they're predicting rain from Friday through Monday. Went grocery/beer shopping yesterday, seems like the chosen day has shifted due to the holidays. Need to get back to going on Thursday morning when there are a lot fewer people; although it was pleasant looking at all of the ladies decked out in their Sunday best. Spent much of the afternoon working on a partial kitchen upgrade that I have been planning. Re-painting shelves and generally clearing out stuff that we haven't used in 20 years and putting all of the utensils at a level that I can reach. My wife is taller than I am, so many things are on shelves that are too high for me to safely retrieve without the stepstool.
Out in the train shed, I put in the new heater and will wait to see how long it takes to warm the place up. It started at 40° which was still 20° warmer than outside.

Karl - Think your weather is screwy, we're forecast for 75°+ starting tomorrow for three days! After 7° Saturday.
Bob - Texas Roadhouse huh! Must have reminded you of Denton. Good luck with the new Kindle. Those DPM kits will keep you busy at the motel.
Curt - Isn't it great to have a positive day in the train room?
Chet - Scenery upgrades and additions look great.
Eric - Hang in there brother. You have made it this far, just a bit more to go. I hope that you are feeling the positive vibes from all of us here in the Coffee Shop.

All right now, everybody have a great day.

Willie

Good morning, everyone. It's 23 here, clear. Forecasting a nasty ice storm this weekend - hope not, but right now the meteorologists are saying get ready. Another cup of coffee please.

It's my birthday today - 69 - daughter and son in law and granddaughter (4 months old) came over yesterday for lunch and gave me two railcars and one structure (lumber and millwork) to add to the layout. Son in law and I had a good time in the train room working on some scenery along the walls - we decided to keep about four inches between the wall and the track. Want to get that scenery blocked in so we can lay roadbed and track correctly. Getting excited now! Will start posting some photos soon.

Man - it takes a long time to catch up when you're gone for the weekend. Sorry if some of these comments seem old:
Curt and Willie - Thanks for the advice about weathering. I'll get into it someday, I'm sure - but not for a while yet. And, yeah, I've got knee pads as well as the long-handled tool to scrape carpet, glue, etc. Helps not to have to be on my knees too much.

Sherrel - studded wheels I could see, but chains ? ? :)

Terry - your comments about not needing a "like" button on this website - that's why even a newbie like me can feel comfortable here, even asking dumb questions that you've heard a thousand times before. Hope you survived the snowstorm of 2017!! And thanks for catching us up on Eric.

Eric - Good to hear from you. We are all praying for you as you go through this process.

Good to catch up on everyone. Talk with ya more later.
Johnny

Good morning. We're in the tropics this morning with the temp at plus 40 degrees. Time to get out the shorts.

Eric - Best of luck to you. We're all pulling for you. Hope you can put up with the procedures in good spirits.

Terry - glad to hear that you were able to get some trailers moved before the weather set in. Must have been fun.

Willie - You could always get a small stool. Grin.gif I sure am glad that we are finally done with renovations. Two summer with limited time for traveling was a bummer.

Toot and Garry - It wasn't really too bad except for the fact that the RS-3 I had running the main line was so quite that at times it was a job trying to locate it to clear the main line for it. Here is the local waiting for the main line to clear. Toot, too many locomotives would require major modifications to make room for decoders, let alone speakers. I am still quite happy running DC. No need to shell out a lot of $$$ and modify close to 40 locomotives.

Johnny - 548.gif You now qualify for the Geratol for lunch bunch.

Got to get some work done so I'll catch you later.

Good morning fellers. 7° start here in Charleston,WV. Installed the new motor in my Blue Box SD40. By itself it runs really good! I adjusted the wheels to spec and it runs like a Swiss watch. Only draw back is the miniatronics bulbs. They put an extreme amount of voltage draw on an already large draw. Only draw back. I suppose I can run it without them connected until I get some actual bulbs or LEDs with less voltage draw on them. I had shot a video of all three of my running blue box locomotives. However it was too large of a video to post anywhere from my phone. That being said I took some pics of my RTR locomotives from my session yesterday.
