Is anyone else still using Win7 having this problem with updates? My wife is still using W7 on her computer and has been able to access the W7 updates through the start panel>All Programs>Windows Updates, which still brings up W10 as the first "choice", but has a link "Show all available updates". Clicking that brings up the available W7 ones (at the moment, 20 to choose from), tick the wanted ones (all in this case) and then the OK button. This has worked several times previously, until now, when it just returns to the W10 update. Have tried just picking one to see if that will work, but same result.
Go here, and download and run this file: http://www.ghacks.net/2015/06/10/i-...s-upgrade-notifications-from-windows-7-and-8/

Then try running Windows update again.

Evening Gents,
Well I didn't put in a full 8 hours. 6 minus 1/2 for lunch. I did manage to get all the paper stripped off the kitchen. Tomorrow I'll tackle the vinyl coated paper in the bathroom.
This guy is quite the character. He carries a firearm on his side at all times - even while we're working inside his house.
He is a gun-nut of the 1st order. Of course he had to show them off during a break.
He handed me "my favorite gun to shoot". None other than the .50 caliber Desert Eagle. Way too big of a grip for me. I'd be afraid to fire it for fear of knocking myself slap out including skull fracture or at least breaking my wrists. Gods what a beast of a hand gun!! More like a "hand-cannon" if you ask me.

And he loves telling stories!! I don't mind story telling and stuff. But when I've got something to do, I want to get it done - regardless if I'm on someone else's clock. I suppose it's a matter of getting to know each other and that's all fine. He did ask I minded that he talked while we worked and if it did to say so. I said it didn't matter to me because when I get busy I probably won't be listening to you or the radio.

So far it's all good. Day 2 will start earlier in the morning. He says he's up around 0400 about every day. If I find myself waking up at those kind of hours again, I may suggest we start working then. Only problem with that is we'd both probably be super wasted by noon and I'd be stuck there. I'm too interested in either of those options.

He did mention a couple of times if we work out doing good, he could keep me busy for a really long time. From I could tell just today in a couple hours, this guy has me smoked as far construction and remodeling goes. But like my old boss Taso told me the other day, it's not that he can't do the work, he's just has a ton of it. And he's right about that.
I don't know if the 2 of us can redo 3k sq ft house by early April.

OH. And you motor-heads would LOOOVE his black Jeep Rubicon with the lift kit, serious wheel and tire package. He also carries his AR-10 in the back seat along with his 2 dogs, Bently and Sebastian.

And so will all this be YET another in the book many are calling "Big E's Adventures In Life".

LASM, as long as you don't hear a conductor saying "Willoughby, next stop Willoughby!" I think everything will be fine.

If you do, don't get out of your seat. I believe that Grizzly Flats Depot pre dates Willoughby by a few years.

L&S: The railroad I am building is based on prototype lines that remained unchanged from around 1926 through 1978. Then everything changed and in 2015 it's hard to recognize anything from the past. So pretty much anything based on the 50s would still be appropriate through the 70s and 80s.

WJLI26- I also enjoyed my trip to the museum in Roanoke several years ago.

.

Curt: I still have to make that trip to the museum, Roanoke is the perfect halfway point stopover on the drive from TN to NJ. Even though we were on a schedule, I managed to catch a Stack train on the former N&W line between Roanoke and Bristol (VA), and ran into a Nashville & Eastern crew at the I40 rest stop near Buffalo Valley. Nearby, there is an interesting combination of railroad bridges over the Caney Fork (River), on the Former Tennessee Central. Further East on I 40 is the Clinch River power generating complex, and the stone quarry at Crab Orchard, which does a substantial rail business and uses old GE locomotives to drill the quarry. Further along on the PA Turnpike, we crossed the Susquehanna, and both the NS port Road Line to Enola, and the Amtrak Keystone line tracks to Harrisburg. BTW, I understand they have a nice museum along the old TC in Nashville. another future stop. One thing I have learned from these Road trips, is that both Tennessee and Virginia are very large states, as is North Carolina.

I just popped in to say I hope everyone is enjoying the holidays and have a good night everybody!

Louis: We had an enjoyable Christmas with my oldest son and DIL, as well as our two grandchildren. I expect that you are enjoying your Christmas / New Year / Epiphany also. Just remember to take care of your self and don't allow your health issues to get out of hand.

"Hail to the Redskins". Next year will be a better year for the Ravens. Is it too early to start being hopeful for the Orioles?

I had a bit of a surprise last night. I backed my two B&O Teakettles coupled together with a Central Valley ventilated box car and the Old Mantua Bobber Caboose through the temporarily spiked down curved turnout without problem and then ran it forward onto a 3' length of temporary siding which happens to be on the upper main line and stopped the train and then pushed the reversing button on the hand throttle but the the two loco's didn't move so I figured they needed more power to get going, which was alright as I had something else to take care of. But, the thought did flash through my mind, 'watch when I get back to the layout the train will probably have moved' as I hadn't depleted all the power as I usually do ! The hand throttle does have built in momentum but I didn't think anything would happen. Keep in mind the tracks are alll elevated about 9" above the lower main line area and there are a total of 11 switches, 10 I made and one Atlas leading to a hidden storage area, this train would have to pass through if it were to start off backwards and wind up at the bottom. It won't happen I told myself and left to take care of whatever needed attending to probably adding more wood on the fire and mabe collecting more wood too? Well when I got back out to the layout and looked where I had left the little train parked it wasn't there!? I had to look several times and couldn't find it until I followed the main line down to curve that goes around Amalgamate Hill and there coupled to 4 other box cars was the little train from above. I almost couldn't believe it. It slowly backed up over about 60' of track like the little engineers had everything under control.

Willie: It was rather surprising to me to find out that what I thought was not level or even actually was, why the outside stock rail became raised up is beyond me as I'm careful not to attempt to flex my switches once soldered together other than making adjustments and maybe that caused the problem?

Sherrel: Glad you liked my description of my problems, I guess a you have hand laid track yourself it caught your attention. Like your Christmas greeting caught my attention! Yow-LoL

Joe: Glad you had a good trip.

Garry: I hope you and Chelly also have an enjoyable and safe trip.

Good morning. It's foggy and 52. We are under a dense fog warning, area flood advisory, flash flood watch, and a couple of other things I can't remember off the top of my head. I'm glad we live on the side of a hill. Our neighbors at the bottom of the hill have their yards flooded up to the back of their houses. They're talking about combining their resources, and building an ark...

Boris that is great to hear you had a fun Christmas, thank you for sharing that!

We are enjoying the holidays immensely.

I've yet to finish my O gauge Christmas layout in my basement/train room/play room/TV room/sports bar (without the alcohol), but I am not letting that hinder my Christmas in any way. By Christmas Eve the Nativity was up, trains were running on the O gauge layout and those are the most important things.

My daughter and youngest grandson decorated the little Christmas tree for the O gauge layout Sunday evening. Normally my grandson does it by himself after I layout the ornaments for him, but I was not feeling up to doing that yet. My daughter, bless her heart suggested she could do it. She ended up having to do most of the decorating because my boys almost always play their Moms into doing the work. On the bright side the little tree never looked so fancy, but it can never be better then the first year my grandson did it by himself.

I still have accessories to wire and other things to display, but I am still making progress on this Christmas's O gauge layout. I hope to have it done by the Epiphany.

I will take care of myself, thank you for your concern. I'm not waiting to see if things improve, I'm working to improve them! I'm drinking more water and walking 2-4 times a day, rain or shine. My health has stabilized and I am beginning to improve, the tide has turned. I am mostly just tired from walking but happy I can walk. I'm more sore then ever from a bad back, gout and arthritis without any anti-inflammatory medications, they are hard on the kidneys. When the pain builds I remind myself how lucky I am to be alive to feel the pain.

I go back to the specialist in march and I am determined to do my best to show improvement. I will be on the baseball field with my boys again this spring. Maybe even less active then ever before, but I will be there, they will hear my booming voice and natural whistle encouraging and instructing how to do their best.

It's never to early to be bird watching! They will be competitive again, in Buck we trust!

The Redskins have a chance to play in Super Bowl 50, what more can you ask for in late December?

The Ravens beat the Steelers TWICE, maybe knocking them out of the playoffs, GO JETS!!!! This was a good season in my mind.

Some as every year, my hope and expectations for the new year in all aspects are GREAT!!!

Good morning and MERRY CHRISTMAS Everybody!

For me its Christmas through January 6th. I keep the Christmas lights on and the white candles in the advent candle holder every day until then.

46 with fog and 96% humidity in southeast Baltimore.

Crazy weather, but the natural gas bill looks great!

As soon as I become smart enough to get my pictures off of my new smart phone I will share them. If not I will dust off my camera and take some pictures to share before putting my Christmas stuff away.

Enjoy the holidays everybody!

Good Morning All. Cloudy and 39 degrees here in North Central Texas this morning. We'll warm up to the lower 50's today.
борис циник - If you think those three states are big, then you should come to Texas some day. It's a 12 hour drive from east to west, over 800 miles. Over 500 of those miles are on an Interstate with a speed limit of 80-85 mph. Eric would like that road!
Louis - Continued good luck on the recovery. I have found that walking is one of the most therapeutic things that one can do. I walk between 1 and 1 1/2 miles every day unless it's raining. Here that can mean the temperatures can range from 10 - 110 degrees. When it's real nice out, I will walk to my mailbox, a 2 1/4 mile round trip. Lots of water does wonders as well, flushes toxins right on through.
Eric - Glad to hear the job is working out, at least for now. 4:00 am isn't too bad. I still get up about that time even though I retired 6 months ago. No alarm clock needed as I did it for over 40 years!
CS3 -
Been doing some good research on some ideas for painting my track to more a less cut down on the appearance of it being code 100 rail. Not to mention it has black ties which I don't see any of that anywhere in the real world.
I also use code 100 as that is what I started with 30+ years ago and I have a lot of it. When I paint track I use a rattle can of Model Master "Light Earth" on everything. Then I go back and use various shades of Polly S brown colors to highlight individual ties. I will also "dry-brush" some of the rail with black or brown colors so it all doesn't look the same. Then I ballast.

Things haven't dried out here yet from the weekend rains, so activity today will be mostly indoors. In the train shed I am mainly tying up loose ends on several projects that I have been working on for the last few weeks. Adding figures to sidewalks, drivers in vehicles, weathering freight cars. adding details to structures, etc. I even got out the ground cover yesterday and spread about 15 sq. in. Of course I have been doing some switching as well.

Willie

Good morning. 12 degrees this morning and the snow finally stopped (for the time being).

Louis - You do take Christmas to a new level. Thanks for the photos.

Sure hope everyone made it through the wicked weather that the country has had over the past few days.

Here's mo photo for the day. A couple of window shoppers looking at the goodies in the store.

Morning gents.
I didn't sleep worth a hoot last night and almost had a notion to call Larry around 0300 to come get me.
He'll be along in about 30 minutes by 0900 local time.
It's raining like a busted sieve here already. Flash flood warning are all about. Larry has a minor creek in his back yard - all 1.9 acres. (pretty up-scale neighborhood).
More wall-paper stripping in order for today I suppose. I hate pulling toilet tanks!!!!

Hi guys! COLD and three inches of crushed ice all over the place! Just touching down to say Happy New Year!

Haven't run a train in three days and almost ready to get back to it!

I'm going to refuel with some hot breakfast and re-arm with smokes and off I go to the east side to visit my good bro who I have not seen in a long time, if I can get his shut-in azz to go outside I may drag him back here and show him the layout.

Thanks again for all the excellent advice this year. The forum has made a fun thing much more so. Saved me time and moola and frustration!

"Hail" to the 'hale' fellows, well met.

LOVE to all that you love out there and ENJOY the beginning of the new year!

Good Morning Guys,

17 and cloudy. Nothing but clouds for the month of December, I think we had 4 days with some sunshine. I am very thankful, however, that none of that severe weather or flooding came our way. Very thankful.

Big E--nice to hear you are keeping busy!!

Chet--another nice photo!

Louis--Hope your new "smart" phone is easy to figure out!

Well when I got back out to the layout and looked where I had left the little train parked it wasn't there!? Sounds like the twilight zone.

Good morning guys. Soaking up some sunshine this morning. The Pepsi shop is being hectic as we are trying to stay caught up with everything while having back to back short weeks. Doesn't help the regional manager has planted his roots at our terminal for a couple of days. But at the end of the day I'm still getting paid and of course I have my trains.

Good morning. 45° and "murky" this morning. Possibly going to 52°.

Willie: Yeah, I know Texas is BIG, like in the song Miles and Miles of Texas. Texas looks big on the map too. Virginia, NC and Tennessee are endless, but don't look that big on the map. Jersey, on the other hand, is densely populated, but not all that big size wise. Still takes forever to drive through, but for other reasons. FWIW, I would like to drive cross country some day, I-40 or I-10?, but not in the near term.

Chet: Another nice photo / scene.

Louis: Lovely tree. I did enjoy watching the highlights of the Ravens - Steelers game. I saw some of the Jets game at a lunch - fuel stop in TN.

CS3: You are making great progress on your layout. Willie has a good idea for your black tie problem.

Last night late, I placed some track on the peninsula where the 1926 era Ford Assembly Plant will be located. Uni-track doesn't align as well as normal track, so the #4 switches will be replaced by #5s, in the finished product. The prototype plant -once managed by Lee Iaccoca - was built to '20s standards, ie: tight curves 50' DD boxes, and frames cars etc. One of the reasons Ford closed the plant in 1959, was the expense of upgrading the facility to utilize the new high cubes and multi-levels coming into use. (BTW: the plant was built on the site of a ship yard and was later used by Reynolds Metals, to make Aluminum wire for use in housing etc. They even built a 110' tall tower to aid in the process. Once Aluminum wire lost favor, the plant closed). Today it's a multi use industrial center, remaining tracks still follow the original alignment.
