Good afternoon Track Gang,
Hi Flo & Francine, Good to have the place open on such cold morning. At about 9:00 Am, when I looked at my indoor thermometer on the back porch it read 38 °F so the outside temp must have been about 28 °F! When I went outside and looked at my car it had large drops of water frozen on the hood and elsewhere with lots of frost to prove it was cold. Sure enough according to WW the low was 26 °F!
Their site now at 12:25 PM [Right all year round] or 12:55 Pm says:
Partly Cloudy 44.4 °F/ Feels Like 44 °F;
Winds are from West at 2.7 mph;
Today is forecast to be nearly the same temperature as yesterday.
Today
High 46 | Low 26 °F
0% Chance of Precip.
Yesterday
High 47.7 | Low 33.8 °F
Precip. 0.3 in (Radar Loop)

About the double post, which I deleted once I saw it, I don't recall seeing it yesterday evening when I posted so I don't know what happened ? ?

I never did get too much done on the layout yesterday and today so far I've been busy getting my fireplace going to produce some heat. Actually
it's time to check it again. Yep, move the logs around a bit.

Good evening ...

Chet ... The super market looks super with interior and all.

Curt .... I like the FM Switcher at the coal trestle.

David ... Your Tea Kettle looks like a fun engine to work with.

Karl ... Happy birthday to your other half. I bet you two are "Bonded" by now. ;)

Chessie .... Your prgress with the new layout is impressive.

.......

After hearing all the advertisements, I'm thinking of getting a life alert bracelet. I will be alerted promptly if I get a life ! :D

Garry: Thanks, it's a little Loco brought out by Life Like and weighted fairly well too as well as having a large Can motor to it and has fairly good slow speed operation too. The engine was first brought out by the Sylvan-Line many years back, if I remember correctly? I still have the original metal Tea Kettle and the box it came in but I couldn't seem to locate the box for it for some reason?

As far as attaching a front coupler, I think I'm just going to bend a piece of heavy brass stock into semi-stair step as the coupler needs to be below the height of the beam supporting the cow catcher. I'll post a shot or two when I finish it. I also need to install a slight shim under the shank of the rear coupler to support it a bit more.

As far as the Air Pump I'm not even sure this loco actually had one but assume it did?

Good morning, 30 and light snow. Cloudy again, and the ground is still mostly green/brown (as opposed to white, which is usually the case.)

Lots of nice photos posted yesterday ( and today)!!

by the way, what is CRS?

Say David: Thanks your comment about the pictures. Glad to hear there was a let-up in the Snow, that's what it feels like it might do here as it 36*

46 and clear .. Expected high today around 66.
We had close to 1/2 inch of rain last evening .. That makes almost ONE inch total this month!

Chet. Your photos just get better all the time. The old Athern is a great looking machine - the paint/decal work is awesome!

David. Great looking little loco and track work.

Garry. Love the dozer, grader, and Diamond T, or Rio dump truck. Reminds me of growing up back home.

Sherrel: Thanks, for your comment, that shot did come out very good.

Well. A crappy day. 30 and sleet/ice/rain and very windy!! Plan today was to install a countertop so I can invoice the client for the final payment on a kitchen remodel. Go out to the truck. Battery decided this would be a perfect time to take a dump. Put the charger on it , got truck started. Decided not to chance the 20 mile trip into town for a new one, I'll deal with it tomorrow. Wife said the roads suck anyway. I have a feeling when I go out later it's not gonna start. Plus I'm pretty much soaked. Oh, well.

Down to the train room I guess. Sometimes it's good to be the boss.

Those are some great photos, guys!!

Hang in there, NG! It don't mean nothing as my older brother says.

How's the eye today ,E?

Sorry 'bout yer cowboys, Willie. I thought Dez was really gonna torch our secondary.

See you later!!

Terry in NW Wisconsin

Say Terry in Wis.: Thanks for your comment, your shot look very good too!

Karl ... Happy birthday to your other half. I bet you two are "Bonded" by now. ;)

Ugggg,,groan,,,,thud  Garry, thanks, I passed your comment along, got a little giggle! We went to Outback for dinner,,,,Bloomin Onion, Ribs and cheesecake......tummy was really happy afterward!

Curt, nice FM switcher, is that a Walthers model?

Chet, That snow gives me a chill lookin at it! I'm still basking in the El Nino here, instead of snow we have been enjoying temps in the 50s and 60s, Saturday we were at 72! Early predictions call for Christmas day to be 68 and sunny! ;)

SWMBO sez its time for the sandman,,,,cya all tomorrow!

You realize that we will pay dearly for that come February. But since I'm driving to Tennessee for Christmas, I'll take it. I-81 ain't fun when it's snowin'.

Good Morning All. It's clear and 52 degrees here in North Central Texas. Feels colder when I stepped out a little while ago. Right now there's a big-a$$ possum on the back porch staring at me through the back door. Undoubtedly waiting for me to feed the cats. He'll go away soon and the cats will have to wait or go catch rodents. I could go back out and chase him, but I am not really dressed for that. Didn't do much on the layout yesterday, just ran trains. Today is the 25 mile trek to the Kroger store with the wife (and wherever else she desires), so that will take 3+ hours. At least I'll replenish the beer fridge supply chain.
Willie

Good morning all. Starting off at 23 degrees this morning with about 4 to 6 more inches of snow over night. Getting too old for this c**p.

Garry - Nice caboose photo.

Did enjoy a phone call with Eric last evening after moving snow around.

Being I'm talking about snow, here's a photo of the North Coast Limited climbing up Homestake Pass just east of Butte, MT.

Good morning, we have 22 and cloudy. Nothing but clouds for a couple weeks now. Good model railroading weather, though.

I didn't realize he was only 6 weeks older than me.
And he died 5 days after I joined the forum.

It was cool and foggy this morning, and a tow boat fog horn was being sounded. ... An unwanted alarm clock. .... Sun is breakingthrough now. Will be sunny rest of the day.

Any takers on bets for the landlord showing up to do the door replacement?
He said he'd be here around 1000 [today].
He's notoriously late for everything so I say he won't be here until around noon - if at all today.
Then I'll bet the door doesn't get finished by dark leaving me with a semi-open wall.
Of course he won't be off until the weekend so it won't get finished until then.

I REALLY hope I'm wrong but unfortunately I have well over 8 years experience with him.

Ran some ops this morning. Found out my hoppers do not like my gp38. Derailed through the switches every time. Put my sd7 up front and no derailments...how in the world? Guess my gp38 will go into retirement.

Do you have body mounted couplers on the hoppers or body mounted couplers?

All of mine are body mounted. Just not getting why they derail with my gp38 but not my sd7. The gp38 has great movement of the coupler in the pocket. Maybe too much? I don't know its a mystery to me.

Yup same thing with my gp35 as well. Mind you this is one of the new Athearn not a blue box. Here's a shot of my problem spot. Which may lead me to redo this section of my layout as the direction Chang may be what is causing my derails to occur.

It's one of those things where I changed what worked to something new and now issues. If it ain't broke don't fix it I guess you can say.
