That's a very well detailed loader, much better than the Norscot. I got a couple of Trucks'n'Stuff Caterpillar loaders from Kleins some time ago to compare 'cause they were quite a bit cheaper, also had much better detail, but the plastic handrails etc were so brittle, you only looked at them sideways and they broke. A real disappointment.

Oh.........and the grass is good too :o

Thanks Toot! I back-dated the loader by leaving off the wheel covers. Also srayed it in gray primer before assembling it. Sorry to hear about your unfortunate experience with the TrucksNStuff model, I don't have any of their stuff or Norscot's because its all too modern for my era (1970).

The reason I'm so pumped-up about the grass is because it was a large part of my B&O train-chasing experiences during my teen years - it was everywhere:

... Ken in Md - Congratulations on the photo. Always nice to get some recognition. The static grass looks good as well. Now onto the layout. ...
Thank you Willie, guess I'll start with the areas between my yard tracks.

Terry - guess the parts vendor neglected to mention that the pump was N scale?:p Also BTDT with my cell phone when I was still in charge of my department's databases. I had to agree to the emergency availability as a precondition for getting that job. But I never accepted a company-issued cellphone because that would've had even more strings attached...

MOH just reminded me we're suppose to be at Mass in 15 minutes...I'm outta here!

Good Morning gang!

43° and sunny right now, supposed to get a "wintry mix" this evening. I've now recovered from last night's merriment, so its back to cutting ceiling tile for today!.

Ken Grass looks good, can't wait for the personal inspection!

L8ter gang, SWMBO is crackin the whip!

Good morning, Coffee Shop Patrons !

Sherrel and Ken (inMD) .... Thanks for the comments on my ATSF FM's .... They are favorite of mine, but I rarely run them.

Ken ... I like the Kibri loader and the static grass. I should try the grass. It should work well in my situation because I already get static from my Main Squeeze. ... LOL

Williw .... have fun working on the older Athearn models.

I am back to working on bridges to connect the upper level of my layout extension to the rest of the layout. If I stay at it, I may possibly complete the project.

Good morning Everybody.

No time to try to catch up, I just want to check in ;)

35 and gray out there! Excellent pics guys!

Being static and liking grass (haw) it's a natural choice plus the tall weeds are one of my favorite memories of days along the right of way hunting rabbits with a wrist rocket and half inch ball bearings. We were probably a major contributor to covered auto transport cars, those shiny new windows were more attractive and easier to hit than rabbits!

Scenery may appear much sooner than anticipated, building kits are arriving in the mail, unmarked but they make a distinctive sound when gently shaken and nobody else is planning any modeling around here. It is not Lego's for the boy, they make a different sound.

I might have to shoot some videos, had em running ALL day until I got tired and all went swell! Four or five ten car or more trains all running together is hypnotic. The "flow" of the horseshoe REALLY can grab you and a cigarette burned to my fingers as I watched! OW! LOL!

She's noisy so I'll have some more work for her yet but overall I'm pleased with it.

So, this morning I toddled downstairs to the basement, climbed in the wife's car, turned the key, and-- Rrr.......Rrrrr....Rrr-rrr-rrrrrrr- clickclickclick....
Sigh...
Found a replacement battery on sale at Wally World for less than $50, so I clicked "order now". 7 hours later, the order is still "processing". I drove down there, walked in the door, walked up to the battery rack, picked up the battery, and plopped it on the counter. "I ordered this online, and I'm here to pick it up!"
Well, that didn't work. I had to go stand in line at the Online Pickup counter, and get them to give me a slip of paper, and a battery, then carry it through the store back to the auto center. "Here's my old battery. I need a refund for the $12 core charge". And then even more chaos ensued when they realized that the computer had combined the price of the battery with the core charge and sales and environmental fees, all into one amount, and they couldn't just refund the fee. 30 minutes later, the manager threw his hands in the air, and handed me the $12 in cash.

Online ordering is a great time and frustration saver.

Back from PA trip. I stopped in at the Timonium trains show. Bought an MTH -9 locomotive in Norfolk and Southern black with sound. I want to mix in some foreign power to my road now. Got home and opened the box and it wasn't the road name that was on the box. Turns out the dealer lives just 20 miles from me so he will pull another one from his stock and I'll meet up with him this week and swap.

Afternoon All,

Ran my MOW train for awhile today then parked it on a siding. We decorated the inside of the house today. We decorate early and take everything down within a day or two of Christmas. MOH believes it's bad luck to keep it up over New Years. Tomorrow is grocery time.

Justin- Congrats on the repairs and successful running of your loco.

Chet- Very nice job on the box cars and city street.

Garry- Awesome bridge picture. The FM diesels are neat too.

Sherrel- Nice train prints. I'm kinda glad there was no Pennsy art since I have no more places to hang it in the train room.

Ken- Nice job on the static grass.

Terry- I hate it when something like that happens to me.

NG- I'm glad your RR is running smoothly.

Here is my work train in the morning mist, i.e. fingerprint on lens

I hope everyone has a good night.

New foreign power on the D&J Railroad. It's DCC ready but I haven't put a decoder in it yet and do some weathering. I ordered this one from MB Klien and it arrived yesterday and sat on my front porch till I got home today. I wasn't supposed to be delivered until tomorrow.

Nice looking trestles guys! I likee!

EEEK! Looked out and it is in fact snowing! The Boy is very pleased, they might have snow on Mt Brighton in time for skiing practice, he is in the Downhill again this year up at the Special Olympics in Traverse City and is already getting pumped for it! That hill up there ain't no joke! They don't put em down no "baby" runs neither! Recently much debate has resulted in using the exact same gate size and spacing the "pro's" use! He's a typical, clumsy teenager, but the transformation on the skii's is amazing! I saw a MAN coming down the mountain last year! FREAKED me right out and made me proud as heck at the same time!

I won't miss it for nothing, the opening ceremonies are a MUST see! Hats off to the WERTZ WARRIORS who raise the majority of the money with a pledge ride through Michigan every year on snowmobiles! THANKS GUYS!

Mmm. "Stick-no-stick" is coming, down the ground is still not frozen, this snow will not be here long.

I found out a couple of weeks ago at the club that they've got a new 120' (think that's what they said) turntable to replace the small one at the end of the main yard, because there's now 6 Big Boys and other long steamers in the club. This is going to entail an extension to the layout to accommodate it and it's at the end that has the spiral in it. This is also the end that has the 2 tunnels that pass beneath that spiral and match it's curves. One of those tunnels works OK, rarely has derailments within, but they require crawling underneath to get to. The 2nd (and outer) tunnel is under the outer, lowest track of the spiral and access to that is near impossible. To get that tunnel's track to clear that tight space a dip was necessary, with predictable results, any rolling stock over 50' is risky.

I've been pushing for a slight extension to the layout's width on the opposite side of the "blob" to where this turntable is going to bring an alternative exposed track around the end for some time. I've been told to present a proposal. Oooooh yes :D:cool:.

I pulled a decoder out of a brass C630 loco that has been in the display cabinet for the past 3 years and installed it in the NS Dash 9. Now the foreign power is in service with a priority container train.
