Good morning Everybody!

King Toot I was awake at 4am, a bit late for me. I got the turkey carcass picked clean and simmering in water on the stove to make "Pop's turkey butt soup" My boys love it!

I slept great, but the snoring was not from me. I sleep as quite as a new born baby. Don't tell my wife I said this, but she can really saw some wood! It looks hilarious to see such a sound come from a sweet little Angel. The good news is I could sleep through a nuclear war if I was expecting it. The only sounds that wake me up are the words "dad or poppy" coming from my kids or grandsons. or any unusual sounds in the house.

The good news is, rail traffic has not been affected and there's no chance of crews falling asleep. Another benefit, no-one has complained about the noise that the trains make.

I have some pictures I found on Facebook my kids took from yesterday. I know my klara took a picture of my perfectly cooked Turkey, but I can't find it.

A shot of this before I ate and I indulged and had another after I ate. Not to mention the one I had before carving the turkey.

A few of our pies, the bottom left is a made from scratch apple pie, my breakfast! I can't take any credit for that other than buying the perfect apples to make a pie with. We also had Mince meat pie, I still don't get the name, there is no meat, but it's my Mom's favorite. We also had another apple pie and another of my favorites blueberry pie. My Hungarian son still calls pie; cake.

I have to tell you about my Mom, I love the crazy old girl, thank you God for giving me the opportunity to have such a great relationship with her, better late than never! Another example of "do your best and let God take care of the rest"

It's a bit long but hang with me. A few years ago, many now I guess. My sister's family came to eat Thanksgiving with us. They are Muslims so I had to alter my sauerkraut. I had always cooked it with bacon and no way was I using turkey bacon! Instead I used beef polish kielbasa. Like always when I do something nice for others God rewards me some how. The reward is; I love my sauerkraut with beef polish kielbasa!!! That is the new thanksgiving standard for me now!

As I was dishing up my Mom's serving of sauerkraut I said to my grumpy, but loveable Mom "I read in the paper that polish kielbasa and sauerkraut is a Baltimore tradition, did you know that?" Her answer, in her usual coarse way "we are not polish!" I almost laughed, but instead I just let it go. Thinking to myself "that's my Mom" :) She ended up having 3 servings of sauerkraut before dinner was over :)

Another example of my Mom being my Mom; We were all walking her out to my son's car carrying all the single serving left over meals my wife packaged for her and I said to her "How do you like my Christmas lights?" her reply "with all the flashing lights it looks like a bar!" :) I said "I know, but I like colorful and flashing Christmas lights" She said it don't matter, you live in Dundalk anyway" :)

As my Mom got into my son's car rode away with my son I said "that's my Mom" we all laughed like crazy. My life long friend Patrick knows my Mom as do my wife and kids. She does not mean to be offensive, it's just how she is and I love her just how she is, but it is funny. :) For those of you unfamiliar with Baltimore; Dundalk is an old working class neighborhood originally Irish immigrants, later polish immigrants and now every kind of working class people, I love it here.

My Mom is now 84 years old and still going strong, I am blessed to have her with me. She is no different today than I have ever known her to be. Only difference now is she no longer goes out on the town, other than shopping with me. She may not have been the best Mom or even Grand Mother, but she ranks at the top as Great Grand Mom, she loves my boys and they love her!

This picture does not show it, but the 4 signs in the windows are battery operated automatic LED flashing displays. Now and forever known as my "bar" lights. :)

You saved the day there with that last pic Louis, proves there are at least 2 good looking people in your family:p Looks like you are still the only one up yet.

Well... it's shutting down time for me, have a shower, up (hopefully) early, club day tomorrow, maybe find out what movement there has been for at least one more DCC day in the month and when I might get a key to the clubhouse.

Good morning, and happy Black Friday. It's mostly clear and 44.

Ken, about the cars... Is there anything that says there couldn't have been a second purchase of them at another time, which would account for differences in appearance?

As for knowing when I'm legal, I consumed roughly 4 ounces of alcohol over the course of the afternoon. The body converts alcohol to sugar at a rate of one ounce per hour. So, in order to be "legal", I waited 3 and a half hours from when I started rationalizing someone's behavior before leaving for home.

Oh, MAN, that's some good coffee! Hit me one more time!

I'm "hung down, brung down, and all kinds of mean, nasty things" but at least I'm not on the "Group W" bench! Had to listen to THAT song AGAIN, again, again... Hope everyone had as good a day as we did! The food was good and the company better! Trains ran like they was BORN to do, nobody got TOO out of control and everybody made it home safely! Success!

Good Morning All. 50° and overcast today. Had a wonderful Thanksgiving at my sister's house yesterday, I hope everyone else had a good one too. Lots of food, beer and good company.Needless to say, I didn't get into the train shed at all. I will make up for it today. Wife is headed to town today, to do things other than shop, since there won't be a soul at the library or the other places that she is going to visit.

Toot - Sorry the noise disturbed you! You all could celebrate as well, even the Canadians do. It wouldn't be a bother if you had crocodile or kangaroo instead of turkey. I've been up for a while, but it took a long time to go through all of Louis's pictures. LOL
Justin - Yup!!! The masking tape is the way to go on those steps. They turned out very well. Don't be afraid of the dry-brushing, if they don't look good, simply re-paint and do it over. Here is something that I copied from a post on the Internet many years ago. It wasn't credited to anyone. Look at Rule 17:
Model Railroad Rules to Live By

1. The object of this hobby is to have fun.
2. Buy some freight and passenger cars to go with your gross of engines.
3. Never ever tell a fellow modeler your scale is better then his.
4. At some point stop planning and start building the layout.
5. Never put perfection in front of running the trains.
6. Pay close attention to the track work it can kill the fun.
7. Meet and bring your favorite engine, and have your friends bring their favorite engines.
8. Have a plan, and an era, so you don't buy a lot of stuff you don't need.
9. Listen to the critics, and weight their suggestions, and then do what you think is best.
10. Never argue with a rivet counter, you will lose.
11. Good running engines and dependable rolling stock are required to really have fun.
12. You don't have to agree, with your fellow modelers, to be friends
13. Have a spare of all tools, for when you lose the first one.
14. Keep the lubrication supplies handy and use them sometimes.
15. Clean the tracks before the trains stop running.
16. Know your economic, time, and space resources and plan accordingly.
17. In this hobby "do over’s" are a fact of life.
18. If you are a perfectionist, lighten up and cut the other people some slack.
19. If you are not a perfectionist, lighten up and cut them some slack.
20. Never ever forget rule one.

These can be useful to others as well. I have a full page printout posted prominently in the train shed.

Sherrel - Never let a good opportunity go by!!! By the way, my sister lives on a street named "Weems Street".
Phil - Glad that all is going well. Isn't there a teenager in your neighborhood that is willing to look at your computer?
Garry - I know that it was a couple of days ago when you posted the redneck Thanksgiving, I had seen that before but thanks for bringing it back up. I might resemble a couple such as the "paved road" and "ironing board"...LOL I don't name the turkeys, but I used to have a hog we called "Bacon Fat". Kids weren't pleased!
David - Sounds like a bit of progress, continued good luck with the tractor and chainsaw. Be careful. No running bears around here.
Bruce - Congratulations to your Lions. It was also good to hear that the train runs went well.
Ken - Great photo, I don't recall seeing it before.
How can you tell when your blood-alcohol level is "street legal"
I wait until I am not seeing double.
Bob - Glad that you could drop by. I had seen some posts from you off and on for the last half year, now we know why they have been sporadic.

Let me post this now, because Louis has probably posted some more pictures by now. Keep it up by the way, you make up for my lack of pictures!!!
Everyone have a great day except Toot, you have a Good Night!
How 'bout them Cowboys? Ten in a row with a rookie QB!

Willie

The Lions WON??? I had no idea, got caught in a party and never did see the game! LOL! Figures.

I did have an enjoyable time explaining the layout and DCC to a young person who was actually interested in it and we might have another patron at the coffee shop before too long. His folks got a YOOGE basement, I know it is not being used for much and I could see the wheels turning!

I bought this on a whim and it is THE biggest hit when visitors come to the layout!
DSCF4436.jpgI wanted one of those German ones, they are SWEET, (and $$$$) but this is just fine!

Hey, goooood morning guys. I haven't visited the coffee sight in quite some time.
Had a quiet T'day yesterday. Went to my daughter's house for a couple hours then got back home before dark. My night vision is going away and it was a nice day to put some more miles on the new Harley Road Glide. Bought it in late April and have over 17K miles on it now.
I've been putzing with this Kibri kit the past week. Finally finished it up yesterday morning and now fitting it to a flat car. I have several feet of scale size chain to tie it down. I had the scale sized ratchets that are supposed to be linked into the tie down chain but I can't find em now.

I'm working from home today as most of the office team is in Turkey coma right now. I can usually get more done on the schedules without interruptions. One of those things ya need to keep your mind focused on so ya don't forget a piece.
I finished off another Pumpkin pie last night while watching the Redskins game. Good game but disappointing that they lost. Dallas is looking good for the playoffs.

VERY nice! "Scale ratchets"? LOL! I like the LOOK of that low deck flatcar but some of this low stuff is giving me coupler fits and radius trouble! I'm seriously going to be changing everything feasible to truck mount couplers, the stress stays along the rail line and they can take tighter radius, radii, whatever.

The radii/radius on my empire is no less than 48" so even the long rolling stock tracks well and looks good. I shot this video last February to show off some 89' auto parts containers on the layout. TOFC look good on it too. I take all the talgo truck mounted couplers off and body mount them on all these longer cars.

Good morning ...

Terry ... I enjoyed the video of the BLI N&W double header with cool train.
Sherrel ... That is quite a cannon.
D&J ... The crane looks very nice.
Willie .... How well do you follow the rules ? ... Actually, there is some very good advice in the rules.

I'm particularly proud of this piece, I got it in a box lot and I think the string is original, it is strung correctly as far as I can tell.
I saw the flatcar that goes with it at a train show but it was in such bad shape even I could not bring myself to pay 7 bucks for it, I'll "model" one instead.

The "day after", nice and quiet, "frau and kinder" are out and about and it's time for what I like to call "Whispering Thunder" everybody pacing nice and slow, smooth runnings, passing each other at a glacial pace, echelon left, echelon right, very zen.
DSCF4440.jpgJUST how I pictured it!
OH, NO! "Proto" creepin in! I put a couple of buffer cars in my tanker train as "per regulations"! LOL!
