Just got home from work. Stopped off to see a friend who is in the hospital from a relapse from a Brown Recluse spider bite. He got bit a few years ago and this keeps coming back on him. Shakes, fever, dizzy, nausea, palpitating heart. I left his house yesterday afternoon after watching football in his mancave with a few other guys. He seemed fine then, but a hour and half later, he was in the hospital.

DIL's Father got bitten or stung by what they think was a "white tailed spider" while gardening. Only a quite small spider. Virtually destroyed his life, similar symptoms, has had innumerable fake heart attacks, hospitalized many times. Terrible what some insects can do to your body.

Good evening gang!
OMG it has been a Monday! Just as I get to work this morning my cell phone rings. It's SWMBO. Her car wont start! She said she turned the key and the car went click, click, click, click, click. In a moment of frustration I blurt out, "Hey, you got AAA, use it!". It may have been the dumbest, genius thing I've ever said. They can fix it? she queried? They can at least hot shot the car and you can drive it down here. 10 minutes later she calls me to tell me they are on the way, and they can replace the battery if need be too! Long story short, they replaced the battery with a 6 year battery. Then just before lunch I hatched a plan to go to HD to get some 1x8's . Wait a sec, where's my wallet? I retraced my steps, nope, not here. So I spent my lunch hour driving home, finding my wallet under a pile of SWMBO's clothes, then going back to work. Some days I'd rather stay in bed!!

Gonna vacuum the layout now, just seems like a great day for it!

Karl ..... That sounds like a Bad News Monday....... Not to worry. Only the first 5 days after a weekend are the worst.

Ken in VA and Toot ..... My good friend, a model railroader, here had a very bad bite from a brown recluse spider a couple of years ago. He was in the hospital for a long time with a lot of skin falling off. It was horrible.

Just checked the tracking on a small order from Klein's. Passed through a transfer Facility at Sydney Airport early on 23rd, maybe I'll get it tomorrow? We have had northerly winds blowing though, I suppose. Hard on the pidgeons. Should be glad it didn't come through Brisbane, tracking always notes that and follows up on the next notification that it's in Australia (Somewhere).

Good morning, 26° with a heavy frost.
Hey Boris! I hope all is well, we miss you, thanks for checking in.

...Louis - You certainly enjoy holidays to the max. I am a bit of an old "fogey", I don't decorate the outside of the house because no one could see it anyway. Your neighbors must enjoy seeing the changes your front porch goes through from holiday to holiday!

Willie
Willie moving into this little place was a stroke of luck. It's easy to decorate a small front porch. I moved in here to cut expenses at the beginning of my health problems and I have never lived in a happier and more peaceful home since I was 8 years old living with my Nanny and Jack, I have been here over 10 years and to be honest I hate the thought of leaving. I want a bigger place and I will move because my wife is what makes this a happy home and anywhere we go I will be right next to her so I know it will be a happy home.

I;ll be back! lol, LOUIS I like that too!
I like it better when I actually make it back! :)

LOUIS = I failed Christmas lights! With my puffed out hernia and the rain ... just did not feel up to trying to pull them out this weekend. Like a dummy - I should have had them out when it was in the mid 70's earlier in the week.

.
Sherrel you did not fail, you had a rain out. Do what you can and don't worry about the rest. Your health comes first, Christmas will come and it will be great. The manger was not decorated.

Morning Gents, mot mich going on at the moment.

Good to see you E, when your in the hospital not much going on is a good thing!

No worries, I have tried not to touch it at all since that wire came undone, it's on the very end so it might not be too bad. Sounds like the winning option, I know you do good work! I'll clear my PM box!
"Good work" that is an understatement! You have one of the most experienced technicians in the field!!! Terry is qualified to be an engineer with any train manufacturer. Living in North Carolina I am surprised Lionel has not snatched him up!

Good evening gang!

Karl you are looking at it all wrong. The car was easily taken care of and you found the wallet. It could have gone much worse, you had a great day!

No wonder so many people are afraid of spiders! I hope everybody recovers.

Willie In a rush to answer everybody I did not finish my thought. I like the outside of my house to represent the happiness with in. :)

Good morning Everybody!

Supposed to be a rainy day here in the mid-Atlantic, at least it will be warm or so I am told.

I had not seen the weather or heard it on the radio even. I have a smart phone, but I am still not smart enough to use it.

My friend Patrick from Philadelphia sent me a video message, who knew you could do that?! He bought a Lionel Mickey mouse Christmas train set and he wanted me to see it in action under his Christmas tree. It looks fantastic and best of all his youngest daughter (16) loves it! Long story getting longer he called me and told me about the weather.

My Hungarian wife will proudly take her oath to the United States this afternoon at her citizenship ceremony. She is so proud to be an American!

Lots to do so I better get to it!

Have a great day Everybody!

God bless us Everyone!

Louis - a big congrats to your wife! Too bad so many of the people born here in the US don't have that same sense of gratitude!

Good morning guys. Got switched up here. I was supposed to attend an 8:30 meeting at my alternate office. When I checked my emails this morning, the meeting was moved to 9:30. I intended to do some work at home here then go directly to the alternate office but now, I have to go to the main office which means fighting horrible traffic this late in the morning.

Good morning. It's raining and 68.

VA Ken: Having to drive through rush hour is no fun. Luckily, even though I have to drive a fairly long distance at those times, I m driving the opposite direction of most of the commuters. While it's not exactly wide-open spaces, I can look at the rows of stopped cars in the opposing lanes as I motor to work.

Thank you Ken, I read your post to my wife. In a touching and heart felt tone of voice she said "aww that is so nice" and nearly cried with tears of joy, again.

Growing up in communist Hungary she can tell you stories of people disappearing in the middle of the night when the "black car" came. Forced "sharing" of crops and live stock with the Russian Army, even if you only have 1 pig. Surveillance outside of churches to see who comes and goes. It was even worse for her because her family was on the "black list" because many of them participated in the 1956 uprising. Every time her grandmother sees a helicopter she goes to the store to stock up. She say's in Hungarian "you never know when the Russian tanks will come back" I could go on and on.

My wife knows America offers true freedom. Many times when watching the news she has said to me "say something like that in communist Hungary and you will disappear before the sun comes up"

Good Morning Everybody. Clear and 54° with wind gusts of 0 mph(?). That's what Weather Underground is reporting...wind gusts 0 mph! Busy day in the Coffee Shop yesterday.
Well, I did finally make some trees yesterday, 14 of them, all simple Woodland Scenics armatures and ground foam. I had previously painted all of the trunks different shades of brown and gray for good variety of color. Still have about 20 more partials on the workbench that I need to finish before putting the supplies up. Still need 100's more.

Johnny - Benchwork is looking good. It is a good idea to get the backdrop up now and at least paint it blue, even if you don't have details in mind yet. Don't ask why I know this!
Justin - I bet that you're glad that it was such an easy fix.
Curt - Must be something about computers in Central Florida!!!
Ken (D&J) - Wow! Hope that your friend gets well soon.
Karl - Doesn't look like Tuesday is starting any better.
Louis - Congratulations to your wife.

Everyone have an awesome day.

Willie

Good morning, everyone. Just leave the pot, ma'am - and that whole tray of doughnuts!! 44 and partly cloudy here. Yesterday's rain was welcome. Now they say it may be cold enough to snow a few flakes this weekend. Welcome winter, or at least our southwest Missouri version of it.

Got home from work too late to do any benchwork yesterday. After dinner, my wife and I put up the tree and started decorating the house for Christmas. Love this time of year.

All - thanks for your comments on our beginning benchwork. What we have is about a 20X15 space with along-the-walls and peninsulas; a main line of perhaps 80-90 feet all told, with spurs and sidings, an out-and-back empire - nothing like what some of you have. But, hey, it's our (son and SIL) first build and we're just excited about running trains. I've learned tons from all of you - still learning, of course (almost forgot about getting backdrops up in all the excitement!!). Thanks for being a really knowledgeable and patient crowd.

Lloyd - Thanks, I'll check out some of those sites that sell backdrops.

Toot - I've got washers galore, but haven't tried looking for the nuts that fit those adjustable feet. Also, that brass stuff website is cool - did a real fast look-through, they don't have every scale for every item, and the HO scale stuff is pricey, often 2X what the smaller scales cost. But still some very cool stuff there.

Louis - Yes, congrats to your wife. Another proud American - God bless her and you.

Willie - Roger that.

Got to run. Coffee and conversation was good this morning. Will check back later.
Johnny

A blistering 48 and I might have to try to walk around outside for a few minutes today, too cold to scoot but I need some air.

Most excellent! Your wife is not Hungarian any more. (That is not a bad thing, Hungary is way cool and all that...) BUTT! She's an American now!
