Looks great!:)

Good evening gang!

Lawn got knocked out by noon, then a little nap after lunch, about 2 I started working on the layout trying to make the lift bridges bulletproof. 1 bridge is done, the one at the laundry room door . I found I need more PC board to do the other bridge which is the opening to the larger portion of the layout. I tell ya, soldering rail to PC board requires a light tough to keep the gage correct!

Babysteps, babysteps!!!!

I finally did hear from the Western Maryland Historical Society member that is in charge of developing special run cars and decal sets. It turns out they ARE developing a correct decal set for WM steam engines. I was going to have Rail Graphics duplicate a set of rare decals I have (Champ EH-29) but it would cost me roughly $280.00 for the 6 sets I need for my current fleet of naked locos. I'm sure the Society sets will be as good or better than the Champ sets, plus being less expensive. Frankly, I really don't care if they are cheaper, as long as the quality is there.

Patience, patience!!!

Finally, I have been considering moving the hyperspace" track, the one that allows for constant running. Currently the layout ruling grade is a little lest than 1%. Moving this track will jump a short section to 2.5% but it will free up more structure space.

Decisions decisions!!

Troy let me join you in a toast!! 🥃 Congrats!

Time for more tunage.....BBL
I've had the problem of finding decals for WM steam myself, i quess i'm not the only one. The man who runs a shop in Gettysburg gave me decals for diesels and said even their a tad too small, will work on a steam.

Good morning from Iowa. Made it. Even though i normally just fly on the first day without stopping even for picks of trains, i did make a stop toward late evening in Galesburg. Those who are familiar with Granger Railroads, will know that Galesburg is on a former CB&Q mainline. Searching the satellite out of curiosity i found that there is a steam locomotive on display there, among few other railroad equipment. So here it is "Hudson" from the "Q"

Besides the steamer, there are few cars also:

There was also a modern surprise standing on a siding by the station, track geometry train:

Anyway, just finished a quick breakfast and i'll be heading toward Omaha and UP mainline across Nebraska. Later.

Tommy Gilberts shop, I know it well. Where is true that there is decals will work in a pinch. I’m looking for better accuracy. I did find out that a Western Maryland Railway Historical Society Member is actually working on steam. He and I have had a few email conversations. He has some of the artwork done that is yet to find a printer other than Microscale that can reproduce the correct color for the Dulux gold.

Yes Sir, Tommy Gilberts shop. Very well equipped shop and always a pleasure to stop and chat with the owner. While i'm not in the immediate need for decals, i chose to collect some items early.

Good Morning All!

55F @ 51% and a tad chilly. Only to 87F later.

Smoke is gone for the most part although it seems California is sending stuff our way. Unknown if it will bypass us or not.

Burgers: Boy we went to our local place last night. Maria had her soft taco which she said was good as usual. My bacon burger had all the stuff, but the burger was maybe 1/4" thick and did not even come close to the size of the bun. Won't do that again for awhile. I wanted to 'roll our own' of which I can have a 1/2 pound of rare meat that hangs over on the thing. She talked me out of it. Over the years I have put just about everything on hamburger before frying .. Soy, Mayo, Butter, Honey Mustard ... you get the idea. Now days they are just fried in bacon grease almost painted on the pan.

Nissan: Going to order parts this am: Headlight assembly and Left/Right front wheel bearing assemblies. It is growling at slow speeds so the bearing fix should work. I just don't like the thing. I have nothing I can point to saying 'this is why'. If it does not sell, at least it will be fixed and running OkieDokie. I have started to look for another Bronco II as I had one 10 years ago or so and loved it. I missed an 86 Eddie Bauer at an auction we went to couple of weeks ago. Went for $2K just as we were pulling up. Not a scratch or ding, and the interior was in very good condition. Rats. Bronco's are easy to work on, and pretty good MPG and there is NOT a ton of plastic in them. So why not a full size Bronco you are wondering? Have a full size Blazer to play with.

Good morning modelers and those watching the incompetence of the Olympic committee in France. IMO the North and South Korea mixup was done deliberately. But I’m not watching so it’s just from the things I am reading do I know what’s even going on.

It’s supposed to rain this morning and again this evening. With rising humidity this week plus temps in the 90’s the weathering bench and train room will be an inviting place. 3 more days of golf this week and then the events I play slack off until mid-October.

I knew of 1 set of 12 tank cars being delivered direct from Scaletrains besides the ones I personally ordered. Text messages the last couple days add up to 42 cars coming either direct from ST or from modelers. No matter how they get here, I will be happily busy again.

Enjoy your day

Good Morning All. Mostly clear and 74°. Normal summertime temperatures return today, we should see triple digits for the foreseeable future, with overnight lows in the upper 70's. The cooler weather has been a welcome respite from the norm. Chances of rain are 0% for the next ten days.

I started my day with more mowing. It's amazing that grass/weeds are growing without any rain, but the cooler temps are assisting. Cut some more wood, which will be an almost daily chore for the next few months. Then I got my wife off to the airport yesterday and her flight was on time leaving. It was 20 minutes early landing in Pensacola due to the favorable jetstream across the southern Gulf states. I got a real exposure to distracted driving as I got close to the airport, even though the roads are very clearly marked well in advance. Many vehicles cutting across five lanes at the last second without any signals or even a driver looking! Leaving the airport wasn't as bad. She had to use the DFW Regional Airport this time since her flight was on American Airlines, instead of her preference to use Southwest which flies out of Love Field in the center of Dallas. DFW is a really busy airport. It's also hard to navigate unless you are familiar with it's quirks. I learned it back in the 70's when it first opened and wasn't so busy.

Due to the lateness of the time that I returned from the airport, I did not go into the train shed yesterday, hopefully today I can pick up where I left off.

Patrick - Hope that you got the information that you needed at the retirement seminar. My experience only, not a recommendation for anyone since each situation is different: I used an investment/retirement service for over 10 years. I learned a lot over that time. I learned how to navigate through the Social Security and Medicare systems. My returns on the investment side weren't bad, but nothing spectacular. One thing that I did learn, was they like to add fees, for everything. After I actually retired, I axed them and did self-management on investments and I did a whole lot better with returns, every year except 2018. I didn't lose like 2008-2009, but I only gained about 2%. I had the time to look stuff up and invest accordingly. One of the best things that I learned about the investment side, was not to knee-jerk. I might have a bad week occasionally, but if you are invested in the market either directly or through ETF's, they always recover. Last week is a good example. My wife would have jumped ship after we lost $8200 (on paper) on Wednesday, but would have missed the partial recovery on Friday.
Mike - Going back to look at the medal count from time to time? Isn't that like tuning in to the last couple of laps of a NASCAR race???;)
Troy - Congratulations.

Everyone have a great Sunday.

Well, howdy there internet subjects, and those who haven't seen the latest Deadpool vs Wolverine movie.

I'm holding out for the DVD. Makes more sense to spend $20-30 movie fees (with snacks) on the DVD so I can watch whenever I want

As for the book "sales" as free: it started to drift down, but the Sunday email readers are starting to twig it again.

I love that it got a second #1 in another category. Overnight it got to #31 in the Amazon free store. #33 is still great - That's overall in the all the free books currently on Amazon.

Wife still hasn't told me what she wants for lunch. I'm leaning towards Mexican.

I need to order a 14" drip pan for the Kamado. Needs to be a max of 1" high due to me having a "Classic 2" style instead of the newer 3 style with extra height.

Edit: In the last four days, I've given away over 7,000 copies of that ebook through these voluntary promos with other authors. If half of those downloads turn into at least half of the series read (that's $10 profit per reader) - That's $32K in profit. Those numbers might be optimisitic. It will take about a year for that to play out.

Good morning all!

A rainy start to the day has put the mowing on hold. I should of done it yesterday, but took the it will be there tomorrow approach. We will see if it dries up later.

The nice thing about the Olympics for me is, the wife and daughter are in the living room watching volleyball this morning. I get to sneak off downstairs early and sling some more plaster cloth to continue on with mountain building.

Have a great Sunday everyone!

Morning all,

A spot of rain this morning was just enough to make the humidity rose to 2 million, so our temp of 99° later will feel like 109°. We're supposed to be over 100° for the next week and under excessive heat warnings until at least Friday.

Started getting some corn and got the first 2 peppers. I'm hoping they aren't my usual thin walled ones. They do seem heavy for their size and are actually bell pepper shaped. These were starting to change color. I do have some larger ones on the plants, and they are heavier fruited than usual for my gardens.
Is it possible I finally have the garden spot with enough compost to be good? Or did I get lucky with the varieties I planted?

Troy: While i usually wait, there is a theater chain in the county seat (12 miles northeast) that charges $5 for senior tickets (advantage to be in the senior over 60 crowd) Tickets at the big name theaters in Wichita are usually double that price. Granted the seats aren't as comfy, but sometimes you just have to get out of the house.

Good morning, all! Well, the forecasted rain for this morning was a no-show. Sun is starting to peek out. Mosquitos are going to be bad at least until the county starts spraying. We will be celebrating our first great granddaughter's birthday this afternoon. The family will be coming here as our house is the larger of them.

Troy - Congratulations

Trains - Can you believe it? I lost a bag of Mog Pog. Poof gone.

STAY SAFE

Wifey and I will see it at the movies. It's perfect date night material. I'm a big Deadpool fan, wifey likes Wolverine. I may buy the DVD afterward, so I can binge watch the series .
