Good morning all. A cloudy day with sunshine and showers.
A large coffee please, Flo.

Burgers.
I prefer to make my own.

Not a lot going on during the day.
This evening our daughter is visiting. Oh it is lovely to see her, but she has the beautician giving he beauty treatment at our house???
It means a late dinner for us.

Back later.

Good morning to the burger eaters or who prefer something else. Fuddruckers once and don’t really remember it so it would be classified as ok!

Chain burgers:

In and Out burgers in Austin is totally overhyped and to me doesn’t measure up to the single pattie butter burger at any Culver’s. In and Out Burgers by the LAX airport though serves a very good burger. 5 Guys burgers in Middleton, Wi is exceptional but IMO not worth the money. Super fries though. Mooyahs burgers IMO wherever we have had it across the Midwest is a great burger at a better value than 5 Guys, but the fries suck…

Just in the liberal state of Dane County of Wisconsin though I can think of 3 tap houses and a mom and pop diner that serve better burgers than any of the chains and with decent pricing

53f degrees now heading to 80. Zero % chance of rain across So Central and So Eastern Wisconsin today. I should be home around 4 this afternoon. I crave my own house, bed and known noises!

enjoy the day

Morning all,

Day 3 without my brace finds the it clear and 69° with the temp going for a high of 94° once again. Supposed to be in the 100's next week. I can hardly wait.

On a side note, I got some travel guides for Rt. 66. Still planning on making that run sometime. Trying to figure out how to make that sort of run. While there's lots to do and see and eat along the route, not sure I want to do it all, as wife has some mobility issues that make it hard for her to want to get out and see some of them. Our short trip 2 weeks ago had her in the car, except for bathroom stops the whole time. I don't find it fun to go into places when she stays out in the car. I do like to drive though...years as a field tech. Been to 20 of the lower 48 states on service runs, but all before 1999.

Good Morning All. Clear and 70°, as the cooler days continue. Only got up to 87° yesterday, but the pool has warmed up to 84° again.

The weekly grocery trek is today, it's the only stop. My SIL is going to meet me there and hand over the granddog once again for another visit. They're going to Perdido Springs FL for a week. That's between Pensacola and Orange Beach AL. My wife is flying out to Pensacola on Saturday to join them. Just me and the granddog for a while. I'm not sure of the attraction there, as Perdido Bay has both gators and sharks since it can be either fresh water from the river, or salt water from the Gulf.

Nothing unusual about yesterday here, but I did not pick up a chainsaw. I did stack some wood that I had previously cut over the weekend, and I did laundry.

Out in the train shed yesterday, I removed the clamps from the red barn. All but one warp had been fixed. The one that was still left is on the back side, so I am not going to spend any more time on it. I also refreshed some of the ground foam in the area. That barn is in the very first scene that I did on this layout, sometime back in the Spring of 2011, and some of the ground cover had faded. The rest of my time out there was spent on the layout cleaning project. After examining all track for stray parts, I proactively cleaned it, there wasn't much cleaning needed to begin with, and then vacuumed everything. I found no stray parts, just a few ladybug carcasses.
Here is a shot of a train passing that grain elevator, led by a pair of GP60M's and a GP60B sandwiched in between.

I cannot add anything to the discussion about burger places since I don't normally go to any of them; except Whataburger maybe 4 times a year. And I get that without the Tomatoes! Wife and I went to a Fuddruckers about 15 years ago, but it wasn't worthy of a return visit. It closed soon after that. I make my own at home and there can't be anything better IMO. As I have posted before, I have never eaten at a McDonalds in my life.

I just don't really have anything else to post today. Got to get busy and check the available digital coupons for today's grocery trek.
Everyone have a great Thursday.

Well howdy there coconuts, burger lovers, and internet subjects,

It's Troy again...

I typed the magic words this morning.

The End

Here's my celebratory coffee to commemorate the event.

It's a mystery so Scooby seemed appropriate for a mug.

That meddling pixie and her buddies stopped the baddie cold! Did they save the amusement pier? Well you'll have to read the book.

Wife got up early to take her mother to Lutheran Hospital for a routine blood draw prior to mom's upcoming annual visit with one of the docs. TWO HOURS LATER they were done. Wife said it was time waiting to register, time to go through the registration process which was similar to the checkin for in-patient stays at the hospital. Then more waiting.

We get our labs done at Labcorp, for whom the wife works, and we're in and out in under half an hour. Usually about 15 minutes because we get to pre-register. But the one MIL went to is in her network, and is walk-in only...

Wife may write a sternly worded letter. But she had to come back and start work. So we'll see if she has the energy later on.

As for the capacitor, no idea. I was watching the inside guy, not the outside guy. Been using this firm since I moved in, and haven't had an issue. They keep the machinery humming.

Back when I had motorcycles, I always wanted to take off for several weeks and ride the entire route from Chicago to California. It would of been really cool to see all the roadside attractions and stop at all the interesting ones that are still around.

Sadly I never accomplished that.

Too bad that site doesn't measure up. Based on our several Culvers with an hour of where I live, I'd take an In-N-Out burger over a Culvers butter burger or any other variety any day. But If people want to go to Culvers or we don't want the extra drive I have no problem as the Culvers's burger is quite good (Culvers is about 2 miles from my hosue -- In-N-Out about 5 miles and when you're on a lunch break from work sometimes you don't want to drive or someone wants chicken or something).

These other burger places like Habit, 5 Guys, Shake Shack, or whatever make a fine burger. It's just they are expensive and there are ones better (more satisfying) and less expensive.

Luckily burger preference is a personal preference and there is no right or wrong.

As I have posted before, I have never eaten at a McDonalds in my life.

You've not missed anything. At US McDonald's at least, they're the worst of the fast food burgers IMNSHO.

Agreed! There are a couple of local dive taverns around here that make killer burgers that are worlds better than any of the burger chains.

Culvers does make a good bacon double butterburger, but I really don't care for their crinkle fries. They are like the type you get at the grocery store in the frozen section.

I'm with the others: I like the ones I make and grill. I can make them as big and hearty as I like them!

I told my children and now my grandchildren :-

Dream BIG dreams.
Write them down and have a date when to accomplish them.
Have pictures of what you want. Put them on the bedroom door to see them every morning.
DO NOT ALLOW ANYONE TO TAKE THE DREAM AWAY. Because people will try (even those close to you).

My son wouldn't do it. He gets by in life - just!
My daughter did do it. (and still does). She is wealthy; not just in money.

I assume it wasn't holding as much of a charge as it was rated for?
That is what I was thinking, but how do you measure the charge? Voltage across the capacitor?

If the capacitor is bulging or split, it's failing/failed.
That would make it easy.

I understand how to test a capacitor using a multimeter, but it typically requires removing the capacitor from the circuit. I was looking for a shortcut.
