Tea party? What do the British call these kinds of parties?
BBQ in the UK, a Braai if you're South African, but I really loved a potjiekos, that was awesome. What do the British call these kinds of parties?
Nah! that's a piss-upTea party?
The old story of 'historians changing history'.First look at this shot...i thought for a second the northerners are using high pressure water stream to fend off the enemy. I'm thinking, come one guys, i don't think that's how it went![]()
Australians call their cookouts/grills a Barbie "put a shrimp on the barbie Mate"
Americans usually refer to these kinds of parties as a barbeque or a cookout.
Any word if they are going to replace the Bush river bridge also because that is also a two track bridge along the northeast corridor.Good morning, sunny and it will be HOT. After work yesterday decided to go down to Perryville, Maryland to see if any MARC electrics are still running. I'm disappointed to say i didn't see any. This was to be the train with HHL8, but MP36 is pulling in at 20:08, that's 8:08 pm for AmericansView attachment 193334
Some time earlier cought this MARC train approaching Perryville over Susquehanna river bridge:View attachment 193336
Plans are to eventually replace this bridge with a new one, old age and the fact that there's only two tracks here, making this part a bottle neck. Speeding Acela to Washington DC:View attachment 193333
This last one is something i've been hunting for; a CSX on the old Baltimore and Ohio over former Pennsy "Columbia and Port Deposit" branch;View attachment 193335
This is looking toward the junction at Perryville station and CSX is heading north.
Actually David, I do, Most subdivisions in Central Jersey do. Those in row houses or town houses, high rises and condos generally don't...if they do it's called common ground.Do you have sideyards and frontyards?
Ya mean like this? This last one is something i've been hunting for; a CSX on the old Baltimore and Ohio over former Pennsy "Columbia and Port Deposit" branch
David-I have a front yard and 2 side yards, I don't really refer to them as front yard, side yard, When I go out and mow, I say I'm going to mow the front and sides. All the houses around here have side yards, so your neighbors are not right on top of each other.Do you have sideyards and frontyards?
I wish my American born mother had been able to teach me 'American English'. Instead she had to learn 'English English'.![]()
I'm not sure about that one, or almost identical looking Gunpowder bridge. I would assume there are plans for both. The Susquehanna bridge is very well known so it's probably receiving all the attention.Good morning gang!
81° and sunny this morning with a high of 93 expected. Heading out soon to go pick up my brass locates that were in the mechanic shop. Tell him to bring them home and put paint on them.

In my younger days, I have been known to waters ski through the uprights of the bridge. Not the draw span, but the small supports on each side. Ohhh the days that we were young and dumb and full of ………stuff!!
Is the Aiken connection the name for the trackage just south of Perryville going under Northeast Corridor and connecting to C&PD back in the day? Back in 1993 while traveling the Corridor i saw that the overgrown tracks were still there under the Corridor.Ya mean like this?

Gary Pancavage photo, (from drone I believe).
I have had the "pleasure?" of walking the Susquehanna Movable Bridge, and the full length of the Aiken connection. (dodging copperheads), back when I was the Czar of the C&PD. Needless to say that you get a different perspective when overlooking the Susquehanna from the B&O.
Yes Americans have "Front Yards"Good day all. It is midday. A large coffee please, Flo.
Good grief! I go to bed at 1.00am. Have a lie in until 10.00am and I find the world is talking all kinds of English.
Americans telling me 'barbie' is Australian. Fair dinkum and all that, but here this part of England we call outdoor cooking 'barbies'. (I hate outdoor cooking..)
We have eight American people in our village. 4th July is a big thing for them (naturally). We heard the fireworks.
Backyards. I do not hear that word so often these days. Here in this part of England a backyard is a small space out the back door of the house. No garden; just paved if you were lucky. In days gone the outside toilet was there. Once the toilet/bathroom was installed inside the house a small shed was built in the backyard.
Your backyards are our back garden. The side garden is at the side of the house; and of course the front garden is at the front.
Do you have sideyards and frontyards?

A chicken to cook.
Back later
A beautiful black cat and not loco to avoid the hawk!this shot is from a few days ago.

When Loco-Kitty sees a hawk circling, he moves to spot UNDER the table or a chair.
He doesn't want to be hunted, while he's hunting.
Count me in, thank you!For fans of Lionel.
I have a front yard.Do you have sideyards and frontyards?
I must ask, what is that?that's a piss-up
The English language is always evolving. Most Americans wrongly use BBQ as a verb instead of a noun!
