Good Morning All!

68F @ 50% clear and hot again. No relief in sight. Near record high again today; 103F yesterday.

Maria drug me to a local house yesterday as she found a dish set she wants ( Facebook post ). Dish set? Said I, how many dish sets do you need? She gave me 'the look' which probably meant 'How many steam engines do you have? Well, I digress. With further questioning and investigation I found out:
Set is Franciscan with most from California, some from Maryland and none from England. California sets are from 1935 to 1960, Maryland from 1961 to 2000, England 2000 up.

She told me she has been looking for this set for years. Could always find them but they were/are pricey. 20 years ago, the California sets were going for upward of $400. Did some Craiglist searching and those now are going upwards of $1000 in the populated areas. Then she told me that this specific set became popular by Jackie Kennedy when she used them in the Whitehouse. Hmmm. We ended up with over 100 pieces - a few are chipped but the rest are like new. Now I have stuff to get her for Birthday and Christmas. Do we really need a $100 gravy boat? How about $80 Salt/Pepper sets? Ya, works for Birthday and Christmas.

Paid $125 and asked the seller 'Are you sure' thrice. She was down sizing her Mother from 4000 square feet to 900 and since this is Libby, she knew she was really cheap, but they had to go.

Maria told her 'They will be loved'. She beamed all the way home and while unpacking. Gessh, and I thought I was like a little kid when getting deals on stuff.

There are also those st00pid tea cups you can't get your fingers in, but she will stash them somewhere for now.

I did come away with a deep fat fryer @ $20, looked brand new; and a Targus P60T tripod another $20. Too bad there was no train stuff!

The septic hole is almost done, so now we get to go to Home Depot in Ponderay for some PVC pipe; can't get what I want here. So lunch it is there today or tomorra and will get what I need.

Later
Todd, I'm happy for Maria and you sir are a good man!

The dog was restless all night last night, which is very unusual for her. I was up 3 times with her.

A little while ago I heard meowing under our bedroom window and went out to take a look.

This explains what she was hearing all night.

Afternoon, all! I post today with a very sad and broken heart. This morning, I had to have my little buddy put to sleep. His back legs had lost so much muscle mass, he was unable stand, squat or barely walk. He was a rescue. I picked him up and carried him around the store where the rescue dogs were being shown. We bonded instantly, and maintained that bond and trust until the end, as I held him and stroked him as he crossed. I thanked God for giving us 14 years together. While I and the wife are hurting, we know it was the best for him.

Aww, Hughie I am so deeply sorry.

It is the hardest thing we must do, but it must be done. I feel better hearing you were with him, holding him till the end. He will be with you forever, in your heart and thoughts. It seems impossible now, but in time you will think of all the happy memories he gave you, more often than the sadness of losing him. He is no longer in pain, and I can assure you he would not want you to be so sad.

May God comfort you and help you both find peace in this the saddest of times.

So would Earl be considered part of the royal chain?
Yes. For example :-

Prince Edward was Earl of Wessex, Sophie (his wife was Countess of Wessex.
Their son, James was Viscount Severn
Prince Edward is now Duke of Edinburgh. Sophie is Duchess of Edinburgh.
James is now Earl of Wessex, Earl of Forfar and Viscount Severn
James' sister, Lady Louise Mountbatten-Windsor has a lake (in Manitoba, Canada) named after her. When she is 18 she will receive a title.

The only thing that came to my head when men receive titles:
😉

The funniest thing about those dishes is... it's you, not me😆. I've got the taste of that nonsense when i was married, yepper, IKEA furniture, so had to be IKEA dishes. IKEA furniture had to go, and so did the dishes. I'm not doing that again🤣
IKEA dishes are great and cheap. I bought a set of white and a set of black at IKEA in Munich in 1991. We're still using them. A few have gotten broken over time when dropped etc but they work fine, look ok, etc for every day dishes. In fact if we ever move to the house we've been building I plan on getting a few of the cheapo sets they have there now. Look a lot better and $30 for a set of 6 I think it was is cheap... (Maybe a set of 4 but I think it was 6): abbreviated sets, albeit, with only a bowl and two plates, but I'll take it.

There will be a test tomorrow
