Yep, remember that. Also, onboard ship, they were always taking WGBT readings in the MER and AMR spaces to make sure folks were not staying there too long. I was surprised that they were not so strict about that in the shipyard as the Japanese workers would be sweating profusely and plodding along in the old days, but recently, they started keeping an eye out on that. Something must have happened as unfortunately in most cases, something bad has to happen first.

I had one in Hawaii and used it all the time. And come to think of it, it really did a good job at french fries. Must be the strength of the air flow as my convention oven's flow isn't that strong. Didn't bring it with me back to Japan as the voltage and frequency wouldn't let it come up to full power.

I also had one of the first gen air ovens a long time ago. Don't remember the name of it, but it was the saucer section of the USS Enterprise. The fan was strong enough to pull the center of a cake up and make it look like Mt. Fuji. It was funny when one of my friends tried to make a b-day cake in it.

It also did a good job with the pillsbury biscuits.

Nice day today, we wound up with our G'niece Nataley and her friend Paisley staying here last night as their house was buried with company. Good day at Church and now a lazy afternoon and evening. Back up to 98 today, supposed to be another hot day tomorrow. Glad the forum is somewhat behaving today.

Good morning all!

The heat and humidity are back this week. Currently its 71F under partly cloudy skies. High for today is going to be around 91F. Looks
like this will persist all week. Still hoping for an early fall.

Due to the all day on and off rain showers yesterday I didn't get out and get the lawn cut. Today it will have to take priority when it dries out.
Hoping by 10am I can get out there and get it done before it gets too warm. The trimming may have to wait till the weekend, I do have a few
other things like laundry and run and drop off the last installment of property taxes to the bank.

Other than that, not much else going on.

Has anyone tried AiStudios for simple image creation? Did some looking and images are free - video is another story. Anyway, how much spam do y'all get from any of the AI widgets even if you 'opt out' of the marketing/promotional stuff?

Had fun yesterday getting the tankless WH on the cinder block wall. Well, almost on the wall. Needed longer screws for the toggle bolts and of course the1st attempted hole was into the block web....

This site is still the same IP, ISP and location. ISP; don't know the physical name and don't care. - Unified Layer IP block, in Provo. Does look like somebody has fixed stuff - a good thing Thanks Bob!

Not sure if I'm making my trip to Tampa in 3 weeks for the Author Convention. We'll see.

I've made the medial contacts this morning. First an email into my primary care to share my wellness screening, and ask about getting my BP down while I'm dealing with the piriformis sciatica issue. No word back yet.

Then a call into the ortho clinic describing the return/ramp up of my leg pain. Waiting to hear back there as well.

For those of you worried about my diabetes risk, it is a concern, but lower on the list than pain and BP right now. BP has been spiked in the 140s/high 80s since mid Aug. I suspect that is due to my current use of major amounts of Ibu and Tylenol and the pain.

We went out for a good greasy burger yesterday with cheese and bacon, but I was good and got the broccoli instead of the tater tots. Cookie count was ONE to help get the pills down between meals.

Here's the numbers from the Lab tests. Wife said most primary care docs only order the first set:

I couldn't remember exactly what my wife said about the LP-IR score, but I asked ClaudAI and he returned something that lined up with what my resident Clinical Laboratory Scientist told me.

It's a lab-developed index that estimates insulin resistance — how well your body's cells respond to insulin — using detailed characteristics of your lipoprotein particles rather than measuring blood sugar or insulin directly. It's meant to catch insulin resistance earlier than traditional markers like fasting glucose or A1c, since lipoprotein changes can show up before blood sugar itself becomes abnormal.

How it's calculated:
It's derived from the NMR (nuclear magnetic resonance) LipoProfile test — the same test that gave you your LDL-P, HDL-P, and particle size numbers. The LP-IR score is a weighted combination of six specific lipoprotein particle measurements:
  • Large VLDL (triglyceride-rich) particle concentration
  • VLDL particle size
  • LDL particle size
  • HDL particle size
  • Small LDL particle concentration
  • Large HDL particle concentration

Insulin resistance tends to produce a characteristic pattern across these six measures — more large VLDL particles, smaller LDL and HDL particles, fewer large HDL particles — and the algorithm weights and combines them into a single score from 0-100.

Score interpretation (per your report):
  • <27: insulin sensitive
  • 27-45: normal/moderate
  • 45-63: above normal (yours, at 57, falls here)
  • 63: insulin resistant
Why it matters separately from glucose/A1c: Since it's based on particle patterns rather than blood sugar itself, it can flag developing insulin resistance while your glucose (88, normal) and A1c (5.4, normal) still look fine — which is exactly the situation you're in. That's the whole point of ordering it as part of a "wellness" panel: catching the metabolic shift before it progresses to prediabetes-range blood sugar numbers.

anyway: I've got a deep tissue massage scheduled for 9am local on the offending butt cheek. Hope to get that piriformis to loosen up.

Now it's just a waiting game to see which medical office calls or emails back first.
 
Good Morning All. Clear and 76° here this morning. Forecast is for 101° today, just like yesterday. I won't get into the forecast since it is pretty close to the same for another ten days.

Forum does seem to be revitalized this morning.

Nothing special about yesterday, the usual laundry after Mass and an hour re-balancing my retirement portfolio on the computer. No new positions, just shifted a few existing ETF's around.

Early afternoon doctor visit today with the electrocardiologist to discuss the still-present atrial flutter. He'll recommend a second ablation.

Out in the train shed yesterday, I continued painting the backdrop. Yesterday, it was the green horizon. I moved over to the workbench to add lighting to the Import Motors structure and had to stop and make emergency repairs to my chair. That took over an hour to re-attach the broken leg. But it should last a few more years now. It didn't give out and send me tumbling, but it was close. I did get the lighting installed afterwards, but have not completed the re-installation on the layout.

Mike - I have to agree on the usefulness of the air fryer. I use ours more than the microwave. While I can also use the oven, it is much quicker to use the air fryer.

Yep! That's what he's singing. Doesn't make a lot of sense to me, but most lyrics don't.

Rock music birthdays today include the late Jerry Allison, drummer of Buddy Holly's band The Crickets; born in 1939. Irish musician Van Morrison, turns 81 today and the late Bob Welch, guitarist/vocalist in an early version of Fleetwood Mac ( He wrote Sentimental Lady, Hypnotized, Bermuda Triangle), was also born in 1945.

It’s 75f degrees, heading to 90 and it’s humid. There is a nice breeze allowing me out on the south facing deck right now.

Troy, good lord I thought you were talking much higher A1C numbers. With those cookies, pizza and booze I was fearing much worse. Just cut that pizza to 1 every other week and you will get below 5 with exercise when you can move again. Everything in moderation and as someone already noted if it’s white try not to eat it but …

This is tree week. I moved the trees back onto the bench last night. The 50 birch trees just need the leaves added and shadowing spray added. They are ahead of schedule and it will be helpful to finish and get them out to the layout at Fridays work session. Installation though still will not happen until,October 7th based on what the scenery guy told us Friday. The 44 Trembling Aspen have just the trunks cut. Today I’m going to work on creating the separate wire limb and branch structure from twisted wire. Until my new glasses come in I am not ready to drill the holes into the trunks.

One of the guys left his cardboard cutting tool from Ryobi for me on Friday. He says it works great, we’ll see! I’m going to cut into scenery support lattice webbing strips much of my shipping boxes inventory. Since my weathering commissions are down I won’t need probably 75% of the inventory

I have a similar electric cardboard cutter. The wife gave me for Christmas. It’s not by Ryobi, I think it’s an Amazon knock off. Shortly after Christmas, we replaced the hot water heater in the house, and I used it to turn the box that the hot water heater came in into a plethora of cardboard strips.
 
Good morning all. I hope this is the last week for the intense heat here. The dewpoint is not supposed to be too high though, so it won't be as bad as the past heat waves we've had over the summer. It'll be miserable enough though with the heat warnings already issued until Saturday.

Installed suppressor-height sights on a buddy's FN 509 yesterday. Horrible trigger on that firearm. Worse than a Glock.

I'm going to try to get into the train room after lunch. I didn't sleep well last night so I'm a little groggy this morning. Might not be able to stay awake in the train room.
The forum seems to be working fine this morning. I don't know what was done to increase the speed, but keep it up.

Good morning, all! The weather folks are going nutso with the low that should hit tomorrow. Heavy rain. flooding, ponding and power outages all forecasted. Admittedly, with the Gulf water as hot as it is, development is a real possibility. We do have a 18,000kw/27,000kw generator if need be.
The forum seems to be working close to normal. At least it's not taking 10 to 15 seconds per "like".
