Good Morning All. Overcast(?) and 80° out there this morning. Light rain nearby that probably won't hit here, looks like it will all skirt off to the east. Further east between here and Texarkana, there's significant rain. Nope! The NWS didn't see this coming; see the long-range forecast that I posted yesterday. They have advanced the arrival of the cool front to tomorrow instead of Thursday, highs below 100°. I'm more interested in the overnight lows being around 72°. High today at 107°, after 108° yesterday. And so it goes!
I actually cut up some firewood yesterday after taking care of some inside tasks first (dishwasher, etc.). Tried a new recipe for supper, breaded pork chops in the air fryer. Worked out well.
Today starts with another trip to a doctor; this time it's the semiannual visit to the gastro doc. Nothing new to report, but Medicare pays for it so why not? I have had a history of unexplained internal bleeding. We'll tack a few other errands on to the trip.
Out in the train shed yesterday, I continued with some more minor projects. The clear glossy lacquer to represent pool water is not quite working as expected, but may still be salvageable. I have defined my next project area and cleared it of all structures and vehicles. First up will be painting the sky-blue backdrop. I am guessing that the area is about 24" deep x 36" wide, but I didn't measure it. Running along the backdrop is an industrial siding that serves 6 industries; only one of which is in this project. The two to the north are already completed. This one doesn't have any actual destination yet, not even a 2D building. But I have been switching boxcars at the spur itself for 12 years now. Yesterday, I did install a ground throw for an unrelated switch. This particular location has an ancient Life-Like powered #4 switch since it would require reaching over structures in front of it to access. Two others along this same wall have them (powered switches) as well. The area is still unballasted. The front 8"-10" is already done with a main line, passing siding and a road running through. Once completed, there is still a 4' - 5' area to the south that still needs to be completed. Track is laid and operational, with partial landscaping.
Troy - Salmonella in eggs and poultry has always been a scare, it's just that there's now much more media hype about it. Salmonella is easily controlled by proper cooking.
A lot of musical birthdays today. Gene Simmons, bassist for KISS is 77, Rob Halford, vocalist for Judas Priest is 75; Elvis Costello is 72. And a couple that you might not be familiar with, Henry Paul, guitarist/vocalist for The Outlaws is also 77, and progressive rock keyboardist Geoff Downes, of Yes and Asia is 74. On the country side of things, Billy Ray Cyrus is 65.
OK, I was slightly wrong, as it is lightly sprinkling here right now; maybe enough to make splotches in the dust on the cars!
Everyone have a terrific Tuesday.
