Thanks! Dr. visit went well today. CT scan showed a lot of diverticula activity but nothing serious. My worry was the C word, but that was clear. He wants to do a colonoscopy so I told him that I have my eyeball surgery in the middle of next month. He said we can wait until that is done. The CT scan looked pretty neat as he showed me the staples from the last surgery.
He also gave me some stuff for my acid reflux. I told him that I get the heartburn bad when I'm hungry and drink too much water. He asked if my gut pain was around that time as well, but I had not paid attention to that, so I guess I will from now on.
Me too. Rebuilt my 351C at the one in Key West. Put a 231 Buick in my Toyota PU at the one in Mare Island. Will be doing my oil changes, tire changes and balancing at the one here in Yokosuka. They used to have a drive on lift, but that went away. Would have been easier for me.
I often tell my wife, who worries endlessly about me "I'm just looking everything over again in case I missed something." In reality I'm trying to gather my strength to get my ass up!
Got through the night ok with alternating Ibu, then Acetaminophen. Did pretty well at matching reload times for each waking up for a bathroom break overnight. But the 2am transition was a little rough. Probably from the lack of activity. So I adjourned to the recliner for another 3 hours of sleep.
Struggling right now. Just did my stretches and teeter table, but the nerve is still angry. So I'm trying to get up and move, do some gentle stretching.
Get my ears lowered today about noon. Had to reschedule from last monday, when my eyeball was trying to walkabout without me (PVD time)
I had hoped that I could get going and do some writing first thing this morning. So far, that's not working with the sciatica issue. Pain is not good for the characters or plot. Everyone in the book may be deceased or in jail by the end of chapter 3.
Good morning from another dew covered morning. 68f degrees now, feels like 68 and the dew point is 68. The high for the day is supposed to be 85 with calm winds. The humidity now is 98%.
The major rain event yesterday morning left a trace in the collection device.
Thanks for the comments on the Aspen. This tree I should have mentioned is supposed to be changing colors in September. Marco I agree. I will spray the underside of the tree canopy with some darker green. This is not a foreground tree but will be part of a mixed planting of 21.
After letting the concrete driveway and parking pads cure for ten days after they finally poured it we drove the car on it Sunday. Tomorrow the garage door people are coming out to install the door. The car needs a washing as sitting under the trees has not been a good idea.
This is a medical week for me. Tuesday, Wednesday are single appointments and Thursday is a 2-for. Today is for the eyes! Same medical campus but different buildings.
Currently its a mostly cloudy, very humid 72F. High is supposed to reach 85F..
Had some impressive thunderstorms roll thru the area last nigh. Nothing severe in my area but a little to the north and south
had severe weather with all kinds of warnings issued. We only received very heavy rain and lots of lightning and thunder. Had
1.2" in the gauge this morning, so it put down some rain in a short amount of time.
Not much more than the usual on the agenda for today. Have a couple loads of laundry rolling and dishwasher is already emptied. I
think the grass will wait another day or two, its not quite ready.
Good Morning All. Clear and 77°, the usual weather pattern right now. It only reached 99.5° yesterday, thus breaking our string of 100°+ days.
The usual ho-hum Sunday around here yesterday. Father John had a rather short homily at church yesterday, so that was the highlight! Daughter #2 came by and picked up the granddog, so I had to dodge the Shark vacuum for the rest of the day.
As I posted yesterday, it's a medical week for me. Routine cardiologist visit today, so I have that to look forward to. Just the semiannual follow up for the stent from 2023. Of course after I add the 1.25 hour round trip and the standard 30 minute wait to the 15 minute visit, I've shot the whole morning. Tomorrow is the PCP (2 hour round trip) and Thursday is the epidural from the new spine guy. At least the epidural is scheduled just ahead of the weekly grocery trek. Today's trip will include a stop at HD for pool Chlorine, gas up the chariot and the pharmacy. I have a $1/gal credit at the Kroger gas pumps.
A short visit out in the train shed yesterday, as is customary for Sundays. I did paint the transplanted leg on the Longhorn but I left the camera out there. Did some more wiring upgrades and ran trains. Mostly ran trains. The getting down and up off the floor and squirming under the layout is keeping me rather limber. At least I can still do it without any pain.

76°F/75°F, another heat-soaked miserable weather day in SoiL. Supposed to be worse than yesterday with HI near 110°F. The cooler weather (low 80°s) we were supposed to have near the end of this week has now turned into upper 80s and no dewpoint relief.
Tomorrow morning I'm cutting grass wet or dry. I'm not going to put up with this heat that comes later in the day. St. Louis is seeing rain and thunderstorms, heavier just to the north, that was not even hinted at in a previous forecast from yesterday. Someone is not spending enough time at NOAA websites to get even a 50/50 forecast for rain and temperature. Intense Heat Warnings in place until Wednesday.
Nothing going on here except the air conditioner. I spent about 30 minutes outside with Willow yesterday until the mosquitos found me. That was probably from Willow giving away my position with all of her panting when she walks up to get a scratch from me. Since I didn't feel like a Deep Woods OFF bath, we came inside.
August in the Midwest. You'd think I would be used to this after 64 years, but I could never acclimate to this rain forest like tropical weather.

Oh, and it does feel good to be home. Got an actual real shower for the first time in 10 days yesterday then I went and slept in my own bed last night. Lawn care nurses are due to come out Tuesday morning, and I will need to meet with the infectious disease team later this week so that I can go back to work next week. In the meantime, I just sit back and heal.

74° and clear, going for a high of 104° today. Add about 5° for the feels like temp and it was 107° yesterday.
Weekend a bit busy. I had an eye appointment Friday morning which killed doing anything outside (eyes dilatated). Saturday, I mowed and thought I broke the lawn tractor. Hit the stump from the apple tree, which stopped a 23 horsepower engine in it's track and couldn't get it to start. I then whipped out the gas mower I fixed a couple weeks back and finished the back yard. The front was done previously with the battery mower. Wife was upset that I "Pushed" the nearly 1/4 acre back yard. I reminded her I only steered as that is a self propelled mower. I was able to restart the tractor once the battery was recharged. I also got the back gate fixed "again", all before it got too hot.
Planning a trip later as I have to use some vacation time. Thinking we're going to do the west half of Rt 66. East half would come next summer as the family is going to have a celebration of life for my parents in Western Michigan and we'd then run the route from Chicago to Springfield, MO properly. Been on the interstates from Joliet to Springfield, but not the old road. Technically, the interstates replacement from Joliet, IL to Flagstaff AZ.

Willie, can I say we are really going to move. No. There are a few reasons we might build but many more why we should stay. This space was built for us as a possible place to be when we are older and it’s close to the daughter without living in the same space. Though we are above the stables you’d never know it sitting inside the space. This basically is a Barndominium and very well constructed. Terry thinks I miss my layout space more than I feel I do. I have 2 good friends layouts I help build on Fridays and while my bench is a work in progress I have plenty of space. However, it does not feel like home!
