After some reading, I've found that they are good for about six rounds before they are empty and have to reload.

I've seen this skunk in the neighborhood before, but this is the first visit that I know of to my yard. He's probably been here before but I haven't seen him until last night. Other than his defense mechanism, they are really inoffensive animals and are quite social.

Good morning folks, 84 here and cloudy. Some enthusiastic storms last night and more forecast st for tonight. Only supposed to get to 94 today. Gonna take Lady C out for some lunch and errands in a couple of minutes. First load of laundry in, one more to do today. Gonna work on getting some buildings glued on to the Corner Module today and some basic ground cover. Then start weathering on the Enginehouse.
Karl, keep getting your strength back!
Marco good luck with the locomotive Doc.
The rest of you have a good day and God bless.

Skunk story. In HS a good friend of mine sometimes came to school with a skunk smell. He didn’t smell it at all. He was oblivious.

The problem was that some skunks lived under their (200-300 year old) house. They had a bunch of cats and the cats would go under the house and find the skunks. The skunks would use their tools to defend themselves and being under the house, the house would take the odor and it would get attached to the occupants. Being that they lived with it they were accustomed to it and didn’t have a clue.

This so evil.....where can I get some?

Yordan, meet the Mick? Alvarez gunning for feat not seen in 70 years.

Yordan Alvarez of the Houston Astros has a real shot at achieving something not seen since Mickey Mantle in 1956: leading all of Major League Baseball, not just the American League in batting average, home runs, and RBIs, capturing the elusive MLB Triple Crown.

The MLB Triple Crown is something truly rare, only four players have done it.
Mickey Mantle in 1956
Ted Williams in 1942
Lou Gehrig in 1934
Rogers Hornsby in 1925
That’s not just elite company; that’s baseball royalty!

Yordan currently leads in Batting Average 329 - Homeruns 35 - He is only three off the pace in RBI 85.

Go get ’em, Yordan!

Every Triple Crown winner in MLB history

Karl,
Are they sending you home with a PICC line in? The sooner you get out the faster you'll recover.

My wife was hospitalized, with a strep infection in the bone marrow of her L3&L4 (osteomyelitis). They released her after 5 days, but they wanted to send her to a rehab center, for 6 weeks, because she needed daily infusions. I used to inspect those places and told them no F'ing way. I had them teach me how to do the infusions and I put my job second to making sure she was taken care of.

"Oregon on Fire" update:
Puerto Rico is 2,213,000 acres or 3,425 square miles. As of Thursday morning, roughly 3,125 square miles of Oregon land have burned in 2026.

The wind has changed and the smoke has been clearing out....finally. I can actually see the mountains, in smoke haze, to the East.

We have a forum member, who we haven't seen in a while, named Curt who lives from Florida. He kept pet skunks in a spare room in his house. His were always de-scented before he domesticated them.
I get them here occasionally, here's a young critter who didn't really seem afraid of me; too young to have working scent glands.

Well, howdy there internet peeps, and those with buckets or lists. Don't kick the first, and complete the second.

It's Troy again.

Safely ensconced on the couch.

For whoever suggested checking the meds, nothing that would cause the piriformis to flare. Several of the supplements I take actually help with muscle cramps.

Tonight, for dinner, the wife wanted to for ... 🥁 🥁 🥁 🥁

PIZZA

I know... you're all shocked!

On the way, dropped off a bag of Aluminium cans at the drop shed for Habitat for Humanity. When we sent the recycle bin back to Waste Management, I decided I'd save out the aluminum for the charity. Prez Jimmy would be proud of me. As for the glass and steel cans, made a deal with a neighbor to drop them in his. He took one look at what I said was a month's worth and waved off my $20 for my share. 90% of what we generate is diet Dr. Pepper cans.

Actually worked on the next book's plot and characters today.

Tomorrow, if I can get situated on the couch and hold the laptop like I am now, then I might be able to write some in the book. It would be nice to finish one this month.

No skunks in this book, but there is a beaver hell bent on building a dam out of the timber on the amusement pier. Officer Harold will have his hands full protecting the landmark.

This is one of those moments I think back to a different time.

I grew up in San Jose during Silicon Valley's infancy. (1970's-early 1990's) My dad worked for IBM (I've Been Moved) and in 1972 they were transferring his division from the headquarters in Endicott, NY. He had a choice of CA or TX. The home we had backed up to a 25 acre Italian Plum (prune) orchard. Every year the migrant workers would come through and pick them, then take them to the drying shed. There were still cherry, apricot, walnut, apple, etc orchards all around Santa Clara Valley during that . The area was a major agricultural area at one time.....and houses were affordable.

All that has been gone since the 1990's.

I just read an article about Silicon Valley and its affordability. The wealthiest 10% of residents control a staggering 75% of the region's wealth and the bottom half own less than 1%. Residents now need to earn more than $460,000 a year to afford a typical home in San Jose.

The home I grew up is now worth $2.25 million. 5br/3ba, 2200 sq/ft, 6500 sq/ft lot. My dad paid $28k in 1972 and sold it 32 years later for $1m. It was built in 1962.

The first home (townhouse) that Nicki and I bought in 1989 was 1383 sq/t, 3bd/2.5ba, and we paid $209k. It recently sold for $1.35 million.

I don't know how people survive renting with the average 1 bedroom apartment is over $3000/month.

It's a different world there.

Got work starting to actually show progress on the Corner Module Three buildings now glued down and drying, so that tomorrow evening or maybe Sunday will start putting the fill in gravel and ground scenery on. The Engine House is still not attached as it needs to be weathered and receive detailing. People for the module are mostly ready to go on once the terrain is in.

My old IPAD AIR 2's batteries only last 3 hours. Sometimes, it won't boot up at anything less than 60%, so I decided to get the batteries replaced. Well, nobody works on this anymore and I couldn't get the service guy to do it even though I had bought the battery. So, today was the day to give it a go.

Fired up the youztube

Looked easy enough. What I missed or wasn't revealed, is that the border that you need to cut through is only about 3mm wide on the sides. I was cutting in way too deep.

Managed to get the cutter into the screen. Must've cracked it.

Got the battery remove and replaced, and gave it a test.

So, took the battery out, and got rid of the personal info storage. Tried to burn it to melt the solder, but a center punch did a better job.

Guess it is time to get another one.
