Having visited both the Hiroshima museum and the Nagasaki museum a few times each, I reflect today on the terrible outcome when you prosecute an unjust war.

Both museums are things you should visit. Ignore the political displays and the pacifist propaganda but learn that this can be the outcome if you prosecute unjust war. (obviously I am speaking of those who started the war, not those who finished it)

And that those who suffer the most are the civilian population who didn't vote for war.

Sometimes when you bite off more than you can chew, you get the whole bowl slammed into your face.

The C&DR is officially Kaput!

Bench work and roadway. I saved two modules and one incomplete module. the rest is gone. Rolling stock and structures are stored, for one more layout.

Good evening folks, 81 here now after hitting 96 today. Got work done on about a dozen vehicles and three structures, two just need people and glued down to the layout, the other is waiting on corrugated sheet for the roof, then people and weathering, this one is heading for the home layout. It's nice to start seeing the light at the end of the tunnel for the first module.
Karl, quit messing around and make em send you home [not really, I've been stuck in the hospital too may times, but get better].
Guys, have a good night.

I was looking forward to seeing the Angels’ young 24-year-old starter, Ryan Johnson. When I saw his quirky windup, I remembered I’d seen him before; he battled my Birds for six solid innings back in April. He’s got great stuff, long extension, and a windup that makes him hard to read. His weakness is his control, and he has trouble pitching from the stretch. Our starters took advantage, but the role players couldn’t finish the job. The Orioles’ poor defense by those same role players didn’t make things any better.

This is how our "brilliant" manager takes a team built to win 100+ games and ends up three games under .500 with fewer than 50 games left in the season. The Orioles have one of the best starting rotations in all of MLB, certainly the deepest. With real star power at every position, this just shouldn’t be happening.

It’s no wonder my Birds lead all of MLB in pinch-hit RBI; we always have a star player who should’ve been in the lineup riding the pine and ready to hit.

With a team this talented, less is more. Fill out the lineup card with the best players, sit back, relax, and let them do their thing. Stop outsmarting yourself by making unnecessary moves. Stop giving every player a turn; this isn’t little league! The more our manager tries to show how brilliant he is, the worse it gets, stop overthinking it!

Wheelset for my Athearn Consolidation came in. This is the front wheelset to get rid of the traction tire wheels, since they already rotted off.

Found out that the pins are made of plastic! Good thing I didn't squish it too bad and could still use them.

Checked them against the wheel gauge and installed.

Luckily, the wheels are in quarter relative to the others.

I bought two sets in case I was going to pick up a mogul. Well, just found out that the mogul wheels are bigger in diameter. Oh well.

Hello from a gloomy looking So. Central Wisconsin. I’m waiting for the Crew Van. A work session this morning. Currently it’s 68f degrees heading to 85! Winds are calm and the humidity is 90%. No rain is expected

Enjoy your day

Good Morning All. Looking out my back door, it's clear and 77°, probably a bit warmer today than the exact 100° from the last three days. Just to liven things up a bit, the NWS has added a 15% chance or rain around midnight, back into today's forecast.

No real issues with yesterday's grocery trek, we made it home safely. Only missed one item that I had failed to add to the list, so I'm off to an early start for next week's list. So no Green Onions this coming week...which I feel are highly overrated anyway. Wife loves them and she was with me, so she should have remembered. The rest of the day was rather bland; I can't even remember what I did other than to make a major trip over to the dumpster before today's pick up, the usual stuff like empty chlorine bottles, household trash, beer bottles and train shed debris. Lady from next door came by and got caught up on her share of the dumpster cost, so that's an extra $150 in my LHS stash. She (and another neighbor) help share the cost of maintaining the 3 cu yd dumpster that I have.

No specific plan for today, yet!

Out in the train shed yesterday, I made some minor repairs on a few structures that I had earmarked during the most recent layout cleaning. Reattaching business signs, re-gluing fallen figures and adding those electrical connectors for the interior lighting. I removed a couple of bags of debris that I had gathered up earlier in the week for the trip out to the dumpster.

Mike - Hope that you are feeling better soon.
Karl - Keep up with the improvement before they start sending in ugly nurses!
Troy - Get well soon as well.
Marco - Enjoy your vacation. You probably deserve it.
Joe - Very sad photo of the layout. Looking forward to the next version.

Everyone have a fine Friday.

Good morning all!

Happy Friday!

Sunny but humid again this morning. Seems we cant get rid of the high humidity rates for more than a couple of days before it returns.
Currently its 68F heading up to 85F. No rain in the forecast.

Feeling a little better this morning. Hopefully Im on the downhill slide. Have a couple loads of laundry and my daughter has an orthodontist
appointment at 10.30. Other than that no big plans for the day. Another take it easy day.

have a safe day everyone!

Well, howdy there internet peeps and those with temperatures.

It's Troy again.

Piriformis syndrom still ongoing (it will be for a while) This week is about figuring out what works to empty the bladder when it hurts to stand, hurts to sit, and basically hurts enough to cut off the flow.

I'm not getting any writing done. That's my goal for next week.

But this week I decided to add a beaver to the sleepy coastal magical town with the wooden pier.
Wood.
Beavers
A need for a dam.

This isn't going to be pretty...

Managed to sell off one of my miniature armies yesterday, just in time to pay the preorder for the Rapido GP9u Canadian Pacific with beaver.

Seems to be beaver week here.

UPS said the GP9u should arrive today.

Right now, the most comfortable place for me to be during the day is my hobby chair. I squirm a lot, but can sit for 30ish minutes. Standing is painful if I'm not actively walking.

So, I've been putting paint on miniatures: Some Cultists for my undead army:View attachment 271496

These are about 38mm toes to top of head. 42ish mm to top of hat. So they're fun to paint with lots of detail.
Currently working on some undead minotaurs and some living statues for the same army.
Hay Troy. You seem to be a researcher and I assume that you checked your drugs. Check again, looking for 'side effects'.
I had lower back pain and figured some bone was out of whack. Went to Chiro, bones moved. Thought fixed. 3 days later, same same so I went again. No bones moved but felt better. 3 days again, same same. So dumbsh.t me finally figured it wasn't bones after the 2nd try and thought 'what changed'. In my case Doc, prescribed Tamsulosin to help Prostate shrink. Did an Ai search for side effects in Firefox - Yup, 'could' cause lower back pain. Got a ..um.. 2nd opinion in Chrome's Ai - same thing. Stopped taking and in a few days: bingo, no more pain. They were not lying about the pain. Could not walk, get up, sit down, roll over, recline, decline with out gasping and squeeking.
Hope ( maybe ) this helps!

74°F/73°F currently with scattered thunderstorms in the area. They should be disappearing soon. Dewpoint is going up now and will continue until next Tuesday as the heat rolls in. Heat warnings are expected but none issued yet.

Good morning. Last of the nice days might have been yesterday. I'll see where today goes with the windows still open. I might have to close up the house by noon and get the A/C running again. Power bill went up by another $6 next month.

I had Willow out last night about 2100 to do her business for the final time before bed. She managed to find a skunk out near the fence line. She was about five feet from it before I could tell what it was after it moved. I tried to stop her, but she has not been trained to know what 'halt' or 'stop' means when used after her name. I take for granted how well Lisl was trained and unconsciously expect this dog to respond the same way.

She did slow some though and allowed the skunk to get well out in front of her, but continued to follow it until I could get close enough to get her attention and call her back.

She didn't get a full blast, but she did walk into the cloud and had some on her. She stunk. I got most of it off of her with some Purple Power on a towel and then rinsed well with water. Repeated twice and she smells OK this morning. Just a hint of skunk. She'll do until I can get some hydrogen peroxide and baking soda today. I'm really glad she didn't get any closer, what a mess I would have had at that time of night.

I hope I won't be sharing any more skunk stories.

Have a safe Friday out there.

Servus!
