Morning all,

A cool 54° and clear this morning high of 79° later. Nothing higher than 77° predicted for the next 7 days. I expect us to get back in the 90's in time for the fall season. Kind of a rare year in the Wichita only experienced 1 100 degree day so far this summer, usually have 10 by this point, although mid to upper 90's isn't uncommon.

Good morning gang!

62° under sunny skies, heading to a high of 76°.

That beer picture reminds me of a song,

It was 50°F here at 0600 this morning. I'm glad I closed most of the windows last night. I had to put a blanket on the bed last night. It got kicked off about 0400 as I warmed up, but it was mighty comfy for a while.

I'm going to pretend yesterday didn't happen and start Monday all over again. I'm going to finish cutting my grass, and put in a small load of laundry. My nephew is returning today per invitation for grilled hamburgers and bratwurst for helping me yesterday. The water heater pretty much killed all of my plans I had for yesterday, but nothing I can't do today.

Including tipping back a few Bitburgers. 🍻

Good Morning All. Cloudy and 69°, only going up to 85° today. Even though there is no rain in the forecast, there's a rainy area across the entire southern part of the state of Oklahoma this morning, some areas are dipping down across the Red River into Texas. There's light showers about 10 miles east of me, but of course they are missing me. The whole system appears to be moving directly easterly, so my chances are pretty slim. Other than Thursday when the NWS is predicting 97°, the highs for the next 10 days are in the 80's.

Spent some time yesterday doing the monthly septic maintenance. Split and stacked up some more firewood and later in the afternoon I went to the new PT session. Twice a week for the next five weeks. It's supposed to rebuild the stamina that I lost during my hospitalization and recovery earlier this summer. All of this talk recently about goulash made me hungry for it; so I made a big container of it for supper. Deferring to Chad's wishes, I will not post a picture...I didn't think to take one anyway.
Today will start with a trash collection run. Shop trash, train shed debris, empty chlorine bottles, beer bottles and the usual kitchen trash. Load it all in the cart and trek 30 yards to the dumpster and back. That will be my mid-morning workout. Rest of the cooler day will be impromptu.

Out in the train shed yesterday, my time was shortened because I don't get home from the physical therapy until late afternoon. I decided which structure is next to get figures and I also went through the figure box to select them, but didn't have time to get any further; had to hit the pool and make the labor-intensive goulash!
You may remember back in February I assembled a Woodland Scenics kit called Live Wire Manufacturing. Here it is on the layout.

It is not a rail served industry. They make electrical transformers for home and industry here. I have 4 figures and a couple of detail parts, looking for one more to complete it. This will lead me to complete the actual scene next instead of just the earth colored plywood. Additional figures and some vehicles will be added then.

Tom O - That's one hell of a breakfast burrito! Even I could easily get two meals out of that.
please teach California what real pizzas are
Do you mean that bean sprouts and tofu isn't real pizza???
Homemade Tamales were a big seller at work while I was still there. A dozen at a time and there were at least four regular sellers who brought coolers full in every day.
Karl - Around here, the hotdog/sausage vendor has his canopy set up in the HD parking lot right outside of the exit. Does a really good business from what I can see.
Louis - Who does Amazon deliver to in those pre-dawn hours that you work? No deliveries in my part of the world until after daylight, but I am quite rural.
Patrick - It's been a cooler summer here this year as well. I have only recorded 2 days of 100° temperatures this summer, unofficial of course. Our average is 20 days. It has ranged from 0 one year to 71 in 2011.

Everyone have a great Tuesday.

Good morning all,

58 and sunny, breezy, shaping up to be a super day.

Ended up fixing a tail light issue on the suburban yesterday. Several taps into the wire cluster due to 2 add on sets of trailer harness. I added a new wire bypassing the octopus and solved it that way. About an hour and a half of crawling underneath.

Great to solve that! Spent the rest of the day cutting wood.

Some trains up for this morning and working the desk at the History Center 1230 to 3.

Thanks for all the Goulash feedback! I think I will make one of the recipes,

Dave LASM

It's been a hotter than normal summer for us. I've recorded 4 days 100+ and 20 that were at least 90....so far.

Rainfall has been normal. We received a little over 1/2" in July and about the same so far in August.

Good morning folks, raising my coffee cup to you all. Worked yesterday after preloading my van/suv thing. The Missus had a steak ready for me, but it was pouring rain so it went on the broiler instead of the grill. In a bit I have to unload the preloaded stuff as I am searching for an AWOL ballcap that is needed to help identify me at the game convention I am going to this weekend. We are playing Forumite Bingo and folks try to find and identify folks from the cards. I know I put the hat in the car last week, so it HAS to be in there somewhere.
66 here right now, only supposed to hit 74 with rain today. Y'all take care.

I think our summer was warmer than normal as well.

While we didn't record any 100s which is rare for us but we do see at least a couple a summer.

Rainfall was way down this summer. I have mentioned in a few posts that we haven't received any severe storms warnings this year and that is very rare for us. It has all gone to the North or South of us.

Kind of makes me wonder what Fall will bring.

Yes and very good too. Whenever I visited Goathland etc. I posted pictures to Jaz. She would then mode them very realistically.

I guess an E-invoice might be common in some parts of the world, I don't think I've ever seen one, through thousands of purchases.
Amazon issues an invoice after shipping the item before you receive it. After it has been delivered it becomes a receipt. Depending on the status of your order one or the other can be found on your order page.

I don't know how others handle it.

I can tell you if you can get to a real person on the phone Microsoft has excellent customer service. At least that has been my experience.

I wish you well.
Who does Amazon deliver to in those pre-dawn hours that you work? No deliveries in my part of the world until after daylight, but I am quite rural.
Usually, residential deliveries. From the ghetto to God's country and everywhere in between. We seldom make commercial deliveries in the hours before dawn. Sometimes Amazon will have us reattempt an undelivered commercial package. That happens out of stupidity at the station. The last time I was charged with an undelivered package was when they sent me to a UPS store that didn't open until 9am. More than two hours after I would finish. That blemished my perfect delivery record for three weeks, before they finally removed it.

To receive what Amazon calls "Sub-Prime, Same-Day" deliveries (priority packages) the customer must agree to 24/7/365 no recipient required deliveries. Otherwise, the package or packages will come via regular service during the day, Amazon vans, contractors, or USPS, usually. No same day or next day guarantee.

Third party Amazon sellers who do not have Amazon stock and ship their items can come via any service. I know nothing about them other than the packages I have received from them. Often directly from China from my personal experience.

I recently delivered a package in a rural area of Finksburg. MD. (God's country) I startled the customer as he was starting his pickup. He told me "What are you doing here" After I said to him "Good morning, sir, Amazon delivery" Thinking to myself "I know you heard me (I'm loud and proud) and can't you see my reflective Amazon vest" He then he sheepishly said "Don't come on my property at this time of the morning" I told him "This is a priority package sir, we start at 3am" He mumbled something else and I said "Take it up with Amazon, have a good day"

Frightened people say the dumbest shit. I once had a guy tell me "I though you came here to kill me" Somebody has a guilty conscience and WTF are you doing suiting in the dark by yourself at 4am?

This is why I wear a bright orange shirt under my vest, and I walk in the beam of my headlights. I don't want someone to take a shot at me!

I haven't agreed to anything but sometimes f I guy enough stuff from some "same day / next day" list they let me choose Next Day 4am-6am or whatever as one of the choices. I've seen them on my camera recording at 4am or 5am before. Normally I don't care but occasionally it's something I need asap so if they offer... Got to keep fine folks like Louis in business.

Well, howdy there internet peeps and those wondering what Willie's Ghoulash looks like? Was it made with real Ghouls? Or the artificial ones Spirit Halloween sells?

😜

It's Troy again. Making up for my super sleepy monday.

Already went to the big box store to get a couple more cartons of the vinyl floor planks that I did the lower midway landing with.... and they're out. Special buy and sold old now.... so I grabbed a sample of what was about the closest and brought it home. Wife gave her blessing to my choice. Doing the flooring will probably be my weekend project.

Then I installed the door latches, painted the touch ups on the doors and frames (need to a second coat on the edge of one door where I had to plane it down to fit in the crooked doorframe.

Went on my morning walk. It was 61 F-degrees when I began, and 64 when I finished. Someone in or around our community is power walking or jogging with their larger dog, and not letting the animal stop for business. They're sprinkling turds all on the walking path. It's not a pile. It's a partial here... a partial a few feet away... and then another partial. All fresh when I'm walking at about 9am. There are enough Ring doorbells in the neighborhood, I hope someone catches the perp. Let the doggie do their business before you run their legs off AND clean up after them.

After lunch, I whipped up the meatloaf and put it in the fridge. We'll probably smoke that tomorrow. Wife said she wants some grilled sweet corn with it. So tomorrow will be grilling day.

I need to make my 2 ft x 5ft shelf to add to the layout for the fiddle yard. I've got the lumber, but need to get the gumption to go out and cut it. I'm fresh out of gumption. So the cat and I may nap soon.

Please note that I didn't post any pics of the raw Meatloaf to not tempt Chad.

Troy's post about dogs ticked off one of my pet peeves, and it is PETS.
First off, I am in complete support of actual service dogs, thank God for them caring for people. However, I am really tired of folks bringing their animals [yes, they are animals] into grocery areas and endangering my life because they have a pet in their laps while driving. They are not "babies" they are animals. I have seen these fur babies leave piles in hotel and convention rooms because of their owner's inconsideration of other folks. We have many folks in our neighborhood walk their dogs and I am friendly with them and their dogs. But they are good neighbors who clean up the turds dropped by their pups.
End of rant.

I suppose the random turds could have been dropped as the dog was running away from a wolf or coyote. Most likely not, but it’s barely possible.

Good morning, all! A rather overcast day. Hot and humid, the norm. Other than a run to the pharmacy and post office nothing is planned for the day. Maybe some trains?

Tamales - Especially around the Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays, some of the Hispanic employees would come around asking if you wanted to buy homemade tamales. They were sold by the dozen. There was one guy that I worked with that sold the best. His wife and her mother made the tamales from a handed down family recipe. I would generally buy 6 dozen, 4 mild and 2 hot.
Food Truck - aka roach coach, some of the best food ever. I haven't seen a truck at our Home Depot or Lowe's but there are several that park in a lot just down the road apiece. There are a few that are semi-permanently parked by drive in grocery stores. Some have some lots of landscape trucks parked around them, a sure sign of good Mexican food.

It would be nice to Jaz drop in. It has been a while.

STAY SAFE
LATER

Sounds like in some of those areas warrant "Hazard pay"!
That is why we make the most at those hours. Not every contractor wants to do it.

I've seen signs like this.

Amazon sells them!

I once walked up on six-eight guys with handguns taking turns shooting at targets in PA. I scared the crap out of them. I guess they thought I was an undercover ATF agent or something. God knows my Amazon vest isn’t bullet proof.
